Linc and I visited the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to do research for our next Pendergast novel. We were in a cab later talking about exactly how we shoot out the glass, blow up and burn down the Botanical Gardens, and all of a sudden we realized the cab driver was listening to us and looking rather perturbed. So Linc hastily explained we were not terrorists but novelists plotting a thriller. --Doug
Things We Love About Special Agent Pendergast: His Voice
"'Excellent.' D'Agosta heard a low, mellifluous voice behind him." -page 78, Relic
"'The name is Pendergast,' came the soft voice, finally." -page 86 The Cabinet of Curiosities
I love how his voice can go anywhere from being described as honeyed, quiet, and kind to cold, commanding and brisk.
