Ian Gallagher’s bipolarness.

Now I usually don’t go on these types of rants about TV shows but I honestly have to. I have seen way too many rants about how the portrayal of Ian Gallagher is so poor.

In all honesty, for me the portrayal of Ian Gallagher is probably the most accurate portrayal of a bipolar character I have seen on tv. As someone who is bipolar, his journey seems to be the exact same as mine.

I know a lot of people seemed upset when his family members saw he was upset and angry and instantly asked if he’s off his meds. The thing is though, this is such an honest portrayal. Once my family found out, each and every outburst or if anything made upset the question that always followed was “are you taking your medication” are “you sure you don’t need to go see your doctor ”, it’s how things really are.

While people try not to see you as different, they do. They worry about you, but they are also afraid of what you’re capable of. There’s also a lot of people that say the directors pick the most random times for him to go manic. That the writers are just throwing in these moments of craziness, when everything can be okay, just for entertainment. The thing though, for me, is that I think it’s completely accurate. From even the current season when it was just little things that would make him mad that tumbled into the whole gay Jesus senario, I think that makes perfect sense. It started off as a small trigger where him and Fiona were getting into arguments and the whole church fight, to him pretty much blowing up a car.

I know a lot of people hate the fact that they think they’re using the bipolar bit as a huge drama machine, but the thing is it’s such an accurate portrayal of the illness.

It’s random and it makes no sense, it’s violent and it makes you hateful, and it makes the very people who have loved you the most distrusted trust you.

Let me talk about Sai

Ok, so one of the most underrated relationships in Naruto/Boruto is Sai and Ino. Seeing Sai being a dad and teaching Inojin his scroll jutsu just makes me feel whole. Similar to Sasuke, he was all alone, but unlike sasuke, Sai was alone from the very beginning because he was never exposed to a family. Naruto saw that, Sasuke had one, but Sai was kinda just alone. He has his “brother,” but that was for a brief moment.

Now, he has Ino and Inojin. He’s a captain and a trusted advisor to Naruto. He didn’t understand social connections, but he’s grown so much and my heart is filled with so much happiness and love for this character. He was a little shit before, but now he’s a dad who lives to protect his family
