I posted something about the Straw Hats self harming in the past (headcanon, but also practically canon) on X and got accused of romanticizing self harm like????? Maybe I wasnt clear enough or something but, is just talking about self harm romanticizing it??? I’m seriously asking I want to know!!! I just want to project my own experience getting clean on the characters I love, I just want to feel represented in some way. Is that bad????

chipping in to the vivisection scar!sanji concept from @avianhasnodignity! i think chopper had to have known about the scar's existence, all the way back from pre-ts. i think he saw it back at drum island, and didn't know what it really was until he joins the crew. with how much he has to patch sanji up, he eventually tries to research what could've caused such a precise scar, and when he finds more parallels in old journals, with frogs in place of people, the realistion's just a little too much for him. "i have to ask him about it when he wakes up," he thinks. i think he still tears up about it, too, when no one's looking. he'll keep the secret, for sanji's sake, but he really wishes he didn't have to.

Shipping characters with Usopp is fun because Usopp has a sense of dedicated pathetic vulnerability that every other character has too much self respect to stoop to. Thus, by virtue of witnessing such vulnerability, whoever you ship him with is forced to be vulnerable in turn and expose new elements of their character they likely try to repress or hide away. It's how these character react to this new found vulnerability that allows for interesting storytelling!
