Switching Polin’s First Kiss

They made it clear in the show that Colin hasn't been with any women (he didn't get seduced by Marina, he never mentioned any women on his travels, in fact, the show makes it clear it was NOT women but himself he spent time with lol).

Maybe Colin, realizing Penelope is going to accept the proposal of another suitor, asks her for one kiss before she does. Because, he has never been kissed before, and logically he doesn't want to be a man at the age of 24 without ever having kissed anyone. (But really, he just doesn't want to not get to kiss Penelope before he dies).

I hope they keep it like the books, but this could be an interesting flip of the scripts.

I expect a miscommunication scene in season 3 where Colin’s in the middle of giving Penelope helpful advice for finding her love match and Pen tells him she isn’t looking for love. When Colin insists that she should aim for a love match because of how happy Daphne & Anthony are compared to Marina, Pen insists she cannot marry for love.

Colin can’t help but ask why & Penelope admits to him that she once believed herself in love with a man who she thought was the finest of gentlemen but he was tricked into an engagement which was broken before he left town and even though she knows she should forget him, she still loves him.

Penelope will tell him she knows it makes her a fool, but even though her love was never more than an unrequited fantasy, it was real to her and it’s the reason she can understand what Colin cannot understand about Marina. Marina’s true love was George and she lost him forever, and if you can never be with the person you love, it doesn’t matter who you marry because they will never have your heart.

Since Penelope never names the man and Colin is…well, Colin, he’ll be convinced that Penelope fell in love with her cousin Jack who was tricked into a betrothal with her sister Prudence before Colin called him out for being a fraud & forced him out of town.

Who is Eloise’s “new friend” found in “a very unlikely place”?

I’m absolutely certain Eloise’s new “friend” will be Marina (Thompson) Crane.

1. It would be poetic for Eloise to seek out the friendship of Penelope’s enemy, the woman who tried to unfairly steal the man she once loved by trapping him into marriage.

2. It would set up a plot point for Penelope to have to face Marina knowing that Pen is Lady Whistledown, if Eloise “accidentally” let it slip. 

3. Eloise and Marina seem like they would be great friends, they’re independent and intelligent. 

4. It would slowly set up Eloise in season 5, by establishing a connection to Sir Phillip (I highly doubt that Julia Quinn would be ok with replacing Eloise’s end-game love interest). 

5. Marina would probably let slip that Penelope has been in love with Colin, which could lead to some plot, like maybe Eloise realizing she was very self-centered and didn’t take the time to notice Pen’s actual feelings, or that’s how Colin figures out Pen actually liked him. 

6. When Colin finds out Eloise and Marina are friends, that’s how he could learn that Penelope and Eloise are no longer friends and maybe try to help. 

The only other option I can think of would be Cressida Cowper, but I don’t think Eloise would go that far to be friends with that retched girl.

Persuasion Review

Everyone is talking trash about it, but I have to admit there is a scene where the main character Anne tries to pee by a tree, and she overhears the ex she has yearned for the last 8 years talk bad about her, and y’all I bawled. All my high school trauma came out in one scene. Just watching her life crumble and she just had to pretend to be fine. My husband was like... are you okay? And I’m just like YES(NO)

Other thoughts- Elliot was my favorite character. It was refreshing to watch a movie these days with not a single cuss word I can recall and no inappropriate sex scenes. The bathtub scene at the end also made me cry. There were a lot of tears.

Season 3+ Random Ideas/Theories

Here is a few random ideas/theories for what they could do in seasons 3 and on

-Penelope and Eloise won’t forgive each other until much after Eloise discovers Pen and Colin have romantic feelings for each other. Penelope will confront Eloise about how Eloise was self-centered and always assumed Penelope didn’t like courting or balls, so blind she didn’t even realize Pen was in love with her brother. I could easily see Eloise telling Colin that Pen is Lady Whistledown, trying to protect Colin. 

-I 100% believe Portia and Penelope will have major relationship development. The show has gone a lot further with Portia’s character than the books do, so I think Portia will learn to love Penelope and grow to be a better mother. We’ve seen sister love in season 2, I think we can see mother love in season 3.

-I think sister/friendship love will also be an important theme, as Penelope and Eloise eventually do make up. While I can see redemption and growth for Portia, I just can’t imagine it for Prudence yet. 

-Random thought- maybe Prudence will discover Penelope is Lady Whistledown, and try to blackmail Penelope. We had Eloise discover it already in Season 2, I think Penelope will start to feel trapped as some people slowly discover. I want to see Portia’s reaction to the reveal for sure. I hope we get Marina’s reaction to the news too.

-Penelope needs to come to face with all the people she hurt. 

-I think in the end, Penelope will find a new way to use her talent for writing that doesn’t hurt others. Maybe Penelope and Colin will write together.

-I really hope s3 has them married at least by episode 6 or 7. I hated not getting a married episode for Kanthony.

And now onto a few s4 and s5 thoughts-

-Since Theo Sharpe is from the poorer class, I feel like he will tie into Sophie and Benedict’s story. Maybe for the show, Sophie and Theo know each other. Maybe it will be as simple as Eloise giving Benedict advice to go after Sophie like she did with Theo.

-I think something tragic will happen to Theo after Benedict and Sophie end up together, that sends Eloise to do something drastic like running away to Sir Phillip. She will see her brother get his happy ending with his lower-class wife, but she for some reason won’t get her happy ending.

-Maybe something in Eloise breaks, and she decides to marry Sir Phillip just to please her family. She’s given up on independence and true love after the Theo tragedy. I think the tragedy would happen s4, and she is married to Phillip by the end of ep 2, even ep 1 s5. And the show is about the two of them learning to fall in love with each other and Eloise learning to be less self-centered and be a mother for the two kids. Alternatively, a tragedy with Theo leads to her connecting to Phillip, who just lost his wife. And she connects with him that way.

So is anyone gonna acknowledge that Allison basically tried to rape Luther, at the very least successfully sexually assaulted him? Honestly, if the roles were reversed and Luther had done that to Allison, y’all would be in an uproar.

Allison is past forgiveness in my eyes. Forcing someone to kiss you is DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR no matter how sad you are or how much you want a sexual distraction.

I’m starting episode 7, and I really hope she’s held accountable for her actions and her family finds out the truth of what she did to Luther. Luther deserves so much better.

People hating on Penelope because she outed her cousin for trying to trap a man in her lies so that he can take care of someone else’s kid in name and finance as well. You really gonna sit there and tell me that if you were in her shoes, you wouldn’t have done the same thing? You would let another female knowingly trap your brother or male friend so that he can raise someone else’s child without his consent???

But ok let’s blame Penelope for Marina’s lies and deception. And let’s not hold Marina accountable at all……yikes

I just can’t fathom that there are people out there who do not think these two actors are going to make for insanely attractive romantic leads. I mean people LOST IT when they saw that Colin scruff in the teaser and we haven’t gotten the full Penelope glow up yet! On top of that, in their interviews it’s very apparent they know their characters well and want to do the story justice.

Bible, Polin’s season is going to be the best one yet, I’m clutching my pearls as we speak.

I mean….those eyes are piercing straight through that corset and he doesn’t even have romantic feelings for her yet.
