Heart-Shaped Box // Nirvana
my present for you, sophie
Sophie: Lets run! Donât fight them, Howl! Howl: Sorry, Iâve had enough of running away, Sophie. Now Iâve got something I want to protect. Itâs you.
Calcifer in Howlâs Moving Castle
"Sophie, your hair looks just like a starlight, itâs beautiful.â
Sophie and Markl at the market
HowlSophie requested by noeins
thenotorioushowl started following you
"Good evening to you, sir."
"Good evening, Madam. What brings you to the shop?"
â [ thenotorioushowl]
     Unaware of the man descending from the skies, Sophie gasped in fright at the sound of Howlâs voice, turning to look at the mischievous wizard.  A hand came to rest over her heart, the organ beating violently, almost painfully in her chest.  She never knew when to expect him home.
     âY-You scared me, Howl!â She stated, a flush of embarrassment coloring her cheeks.  A smile overcame her however as the flowers bloomed in the sunlight, the waxy complexions practically glowing.  Reds, yellows, and purples contrasting with the almost unnaturally green grass growing.  Flowers of love and friendship, as the book had put it.  Customers wanted a flower with a meaning, and Sophie often found herself gathering the red roses, carnations, and gardenias at the request of her male customers.
     âI didnât expect you home so soon.â  She sighed, standing and dusting the dirt off her dress.  âI was going to do some cleaning.â  She wondered if he would pale at the word, and found herself quite hoping he would.  It was always a pleasure to see the notorious âHorrible Howlâ slither out of the house in fear, for Sophie became the scariest witch in Market Chipping when a broom was in her hand.  Â
    The wizard threw his arm over the beautiful girl with starlight hair and rolled his eyes vigorously.
    "I thought you might concentrate on more...beautiful things, now that you have a garden all to yourself." Howl tried not to think of his Sophie cleaning the house. It made him feel quite tired and slightly ill. "Don't you ever get tired of cleaning?"
    A grin spread across his face as he entertained the idea of Sophie slacking off all day. Truth be told, it didn't suit Sophie. But he would never admit that. "Besides, I bought you a few new dresses from Kingsbury. They're waiting for you in your room."
    He enjoyed this ritual of buying her clothes she usually never wore. It was frivolous and extravagant and suited him quite well. And, it bother Sophie quite a bit. She was always so attractive when she was flustered. Howl loved to watch the expressions she made as her face turns crimson.
{ She smiled up at him before exceeding small nods in his direction, indicating to him that she was listening intently to his every word. She hated forgetting small details, but found herself only being able to remember mere facts or even just the faces of those sheâs come across. It must have been just her and her lack of incapability of keeping attention for very longâ where fidgeting and finding herself to move about would loosely sway against her joints all on its own. But she kept herself stable for the time being, where she let out an excited yip in Howlâs response to breakfastâ a rumble of her stomach told her otherwise. She knew she had forgotten to eat something today before her mischief and travels. }
             ââCan Howl cook somethinâ for Kunie, too?â
{ Her voice almost innocent and forthcoming, but the sparkle in her tinted green eyes said she was looking forward to even it coming down to just his company for the time being. She didnât think another human being would be so nice and generous, she found it uplifting and quite exciting. }
             âThe place Howlâs from sounds like a animalâs name. But Kunaraâs happy you are happy here. This place can be nice if thaâ people in it were⌠well, at least nice like Howl.â
"The people around here aren't all that bad. They're just... a little closed minded. They usually are well-intended, if slightly misguided."
Grabbing a pan and a basket filled with breakfast foods, Howl strode to the fireplace and began cooking a pair of eggs and a few greasy bacon strips. Pretty much the only thing he knew how to cook without a little magic. After a short while, he poured the delicious mix of contents onto the cleanest plate he could find and placed on the nearby table.
"Help yourself."
The succulent smell of bacon wafted up and filled the room. He chucked the broken eggshells into Calcifer's gaping mouth and frisbee'd the pan into the sink.
"I see that you can pull off that cloak very well," the queen said, eyeing the beautiful embroidery on the cloak.  Not many men she knew could look half-decent in rosemailing. "Thatâs very unfortunate," she replied. Â
Her shoulders tensed at his last sentence, her eyes darting to the floor beside her. Never had the queen heard of the ability of detecting magic. Elsa would have been found out years ago.. She gave a nervous laugh. âI guess thereâs no use in trying to hide it,â she said quietly, her eyes finding his face again. There was a brief moment of silence before she continued, âI was born with a gift. A gift of ice magic..â
Howl couldn't help but notice the tension permeate the air around the enchanting young woman. Was there some type of ban on magic? Or was she living in the shadow of some terrible rumor, much akin to his own situation? The young wizard was touched that a girl so beautiful could live with such worries.
"That sounds like a very interesting gift. I rarely come across witches who specialize in natural wonders, but when I do it's usually quite fantastic."
"I hope I'm not out of line by asking, but I may need to ask for a favor."
Awww niaink youâre âombreâ didnât come out the way you wanted it to? Get the fuck over it before you turn to goop gurl. Nobody needs to see that.
