Helen barely meets his eyes. She’s in a lot of pain right now, and she doesn’t understand how he can see so much good in her, but he does, and that’s enough to ease the pain a bit. “I love you,” she breathes, leaning in to kiss him. “I love you so much.”

“And I love you, my darling Helen.” He whispers against her lips, arms circling around her with ease “You are my wonderful, beautiful Helen and I am so incredibly proud to call you my wife.”

He cups her face in his hands, thumbs brushing over her cheeks. He’s never seen her as anything less than wonderful -- to think that she considers herself a monster breaks his heart.

“You took over this Sanctuary because you have the biggest heart out of all of us. You care for each and every individual that comes through that door as if they were a member of your own family. You tell me how that makes you a monster.”

“And I don’t see myself as a cheesy idiot, but Elizabeth still insists I am one.” Theo responds, combing his fingers through her hair.

How did you feel when Helen went away to Oxford? Did it feel like she was abandoning you?

“Please, abandoned? I snuck in to see her most days.”

Hey Theo, did Helen ever tell you about that time she almost died from radiation poisoning?

“Yes.”

So how did it feel watching the love of your life almost marry another man?

“Something you have to understand is that to me, Helen’s happiness has, and always will come first. At the time, he made her happy.” It had hurt tremendously, but Theo’s a grown man and he had dealt with it.

“That’s what matters. So long as she’s happy - so long as she’s safe - I’m happy.”
