sometimes i wish i wasn’t always the poet but instead the one being written about

a place he’d hoped he would never see agian

walls that once made a home

a place meant to be safe, full of comfort

a family meant to love

but this was never a home

not a place where we shared laughs

tho you like to tell people we were happy

you never asked

i’ll be better

like i was expected too

be the big sister you were raised into

play this role with no mistakes

you must flourish

or they will cut you off

thats just not enough

your faults there pilling up

head up high, hands to the side

but you are not a soldier

forced to live in a household of war
