yall, grenada?? this show does nOT skimp on the angst holy shit. when the opening scenes of SCAN are holmes being passive aggressive about Watson leaving for a week and Watson chastising him about using. AND THE COMFORT immediately afterwards. i am lost without my Boswell I've only been watching this show for ten minutes you cant do this to me

elementary rewatch is so great bc i forgot how absolutely STUNNED sherlock looks when joan agrees to stay on not as a sober companion but as his partner. genuinely most soppy-besotted-awed look ive seen on a man's face and it has nothing to do with romance god bless

I've finished watching my first run of Granada Sherlock :( so I thought I would make a list of my top five episodes (from five to one ending with my favourite).

There will be some spoilers in here, so don't read on unless you've seen all the episodes!

5. The Illustrious Client. I seem to prefer the ones with the most horrible baddies! I love the allusions to Mozart's Don Giovanni. I think Kitty Winter is a great character. And even though the ending is rather gruesome, it's a satisfying story.

4. The Dying Detective. "Quick, if you love me!" Need I say more? No. But I will. This episode has another repulsive bad guy. Also, what a great cast - a young Hugh Bonneville, Susannah Harker, Jonathan Hyde. And there's a bit where Holmes starts rambling about oysters. When you realise that he wasn't even in a fever anyway, you wonder 'where did all that stuff about the oysters come from then?'

3. The Master Blackmailer. This one has perhaps the most unpleasant villain of all. It also has a gay storyline and gay club, which was very pleasantly surprising to me. There's one bit where Lestrade goes to talk to Holmes and Watson about the death of the gay man, and there's a lot of unspoken stuff going on in that room. Also, I still assert that there is something about Jeremy Brett as Escott the plumber. I like it when his hair flops forward.

2. The Creeping Man. I know this is a contentious one! But this episode is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV. There's an alleged levitating gorilla. There's an angry dog called Roy. There's an even angrier Watson. And that ending! There's an old and distinguished professor chimpanzeeing about in a tree, cavorting his way towards the girl next door. It's kind of like Breaking Bad, but he's been cooking some sort of monkey juice viagra. What's not to like?

And at no. 1. The Empty House. I don't think I need to explain this one. It has everything - the beautiful reunion and the heartbreaking flashbacks. It's the first time we see Edward Hardwicke as Watson. And it even has the fez scene of Fez Boy Friday fame!

I would be interested to hear which ones are other people's favourites

There's something so tender about Sherlock and John in the red headed league case because what do you mean they had a giggle over how silly the case is, john can report that SHERLOCK WIGGLES WHEN HES HAPPY, and then after they've finished investigating they go on a date, and then John calls Sherlocks eyes DREAMY
