preparing for lift off
I am a military wife. I hate that saying. I am my husband's wife, and he happens to be in the military. I am not married to the military. Regardless, I am about to move across the country to be with my husband because the Air Force has taken him to Kansas. To preface this, Josh and I got married December 23rd, 2011. He went back to technical school a week after the wedding and I stayed in Florida to finish my Associates degree. He moved to Kansas after techincal school was over, and I'm still here. In Florida. Finishing my Associate's degree. We have yet to live together, but that will all change on July 31st because I have bought a one way ticket to Kansas. I will finally live with my husband in our tiny apartment a few miles from the base.
While I am thrilled to live with my husband, terrified of leaving my family, and excited about starting my junior year of college at Wichita State, I am most looking forward to how God is going use all of that for His glory. I am giddy at the thought of seeing His face shine through every situation that will come. I am ready to continue to be sanctifed through His Word. I am stoked to see Him work in and through our marriage as we strive for the relationship of Jesus and the Church.I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband who shows me everyday the love of Christ. His leadership and his desire to follow God's plan for our lives is so encouraging and reassuring. I am excited about the ministry that is going to be done as I begin to spend time with other wives that I meet and God uses me to share the Good News.
The toughest aspect of all of this is leaving my family. If you know me at all, you know that my family means the world to me. Especially my momma. I know that this is what happens when you get married "you leave your mother and father" and all, but it's still hard to imagine not seeing them everyday. I know that God is going to comfort all of us and that excites me because His comfort is so relaxing. And skype is a beautiful thing. I still have three and a half weeks before lift off, and I'm so enjoying this time with my family. There is such a sweetness in the love of family that comes from the Lord. Everyday I wake up and recognize that "joy comes in the morning" and have been reminded by a good friend that "everyday there are new mercies." Armed with these two pieces of scripture, I am able to begin each day with a smile of my face and a great expectancy of all things from my Jesus.
