Vision-Semi-Annual Review
BLACK HISTORY 365+ A Prospective
As we close out 28 days of acknowledging history, black history, I wanted to take you on a journey of inspiration from the perspective of Queen mother Gloria Carter’s son, Queen B’s Husband, Blue Ivy, Sir & Rumi’s father, Richard & Tina Lawson’s son in law & the rest of the Carter/Knowles/Lawson dynasty- a priceless unfiltered awakening & soul inspiring revelation.
This excerpt taken from Winning Mentality says it best. “Jay Z’s life advice will leave you speechless and will make you reconsider your goals.” a distinct knowing that it is for sure for you. It may not work today or tomorrow but it is the right thing...knowing that it is the right thing, knowing that what you’re doing & it is what is feeding you. Jay Z says “Believe in what your doing. If you don’t believe in it, you’re not doing it- you haven’t figured out the thing you do best at. When you feel it & you know, no one has to tell you - it is a KNOWING Always believe you’re great before anyone else does. You have to believe that when you draw from the well of your talent, it’s going to always be there”.
The belief that when your going for the basket on the court no one can stop you. Second Best has no dominion in my life, as Jay Z said it “ if other people are cool with settling for second, I don’t have an opinion about they’re wanting to settle so don’t have an opinion if I choose to be Jean-Michel or Shakespeare.
Challenge: like rap, it’s all about diversity. Every artists contributed to the music. Different types of sound & approaches - but it was great music. Jay Z had every album. No one wants to hear the same thing from the music, he wants to hear different stuff- we all do. No one wants cookie cutter music, clothing or anything else for that matter. Expression is best exhibited in your own uniqueness. It’s what makes us individual.
When you are self aware even in the presence of someone else’s ego, you can allow their ego to live in your space. The problem comes in when you engage their energy- Engaging their ego with yours, now something has to happen! Escalating to irreversible levels. If you don’t engage the ego & know how to manipulate it & give light to darkness people don’t know how to take you.
Success breeds envy As stated, The belief that MJ, Colby, King Lebron James, Tiger Woods, Misty Copeland, Debbie Allen, Felicia Rashad, Leon Talley, Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey, the late Cicely Tyson, Nate, Luvenia - when your going for the basket on the court no one can stop you. When everyone is on the court, they’re coming for you, when the opposing player, artist, golfer, business owners - mom, dad walks into the arena, they’re thinking about upstaging you, you’re like a trophy to them. They’re thinking, if I’m better than this person, the spotlight turns on me.
How many of us have had this experience in your walk in life? Here what he’s saying Fam, it could be anything you have in life. James Brown said it best in his lyrics- Watch me! Watch me! Watch me I got it! I got something that makes me want to shout, I got something I want tell you what it’s all about, I got soul & Um Super bad!
Jay Z closed out by saying this- That’s when you know you’re a superstar, a marked man or women, everyone’s coming for you. We all want to be the best at what it is we do. Your true authenticity is never in faking it until you making it.
The true you is cut of the natural rendition of who you were born to be. We all have a uniqueness placed inside of each of us. If you take time to search yourself, you’ll discover your unique talent imparted to you at birth! All you have to do to start is staying tapped in, tuned in & turned on.
Thank You Winning Mentality

The Joy in knowing All is Well
Mobile push notifications are a great way to keep you connected to your community on Tumblr without having to constantly check for likes, reblogs, or new followers.
Unfortunately, if you’ve ever had a Tumblr post quickly gain a ton of notes while your mobile push notifications were on, you probably ended up turning them off completely or maybe even deleted the post. We’ve seen it happen again and again. Not great, Bob.
You shouldn’t have to sacrifice seeing how your community regularly interacts with your Tumblr just because responses to one post in particular are flooding your phone. So we (finally) made it better.
You can now mute mobile notifications for individual posts
It’s easy, and there are a few ways to do it.
From a push notification: If you’re on an iOS device, press and hold on the push notification, then tap “Mute.” If Android is your style, just pull down the notification to expand it and see the same button.
From the post: Tap the meatballs menu (●●●) in the upper right-hand corner, mosey your finger over to “Mute” and then confirm your decision. You can also unmute the notifications on this post by following the same steps and tapping “Unmute” instead.
From your activity feed: Tap that cute little messaging bubble at the bottom of your dashboard. Navigate to the Activity tab, track down an activity line item from the post people just won’t stop reblogging, and then press and hold until you’re given the option to tap the “Mute” confirmation button.
Muting notifications only mutes the push notifications sent to your phone
You’ll always see every post activity line item on your dashboard and in the activity section, even if you turn off or mute push notifications. That way you’ll still have all of the information regarding who’s engaging with your post with none of the disruptive notifications popping up on your device.
Don’t see these beautiful new buttons? Make sure you’re running version 15.3 or later of the Tumblr app.

How can I keep myself healthy and safe?
From a personal perspective, I’d already gone on a bit of a health kick a few weeks back, which has meant trying to eat healthily (lots of fruit and veggies), exercising regularly, and quitting smoking and drinking (yes I do recognise the hypocrisy of being a doctor who occasionally smoked!).
I think one of the best things you can do during this time is to quit smoking or vaping because smokers are more at risk of respiratory infections. I wrote a little tweet-guide as to how I did it.
Vitamin C has been shown to help stave off the common cold. In general, I’d suggest you make sure you’re eating healthily. You can get natural sources of vitamin C, which include citrus fruits, kiwi, and broccoli.
Zinc has also been shown to be beneficial for colds. Natural sources of zinc include pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, and chickpeas.
If you’re eating a sufficiently varied diet, then you won’t necessarily need to take oral multivitamin tablets. However, as we’ll all be indoors more, we may find that we benefit from a vitamin D supplement (which we usually get from the sun).
If you’re living in an area where you can still go outside, then walks can be good for your physical and mental health. Try to maintain a good distance from others, and wash your hands for 20 seconds—especially when you get back home. As we still don’t have all the information about how long COVID-19 remains in the air, if you’re particularly at risk, I would perhaps advise staying at home.
I know COVID-19 is really scary; make sure you’re taking the right precautions, but also be sure to try and spend some time every day doing things you enjoy and taking your mind off the virus. My friend has put together a guide to ensuring good mental health at this time:
