Word around The Capitol is that they’re RESILIENT AND INTREPID but can also be STUPID AND EGOCENTRIC. According to sources, they’re THIRTY and were once described as the sweet ache of sore muscles building strength, dissociation by drug-addled dancing on tabletops, electricity sparking up like a firework against a black canvas sky, how satisfied that savage feeling is when something finally breaks, only boring people get bored. What a character! As we always say, may the odds be ever in their favor!
BIOGRAPHY
Kodak and Damini Bardot remain among the most lavishly wealthy in District 3. Several suspected they would eventually make the move into the Capitol. However, Kodak preferred a more hands on approach to handling the family business, and Damini built the labs to her perfect specifications here. They were arguably the largest suppliers of screens and holograms in all of Panem. They even had special contracts with the President. Damini’s keen mind for technological upgrades, and Kodak’s business acumen ensured they could build an empire during their young lives, which in turn, meant they sacrificed other ambitions. The Bardot’s always intended to have children, but as time moved steadily on, it was no longer a viable option for them. They turned to adoption, and the lucky twins who came to be their family were named Bokeh and Pixel.
The twins were raised with every luxury that the District could afford which, admittedly, wasn’t as much as the Capitol, but certainly better than a vast majority of other districts. They both had tutors for general education and soon developed talents and passions all their own. Bokeh was a smart boy. He impressed teachers of every subject and, much like his mother, had a keen mind for inventive technology. Pixel, however, was not equally inclined. She showed absolutely no advantage in her schooling. In fact, she failed almost every academic exam given to her. She was abysmally obtuse with any screen, keyboard, chip, or circuit put in her hands. Instead, Pixel excelled with her dance instructor and then with an acrobatics coach. She was agile and strong, a natural athlete. The Bardot’s tried not to make their disappointment obvious, but it was no secret who would be taking over the business.
Despite that, Kodak and Damini encouraged each twin with both words and funds. Bokeh was given endless supplies to tinker and craft with while Pixel was trained physically. Soon enough, she expanded her interests to martial arts and combat training. The Bardot’s even attempted to enroll Pixel in the same lessons as other Careers, but there was not much available in their District. Not because they wanted her to volunteer for the games, quite the opposite, but because that would mean she had the best. Truly, Pixel adored the physicality of training, loved how it felt to move, run, jump, and fight. However, she got easily bored. When Pixel wasn’t riding the adrenaline high from athletics, she found other, less reputable, ways to fulfill that need. It started with little risks: climbing up the rogue architecture of buildings, sneaking drinks from her parent’s bar, tests of strength or constitution in venues that she certainly wasn’t old enough to frequent. When all that became boring too, the little menace moved on to larger risks: jumping from rooftop to rooftop, buying hits from shady Morphlings, seeing how long she could take a taser in the chest and stay on her feet. It was all a laugh to her. Besides, her parents had proven several times over that they would pay the way to hush up any trouble she caused.
When the twins finally became old enough for the Reaping, no one expected Pixel to be drawn during their first year. Bokeh looked terrified as he heard the name echo through the main square. Pixel, on the other hand, seemed excited. Of course no one volunteered on her behalf. She wouldn’t really want them to. This was a competition like no other. The surprisingly strong girl earned an immediate reputation. Most tributes from District 3 were lean, almost feeble, and pallid. Their skillset relied on the electronics trade. Those who won often did so by taking advantage of that knowledge. Pixel was, by all appearances, in another class entirely. She had the toned and well-defined muscles of a gymnast and fighter, and stood decidedly imposing compared to the rest of her District. That became a rather large hook for her character before the games began. No one quite knew what to expect.
The games that year were hosted on a salt flat. When the tributes were brought into the arena, there was nothing but flat mirror earth beneath them, a deadly sun above, the Cornucopia in front of them, and the movement of some indistinguishable animals in the far distance. Most tributes realized quickly that there was nowhere to hide and water was going to be their most valued possession. It was one of the most violent bloodbaths in recent history. Pixel was responsible for six of the ten deaths on day one. Those who survived ran as far as they could with nothing. The first night was tense. The second night, it rained. Those who managed to catch some of that water managed to hold out longer. The rest perished from dehydration and exhaustion. Pixel made a base camp inside the cornucopia, but got bored on day four and started to hunt. She managed to catch a few other tributes, but it was going slow and the original supply of water was running low. It rained again, but this time muttations were released into the arena. They were electrified and meant to use the thin layer of water to amplify their range of voltage. Pixel survived through a sponsor gift; a thin rubber sheet just large enough to fit both feet. She climbed to the top of Cornucopia and tried to wait it out, but the rain would not cease. With only three Tributes left, Pixel instincts screamed that she had to move to win since time was not on their side. She took the rubber mat and managed to wrangle it around one of the electric muttations to keep it in her grasp.
Pixel won the games, but lost her left hand in the process. She also suffered some severe nerve damage and burned all her hair off. That eventually grew back, but the hand did not. She had it replaced with a fiberoptic prosthetic designed by her mother and brother. After the tour, Pixel retired to the Victor’s Village for a grand total of three months. Then she got bored again and decided to do what her parents should have done years and years ago; she moved to the Capitol. The party life was insane. It suited her.
What called Pixel back to District 3 was the current mentor, the man who trained her, had a proper mental breakdown. He could no longer stand to send lottery winners year after year. They needed someone to train the new crop of Tributes. So Pixel agreed to do it. She would get bored of the Capitol soon anyway, and then what? She excelled in getting those Tributes physically ready. District 3 needed advice on how to gain muscle and stamina. However, Pixel struggled to help conceive of more quietly strategic methods of victory.
Pixel is pansexual and rather active about it. She had no qualms or hesitation about crawling into bed with just about anyone (at anytime). Sexuality also played a large part in Pixel’s schtick before her games.
Once she moved to the Capitol, Pixel experimented with a few other body modifications. The most notable of which are iridescent circuit-like tattoos across the expanse of her body.
Pixel is not what she would call a drug addict. She is, but she has certainly made it appear more like over-indulgent fun.
The best way I can describe Pixel is not a bimbo, but very specifically a female himbo.

biography
Freya was the seventh child born into her family, it was an absurdly large family and only remotely possible in a district like one or two. Freya’s birth however came when her mother was older and sometimes things go wrong. Without her mother around freya was raised by committee, her older siblings didn’t have time to waste, not really, so freya was instilled with a practicality she rarely actually displayed. People liked to talk, they used to say she was spoiled, had wanted for nothing and it wasn’t quite true. Freya hadn’t wanted for much but that was because she had the hand me downs of six siblings, nothing was new, nothing was hers and hers alone. Why buy anything new when anything she’d ever needed had already been purchased and used before? Freya was envious of other well to do families around her, those with one or two children perhaps, whose dresses and shoes were immaculate and whose toys did not come scuffed or broken or missing pieces. It was silly to be so envious when she had what she needed but freya was born to covet the things her siblings had reveled in that were not hers to experience but she always refused to name that thing mother.
Mr. rost, her father, was the best smithy in the district and he tried to teach freya that hard work, patience and determination was the way to achieve and succeed. Freya was full of that potential when she was little, when she loved to watch her father in the sweltering forge, pounding steel into submission. She’d watch the sparks this process created, she could see the ripple of heat in the light and she always admired the finished product. She was always surprised that her hulk of a father with his enormous, ugly hands could produce weapons of such beauty and finesse. It took her a really long time to realize she fit into that category too.
It would have been easy to take up the artistry, to fall into the family business as it was. But even though she appreciated what her father did, for a lot of reasons, she was not built to be covered in grease and soot and ash, to have her hands be torn up and calloused and rough. She didn’t find any joy in the process she knew by heart to make a sword but she loved holding one, feeling the balance, burying the blade into the trunk of a tree. She liked the feeling of power in her hands, the vibration in her frame from impact, how strong it made her body. Of course she wasn’t allowed to play with the products but there was always an abundance of ones rejected by clients, ones just the right size and weight for her because he made them for the training center in the center of the district, the one where the careers for the hunger games trained.
She was eight when she asked her dad to put her in the training school, but all he could see was his baby daughter with her pretty red hair and her soft skin and her small hands. He didn’t see her for what she was or what she could be, he only saw a baby and she couldn’t accept that. She went as far as trying to show him that she could hold and swing a sword but he only got angry that she’d played with the swords in the first place. He wanted to keep her pretty and pristine and on a pedestal she had no interest in perching on, she was not a doll and she’d prove it to him. She packed a bag one night, walked in the dark to one of her sisters homes, and entered the training academy that morning. Her father never seemed able to forgive her for it, but she was the one with the grounds to hold a grudge.
Freya was popular at the training center, she was an excellent liar and she got prettier as she got older too. It wasn’t easy to excel in the academy, it was full of a few dozen kids, varying ages and backgrounds, who all wanted the same thing for different reasons. There were no friends to be made in that kind of environment but sometimes there were allies and freya found a few but more than that she found someone to rely on, someone to love. She knew better, the teachers had always warned them that every attachment they had was a tether, an anchor, a weakness. But who could keep them self from falling in love?
Eventually freya was the right age to volunteer but the promise of more time with the boy she loved was too intoxicating and she faltered, she didn’t volunteer and her classmates started to think she was a coward, lost her nerve and to get back the respect she had already earned once demanded too much. She made enemies but she didn’t leave the academy, she continued to train, to gain strength, to rise in the ranks if only because her biggest competition kept actually volunteering, except the boy she loved. The other students began to grow resentful but their hostility only served to sharpen her senses and skills, she began to feel untouchable. Freya flew too close to the sun and just like icarus her wings burned when
Freya should have known that the resentments building against her were going to have consequences, but her unending arrogance got the better of her and the bubble of love she was in clouded her judgement to the point of ruin. The reaping arrived and still freya knew in her heart that she’d make it through, she and the boy she loved. But then the worst possible thing happened, her name was called, she’d been reaped. But even though herh eart hammered in her chest she waited for the familiar sound of “i volunteer as tribute.” from the crowd. But in a sea of kids who always volunteered there was nothing but silence, a condemnation of freya ringing out in the square. On legs buckling with every step she walked toward the stage, a walk she’d dreamed of for years and then dreaded and then ignored. She stood, eyes drifting to the boy who had her heart, to her large family, to the greedy and vindictive eyes of her peers from the training center believing justice had been served.
Another name was called, the other tribute and freya couldn’t comprehend anything anymore, the world was deafeningly silent and yet there was a buzzing in her ears that was bordering on painful. She was taken to a room where a few of her siblings came to say goodbye, hug after hug from nieces and nephews, pats on the back when they all knew she’d been condemned. But they all thought she wanted this, that she’d threatened her classmates into remaining quiet if she was reaped, that she had chosen this and they weren’t wrong entirely. And then she had to wonder if she still wanted this now that it was happening anyway.
The boy she loved rushed into the room, wrapped her up in his arms and the world melted away again. She tried to memorize everything she could about him, his scent, the curl of his hair, the dimple in his left cheek when he smiled at her. Their embrace was pained, he tried to apologize for not volunteering in time but she told him no, that this was better, that he should live. Selfishly she asked him to wait because even now she assumed she could win, she could come back to him and they could live happily ever after. They said goodbye and she felt lighter as she boarded the train. Standing at the door she and the other tribute were waving goodbye to the district but something in the back of the crowd caught her attention, it was her lover, her classmates approaching him from behind, one of them sinking a knife into his ribs. And then she heard deafening screaming, not realizing it was her own voice screeching into the crowd as peacekeepers forced her into the train and the doors closed as the train sped off toward the capitol.
Everything since has been a blur but maybe she owes her classmates a thank you. In the hours since the reaping she has gone through a whirlwind of emotions and finally has arrived at anger that provides inspiration. She WILL win, if only to return to two and get her revenge, rub it in the faces of her enemies.

biography
the mattock family was never quite the poorest of the poor in district eleven, but they were close. perhaps the top of the lower class, if such a spot existed. not that anyone in district eleven would ever make the distinction. poor was poor, but they all helped each other out.
rigby is the oldest of seven, an accident born when both of his parents were still of age to be reaped. it was no secret that he wasn’t planned, but they never loved him any less. after they were both safe from the games, they had another child, and another, until their farmhouse was crawling with kids and he was helping his father build a shoddy excuse for an addition just to fit them all under one roof.
he never formally went to school, spending his days helping his father on the farm as soon as he was old enough to hold a hoe. his mother taught him to read and write as best as he could, something he has always clung onto. she instilled a love of books in him he never expected, and as the years have gone on, it’s become an escape to him.
life was never easy for the mattock family, but the past couple years have been downright terrible. his mother died shortly after the twins were born, and his father couldn’t cope. he worked himself to the bone, unable to let himself grieve. six months ago he became ill, and he never recovered. at only 23, rigby became the man of the house. more than anything, he worries what will happen to his siblings if he doesn’t survive the games. sure, they have aunts and uncles and neighbors to watch over them while he’s gone, but if he doesn’t make it back? what then?

Definitely! Depending on how far into the games we are, we might close applications to new Tributes (just because... constantly introducing new tribbites might not make sense at a certain point!) But, as we've teased before, Mikey and I already have a couple of ideas brewing for a season two of The Odds, so there will be plenty of roles to pick up!
I’m wondering if you can clarify your activity limit? I see it mentioned there’s no activity limits but then it says: We ask that you participate in each event with at least one response and have a minimum of five threads per month. I’m a little confused by the five threads per month! Thanks :)
Hi, of course! We do have an activity limit-- we just said we have laidback activity rules. (I don't think it says anywhere that we have no activity limits-- please let me know where you are seeing this.) We will not be conducting activity checks-- that's just too much nickel and diming/administrative stuff for us to do on top of the heavy lifting of events. If we notice someone has not been around, we will refer to the activity rules to determine whether or not it is time to re-open that role. Please also refer to this ask to help clarify.

To be considered active, members will: participate in each event with at least one response and have a minimum of five active threads per month. (Five active threads equals a minimum of five posts with different characters per month. We've chosen threads as our metric to discourage bubble rping).
So are people making tributes for them to die? Or is there a plan? I'm just curious!
there are definitely some people who are down and willing to kill their tributes! and while we definitely have a plan in place, not every tribute can survive. as we are halfway to full tribute capacity, and people continue to fill out those slots, i strongly strongly advise not to bring a tribute you're going to be too passionate about. we will never ever ever kill your character without your consent, but also know there's only so much we can do! this is a hunger games rp and unfortunately not everyone can live! we will, of course, be killing off all unapplied tributes/npc tributes first ((:

the capitol's version of social media! inspired by "the slap" from victorious, capitol citizens and tributes can post statuses! people can create threads for comments.
standard format would look something like this:

If you had to describe your muse as a canon Hunger Games character, or mix, who would you compare them to and why? i think ethelia is veryyyyyy primrose coded but if prim was from the capitol. ethelia is very kind hearted and has a good spirit which also makes me think tigris coded in the same way? i think she also knows the capitol isn’t great, but has a very “there’s nothing i can do to change it” so she just kind of…. does it!!! it’s her first year as an escort and first time out of the capitol so i think she will just be in for a rude awakening when she sees what’s actually going on! also throwing effie in for the whole escort of it all!!

When Ethelia Mignonette Wildbloom was born, the sun was shining, the air was crisp, and and not even the slightest cry came from the babe. She was but a delicate creature from the moment she was born, unbeknownst to the world she lived in, the life she would live. She was one of the lucky ones, born to a former Peacekeeper general turned politician and Academy professor. Her father was older, one to start a family much later in life and it was a surprise at all that they were able to have Ethelia. The child was doted on by both parents, but their careers took much of their time.
It never made Ethelia feel particularly lonely, though. No, because the young girl had a knack for always finding something to do. Nannies taught her how to sew and braid hair, tutors taught her second languages, books filled a chunk of time but it never took long for her eyes to cross, and with a warm smile, she learned that almost anybody would be her friend.
The Academy was always the plan for Ethelia. With family members known to be educators, it just seemed like that next logical step for her. Her grades in school were always near perfect, but that was usually due to dumb luck or good old fashioned cheating. Her acceptance into the Academy was celebrated, but quick into her higher education, she realized she was in over her head. She wasn’t as bright as the rest, no matter how much she tried to keep up with them. Cheating wasn’t an option as the Academy as that would end in consequential catastrophe. Dumb luck got her to year two, but once the low marks started coming in, she had no choice but to flunk out.
She wasn’t a genius and she wasn’t particularly all that fashionable around the Capitol, other than wearing whatever was in trend at that current moment. Ethelia spent the next years, basically jumping from career to career. First, she was a seamstress. Then a travel agent. By the time she had messed up legal papers as her last stint as a receptionist, her parents all but forced her to be an escort after her father pulled some strings. In theory, it sounded grand! Ethelia adored the games every year and who wouldn’t want to orchestrate how the tributes were portrayed? It felt the perfect fit for her few skills: she was from the Capitol (check), she had an overbearingly cheery personality (check), and…. Well, that should be enough, right?
