A Pokemon x The Magnus Archives AU

The Magnezone Archives (TMzA for the sake of seperating the abbreviation of my AU to the actual TMA) is a Pokemon AU of The Magnus Archives, by yours truly, Mobu. In this AU, TMA takes place in the pokemon world where the worldbuilding follows the canon Pokemon universe but the story and plot stays true to TMA

Here are the additions and changes made in this AU:

TMzA is not set in its own separate region, but is instead set on the Galar Region (the region literally based on England), specifically Wyndon (literally London but in the pokemon world).

Instead of the Institute being named after its founder, Jonah Magnus named it after his loyal companion, Magnezone.

In this worldbuilding, instead of brushing off the supernatural happenings around them as delusions or fake stories, people chalk up the cases as just common mischief of the biology of Ghost-Types pokemons.

The Institute has its own set of rules to accomodate with its employees' pokemon companions such as banning the use of fire moves or letting in Fire-Type pokemon into the Institute, only allowing small-medium sized pokemon to assist in their work, and staff are permitted to keep pokemon food on them

So narratively speaking, the addition of Pokemon for this AU is meant to be supporting the characters and story of the original TMA, not alter it. I stick to this rule that, whenever I make a Pokemon AU of any media, I keep it 75% original to the media, 25% pokemon. Even though the worldbuilding also follows that of Pokemon's, the narrative, plot, stories, and some worldbuilding from the original media still exists in its Pokemon AU. The reason why this is is because I really enjoy the potential of what limited freedom can do with creativity and I've already came up with ideas I'm quite proud of for TMzA.

As it may be demonstrated prior, although I did placed The Magnezone Institute set in the Galar Region, it will still stay true to the original story.

This AU is made for fun. I have more to tell aside from just the worldbuilding aspect, of course I have the teams planned for a lot of the characters of TMA, how they got their pokemon, and how they (the pokemon) will work. I'll fiddle more on this AU, of course, I'd really appreciate if you engage with TMzA, even if it's something like telling me your thoughts on the story adaptation or comment your opinions on the pokemon I gave to these characters. I very much enjoy discussions regarding Pokemon AUs and I'll be looking forward for your engagement!

The Magnus Archives (TMA) x Pokemon AU

The Magnezone Archives:

Followers of the Avatar

"Followers if the Avatar" or Follower Pokemon are terms used to refer to the pokemon team of the avatars of the 14 fears. They are loyal to their avatar trainer and would fiercely defend them with all their energy because of how their fear controls them. Like how the employees of the Magnus Institute are unable to quit, these pokemon are unable to separate, disassociate, or be released by their trainers. At best, these pokemon still retain a bit of their personality, at worst, they become near mindless zombies reduced to mere tools.

Examples:

Follower Pokemons are loyal to their trainers because they are scared. They sense the wrongness of their trainers and yet they can't run away from them, which leads to the Fears easily controlling them and manipulate their forms and powers. Their trainers is their sense of safety and predictability despite the horrors they might encounter, it's an endless feedback loop of fears where it would gradually change the pokemon. These Follower 'mons have their bodies altered to best serve, feed, and protect their trainer and Fears, be it an extended longevity of their lifespan, changing their types entirely, morphing themselves into an Alpha pokemon, or painfully half-mega evolved without a Mega and Key stone to gain remarkable abilities. These transformations are excrutiating to the pokemon, but they will do whatever it takes to quell their fear and gain some semblence of control.

Normal/other Pokemon that are not a Follower to an Avatar are wary and cautious around these Follower 'mons. They sense something isn't right with them and would respond with either hostility or fear as well. Even Pokemon who are affiliated with an Avatar, be it just a connection or from their trainers being associated with an Avatar, are met with aggression and apprehension as well to varying degrees. These Follower Pokemons tend to be hostile to fellow Followers who are of different Fears; you'll see them baring their fangs, talons, or flexing their powers when they meet one another.

Gertrude's entire team is able to mega evolve, she scatters her Key stones around her clothing and disguises them like jewelry. Her team is fiercely loyal to her and takes no orders other than Gertrude herself

Tim has a hobby of battling, I'd say if he were to take on the gym challenge, he'd be able to go up to the 4th gym

He and Danny used to battle a lot as kids, but Tim brifly dropped the hobby when he became a researcher

Takes care of his roserade diligently, it matches his energy

I'd like to confirm this again that Tim's charizard was his brother Danny's that he inherited when he went missing

He and charizard perished in the explosion in the Circus, leaving roserade behind.
