"Nothing at all ma’am! m’not doin’ nothin’, no siree’ not at all! Y-you can’t arrest me fer anythin’, m’not even loitering check the cameras!" He side steps a bit trying to stick close to the brick. The grunt stabbed a cop once. It wasn’t pretty.

 ”Not even loitering, you say? …Hmph. WELL, I suppose I can’t arrest you crime-toeing hooligans for absolutely no reason at all— BUT. If it so happens I see you crossing any lines, you’ll be heading downtown with me, mister!” She motions from her eyes back to him. “No funny business, you hear?!”

He narrowed his eyes. An expression of further confusion. “Should I? I mean… I do try to resolve issues when they arise so that they do not become a persisting issue. Generally I make sure that something is over before I classify it as such.”

 ”Are you trying to say that you’re an expert when it comes to the affairs of loose ends?! You must think yourself superior if you think you can dictate what has ended and what has not! How can you know for certain?!”

The second Examiner and the Guard had to excuse themselves to take care of stationary duties while the train was standing, including allowing passengers to board, leaving Goodwin, Examiner Botting and Bowen to welcome the Officer to her new role.

However, as they all turned to greet her, the blonde was slightly taken aback with her appearance, as shown by the look on his face.

She was, well, more than pretty. Her hair was so different, but looked so awesome, her uniform, while different from police officers he knew in his world, was something that suited her quite well. He had a slightly noticeable blush on his face… and Examiner Botting noticed, gently elbowing the driver to ‘wake up’ a bit.

"Gentlemen, this is Officer Jenny." Mr Goodwin spoke before shaking her hand. "It’s good to see you again, Officer. Unfortunately two of our party have gone to attend to their duties, but you’ll meet them soon enough, they are Ticket Examiner Bob Hayes and Guard Josh Grayson." With a nod to the two left, the driver and Examiner saluted the officer as they both shook her hand. Bowen had a composed, but slightly noticeably shy smile, when it was his turn to shake her hand.

And when she referred to him as her ‘Partner in fighting crime’, he just let out another smile and nodded to her. “O..of course.”

The Assistant Commissioner was more than pleased with her words of confidence and determination. "I cannot see myself being disappointed at your efforts. You are already showing me that your willingness for the concept will take us leaps and bounds in providing the perfect service." And that was when he realised he hadn’t properly introduced the two men before her.

He gestured to the older man in the olive-gray uniform. “Anyways, this man is Ticket Examiner Brian Botting, he and Examiner Hayes are tasked with, as the title says, examining the tickets of passengers and minimising fare evasion. The Guard for this trip, Josh Grayson, communicates with the driver in regards to departures and ensures that safeworking is adhered to, he’s in a sense in charge of the train other than the actual operation of things.”

And then he gestured to the blonde, in the blue driver’s uniform. "And this person you would have seen in the news. This is Railcar Driver Bowen Chuuno. He was driving the train that went through that forest fire while those battles were going. If it wasn’t for his heroics and determination, the end result of that scenario would have been entirely different." To which the blonde nodded, shyly. He wasn’t one to toot his own horn.. and when it came to others tooting it for him, especially in front of someone like Officer Jenny, well, he couldn’t help but turn a little red… again.

 Botting— Hayes— Grayson— Officer Jenny nodded accordingly as each of their roles were made clear, regarding each man with a polite and focused stare. 

"Naturally, I am more than happy to assist with any mishaps that may occur with ticket examination, Mr. Botting!" She turns to him with a sharp click of her heels, smiling wryly. "Fare evasion is a growing offense as the transport system becomes more appealing to civilian crowds! Allowing it to escalate from here can only mean it worse in the future! … Of course, I understand my priorities for this assignment, but I understand that sometimes the extra help is needed!

"I reassure Mr. Grayson that I am well trained in most situational matters and that he may so rely on me if the event calls for it as well!"

And then she smiled brightly upon recollecting Bowen’s heroics, recognizing him from the news broadcast that had prompted her assignment there to begin with. “Saying it’s a job well done would be an understatement, Mr. Chuuno! The people are indebted to your actions!— Now, I may not have a feat like that under my belt, but I promise I won’t be holding you back! It’s an honor to be working with you.” She redirected her attention. “With all of you, of course!”

The grunt takes a step back. “Yeah… Yeah…” He squeaks quietly trying to blend into the concrete wall.

 Huh? She turns to see a guy plastered against a wall-- had he heard her? So, she'd been shouting this entire time... But that didn't matter if it'd led her to see this suspicious person.

"You there! What's your business in these parts?!"

He shoots the officer a confused glance. “Can it be over, but not over?”

 The fierce stare she returned was, if without cause, habitual. "You'd know the answer to that question, wouldn't you?"

The New Beat

7:45AM, Saffron City Station, one of the biggest stations in Kanto. The blonde male by the name of Bowen Chuuno had just arrived to clock onto duty for another day’s course of driving. Wearing full driver’s uniform, including jacket, tie and hat, his first train would be the usual Redhen railcar, a four car set to many of the towns in Kanto. When he got onto the correct platform, he soon noticed that the Guard and Ticket Examiners were already waiting, as was a familiar red headed man… Assistant Commissioner Mark Goodwin.

"I see you didn’t get the memo, don’t worry you’re still early though." Goodwin spoke as Bowen approached the crew.

"No I didn’t…" The driver replied. "What’s going on?"

"Well due to the incident we have with an out of control forest fire and uncontrolled chaos, you of which would know about, as would Examiner Botting, the Authority has finally reached an agreement with police of all regions to work with train crews in ensuring all passengers can have a safe trip on our trains."

"And this involves?"

"Well like SA and other places, we’ve proposed to them the Transit Officer concept. On certain trains we’ll be having a Police Officer on board and work with staff to prevent crime and chaos and ensure the reputation of the STA as a safe, reliable service from A to B."

"Well that is a good start. If we had one on board before it would have helped a great deal."

"Well today this train will be the first to try out the concept. You’ll all be working with an officer called… hmm.. Jenny I believe."

"Sir, the vast majority of officers over all regions are called Jenny." Examiner Botting pointed out.

"Hmm. interesting, but anyway. You’ll be working with Officer Jenny. I entrust you all make her feel welcome aboard your train and assist in her duties, as she would yours."

He turned at the sound of heels approaching. "Ahh, here she is now."

She had thought that with all of her use of public transportation in the region of Unova while undergoing training she would have been able to navigate the quieter region's stations with ease-- of course, this wasn't the first time she'd gotten ahead of herself and she should have expected as much.

Miraculously enough, there were just enough indications towards the "Redhen railcar" that her stumbling about (naturally, she stumbled about with conviction! She couldn't let civilians view her as a directionally challenged straggler, after all!) led her to the right place at just about the right time-- if it was, indeed, Mark Goodwin whom was announcing her arrival.

 "Officer Jenny reporting for duty, sir!" She saluted the three men before her appropriately, assuming the usual stance easily enough and with hopefully enough confidence-- after having been squinting at a directory, she couldn't be sure if it was believable or not...

The red-haired man, she recognized-- it had to be Goodwin, from the descriptions she'd been given. To him, she extended her hand first, and then to his two acquaintances. Ah, wasn't the second man the Examiner? So, that meant...

The job had sounded interesting to her at the start of its mention and she had absolutely no issues with being assigned to the task, especially with recent reports of activities on the train.

"Commissioner Goodwin! Examiner! Rest assured that I will not disappoint on this appointment! Integrating the police into this public system will be a revolutionary implementation that will spur others to do the same! We'll make sure travel safety is no longer a concern on the minds of these people," she turned her head slightly to address the blonde man, "Won't we, Partner in Crime? Or, rather, Partner in Fighting Crime!"

 "It's not over 'til it's over!"

"Hey lady! What's with that outfit?" asked a small girl with messy red hair, a pirate hat, and a southern accent.

 ”My outfit?! My outfit is obviously the uniform symbol for the defenders of the law!” Jenny tugged down on her police cap emphatically, grinning pridefully down at the girl. “… Wait just a minute, what’s with your outfit?!”

"It ain’t an outfit, old lady! It’s mah normal clothin’!" She glared with a very rude and angry expression.

 "Is that so?!" A police officer uniform was more regular than that hat. "Tell me, are you from a faraway region?"

"It’s Team Rocket, Jenny. Honestly what do you expect? They aren’t the smartest people in the world, none of those criminal teams are. All of them are stupid enough to try and use Pokémon, legendaries at that, for their own personal gain. One day their going to do something and it will backfire on them, leaving nothing left." The fact that they were becoming stupider, and stupid seemed to help the process a bit further. "It’s Pallet, home to Professor Oak, his grandchildren and his students; it’s going to garner attention whether we like it or not."

His eyes levelled her with a cold, and serious look. “I trust that you won’t Jenny. Normally you’d be trained before being on a field mission but, we’re lacking people and needed to add members to the group. I nominated you due to your connections with me and all the adventures you’ve accompanied me on. You’re the one I want on this team.”

 "With that kind of a recommendation, it's going to be hard to leave any room for mistakes." She snapped her fingers and threw up her pointer finger at him, winking. "No need to be concerned about that training, Ash! I'm as good as trained as I stand! Of course, if it's necessary later, that won't be an issue, but, for now, consider me ready!"

She resumed her usual stance, placing her hands on her hips. "Is that who we're dealing with once again? Team Rocket?" He had said it was more serious than her previous quips. "But on a higher scale? What've we got, Ketchum?"

Fantina laughed a bit at the officer’s words.

  "Mon cher, the reaper is likely not the killer….just the last thing he saw. The amulet is all he can recall from the actual killer. The reaper garb his simply because after his death the reaper rapped his soul up into the drifloon form." She explained, taking another look at the drawing.

  “As for the amulet…non. It is not the symbol of any wealthy houses in hearthome….perhaps we should look at the surrounding areas?” She suggested. She had a hunch as to what house they should look at, but one should not excuse those with dozens of lawyers on speed dial without hard proof.

Officer Jenny nodded her head sheepishly at Fantina's explanation -- of course there wouldn't be anyone foolish enough to look so suspicious, nevermind the killer themselves. But what an interesting, though sad, fate to be conformed to the shape of a ghost Pokemon. Staring where the Drifloon had been, the officer shivered; how many Pokemon had previously been human in this killer's wake?

 "So, you don't recognize it? This could be trouble." She frowned, bringing up a gloved hand to rub her jaw thoughtfully. "Solaceon is too small, unless you know of such a family there. What do you know about Pastoria? ...Unless this amulet's origin is... Eterna City!" She hadn't come across anything like this in her navigating through Sinnoh before.

"You'll never take me alive!"

 ”…Well, okay then, have it your way! Growlithe, burn him to a crisp!” Her superiors probably wouldn’t like that. But if he was only partially charred, they wouldn’t mind too badly, she didn’t think.

Meowth could feel anxiety prickling at his spine as, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Growlithe take off into the air. A panicked gasp left him as he dove for the wire fence, little “humminah”s of hysteria escaping his mouth.

Oh please, oh please, oh please, he inwardly chanted, his paws stretching and scrambling for the fence, the imminent danger of the Growlithe’s impact looming over him. 

And then, just as his paw brushed against the cold wire of the fence, the Growlithe collided into him, sending him tumbling into the grass. “No!” he cried as his back skidded painfully through the hard soil, grit shooting into the air and clumping into the scratch cat’s fur.

Got him! Officer Jenny very nearly celebrated with a dance right then and there, but it wasn’t over yet.

Sprinting after their point of collision, she skidded to a stop beside her recuperating Growlithe. The little fire type pup jumped to all fours, shaking off his coat with a hearty shuffle, and an acknowledging bark to match. “Grooowl!”

After smirking down at her partner, she redirected her gaze to glare down the resisting Meowth. “Listen up, Rocket Punk! I’m giving you one final chance to surrender!” She would probably be regretting her decision in a matter of seconds, but even Team Rocket was entitled to an opportunity to admit defeat. “What do you say, Meowth?!”

"Advance nothin’, I been talkin’ like this since I was a li’l gal. My master taught me how to talk like y’all humans"

"Now what do ya want? I’m hungry an’ you’re makin’ me late for lunch"

 Another such master? Was there a class being taught somewhere or something?! Jenny pinched the bridge of her nose in distress. "And where exactly did your master earn the credentials for that?!" Was there even such a thing? If there was, it had to be uncommon.

Officer Jenny pulled a sour expression at the Mawile's continued bluntness. Her initial guilt at keeping her from lunch was suppressed with her tone in mind. "We're... almost done here!"

The Breloom hugged his book tightly, not wishing to drop it again. “Um… I learned both from my trainer… I wanted to learn to read so she taught me, and as a result I also learned to speak human. My friends know how to speak it, too, but they don’t read as often as I do.” 

The Breloom worringly looked up to the blue haired officer. He felt scared from her strict tone of voice, never having been talked to in such a way before. He wasn’t quite sure how to keep talking to her and remain on her more positive side. He faced her and showed her the cover of the book, of which was a subject on mythological related things and magic.

"There’s a lot more books at home.. I wish they would read them…Do..do you like to read, Officer, ma’am?"

 The answer came easily enough; it almost took all the fun of playing the minor role of bad cop! Still, she couldn't very much deter the Breloom's honesty. "Your trainer, huh? What kind of person is this trainer?" There really were more than just Meowth -- maybe it was a rapidly developing fad among trainers.

Her mulling was interrupted by a non-relating question -- no, it loosely went hand-in-hand with their conversation, or, rather, her one-sided interrogation. She blinked at him and leaned over, dropping her hands to her knees to take a closer look at his book.

"You're the scholar of the group, huh?" She wrinkled her nose, remembering that she had something to answer as well. "Of course I read! It keeps the mind sharp! I think mystery novels are informative and entertaining pieces of literature!" What was she doing, standing around and chatting with this Pokemon? ... But it was pertinent to learning about the talking phenomenon in the end, wasn't it?

O-officer jenny! H-hello, hi, uh *she fakes a yawn and stretches; quickly taking a whiff of her right arm in an attempt to see if the smell of marijuana is lingering onto her; unfortunately she can’t tell and as she lowers her arms she waves at the officer awkwardly* Good day! E-ehe

 Well, wasn't that odd? Granted, Gardenia is something of a weird one to begin with, but she seems more than a little preoccupied today. Could she have been--... "Gardenia! Just one moment!" Jenny squints at her suspiciously. "Were you... napping at the park again?!"

The Grass-type promptly covers his ears, groaning in annoyance after hearing the human's idea of a joke. (I regret nothing)

 ”Hey, hey! There’s no way you didn’t think that was funny!” What did this Simisage know about humor anyway? Jenny huffed to herself.

Training in the Pokemon Police! || theofficerjenny

It was really all or nothing now, if he didn’t do this he’d be stuck living in Hotel Richissime without much spending money to live off of. It was his Saiyaman alter ego’s fault almost entirely. He couldn’t let evil win, this was a different universe sure, but evil was evil and he couldn’t just stand by and watch it happen. He still had some of his powers, true, but now he had to use them even more sparingly than he had in his own world.

This was going to be his outlet to continue the heroic lifestyle he had back home. 

And so there he stood, at “attention” with three other recruits, his Pokemon of choice stood in front of him, at only two and a half feet tall, his Charmander seemed most trustworthy. Since the two “Legendary” Pokemon he had were better off kept as secret, or so the advice meant that came from the first friend he made here. Even though his Charmander was also rare by standards here, since it was a lighter shade than others, and her growl was all the more ferocious because of it.

She was hesitant though, Gohan also had with him, an egg that he was eager to hatch. It wasn’t a fire-type, but he wished to hatch it as soon as possible. It was just convienient for him to keep it safe, unlike with his Pokemon in their respective pokeballs in the barracks, Darkrai watched over them, lurking in the dark of one of his bags’ pockets. Since he didn’t have any place that he knew for sure he could trust, he kept all of them on his person, but they were all normal pokeballs, so no one knew if they were empty or not—not that they’d get past Darkrai’s hypnosis to remember what was going on.

"Son Gohan, ma’am, present!" He chirped quickly, and more or less confidently. His arms were secure behind his back as the booklet he read instructed, it made his pecks almost rip through the shirt he wore, but he was used to holding poses much more strenuous than this.

His golden fire-type Pokemon kept stealing glances to look up at him, it wasn’t hard to tell that she was just as nervous as he was.

Clack. Clack, clack.

Officer Jenny's footsteps echoed throughout the desolate barracks; she very nearly flinched, having forgotten the horrible acoustics and their tendency to deafen when given so much as a whisper to work with. It'd been years since she'd last taken steps into the place, years since she'd had to endure the repercussions of any in-training misdemeanors, the "amplified terrors of critical correction", as her spiteful superior at the time had labeled it.

Although, this time around, Officer Jenny would be the one calling the shots and pushing the recruits to their limits. Though, by the looks of it, there wouldn't be too many to manage -- just four? It was a little demeaning -- in the sense that perhaps they'd assigned her this class because they were so few, possibly from the basis that it was all she could handle... ha! --. Still, at the very least, she would be able to use this opportunity to ensure that they were fully prepared at the end of it all -- and, in effect, prove those leadership assigning bastards wrong!

... However, at the moment, none of the few standing before her appeared as optimistic as she was feeling. With a sigh -- she couldn't be so pumped up about this yet --, she turned to her clipboard and tapped the pen against it a couple of times. 

She checked off attendance listlessly as the four announced their names and titles at her approval, able to conclude that they were, at least, serious about undertaking the training. That was good -- when it was her, she'd been on the reluctant edge of the spectrum. But none of them commanded anything really special -- until she reached the young man with the perfect stance and the apprehensive Charmander.

Gohan, huh? It wasn't as though there were many names to remember, but she definitely wouldn't be forgetting his.

"Alright then, you lifeless cluster of hopefuls! It's time to get the real show on the road!" Clapping them to attention, she gestured to the door, an order to usher them out. "We'll start with the obstacle course! I hope your choice Pokemon are as ready as you better be!"
