dear future lily,
in all honestly, I wish it could be you writing me instead, but seeing that time machines have not been invented yet, and I doubt they well because, let’s face it, if they were invented in the future somebody would have just got the information and traveled back to invent it themselves… that’s what my dad says anyway…
what was I saying?
yeah, I wish I could be you. because to be honest everything is crazy and the future seems so big and scary, and just around the corner and really far away at the same time… and I’d just really like to know that I’m going to be okay.
I’ve got the next four months printed out on my wall and I’m crossing down day by day. this year cannot end fast enough. I’m tired of all this crap.
mum says I’ve always been terrified of change, even small ones. like I cried when I got my walls painted. but you probably remember that. so how the hell do I adapt to this?
just in case you do discover a way to send a message back to me,
tell me it all turns out alright.
your predecessor,
lily.
hey you.
it makes me so sad to read through everything you’ve written, and remember just how shitty is was. I’m so sorry you had to go through the bad times for so long.
let me just say that the big and scary future thing is still very much an issue for me. and while I can’t vouch for what’s going to happen then… I can tell you that pretty much everything is great now. your mum’s happier than you’ve ever seen her, the girls are all healthy and beautiful, you had the best month of your life (so far) in europe, you’re surrounded by amazing people, you read wonderful books and listen to music you love.
you still have the charts on your wall but they’re now a positive aspect of your room, covered in plans and optimism.
you are more than okay. change is sometimes for the better.
you’re going to have the best year.
that’s a promise.
