The Big Chase
I wake up screaming...
After dreaming of you.
Final Days.
As one door closes another opens.
Nothing is as true as the fact that every instant of our lives is defined by opening and closing doors. Making decisions that take us in one direction instead of another and the foundation upon which parallel universes reside is our own decision making process and the way we forge our destiny one moment at a time.
To be caught up between a door that is closing and one that is opening is one of the more stressful moments in a human’s life. To be in between two cliffs, not fully out or in, can drive a man crazy. It is in these moments that our deepest soul searching can be found. The discovery of what we truly want from this life lives in the space between a door about to close and the space between another door about to open.
It’s terrifying, yes, but liberating all the same. I am still on a path of discovery, unsure of myself and many of my decision, but in this fragile state of leaving one place for another, with the door just about to slam shut behind me as new shiny gates open ahead, I am surprised and elated to say that I, for the first time in a long time, am happy exactly where I am.
On Running.
To run is to be free.
Lost on a road of self-discovery, the heart vibrates steady as the wings of bumblebees.
Underneath the sweet foliage of green, red and orange trees,
The pounding of feet against concrete echoes as sights and sounds sweep ahead and behind you in a matter of moments,
Much as the way time passes between future, past and present.
To run is to discover new parts of a city.
To look upon places never seen before, solitary, alone and on your own.
To run is to clear your mind as you find new ways to deal with the daily grind.
To run is to be free.
To run is the only way I know how to be me.
A Return To God
Spirituality is something that I have not yet had the opportunity to dig deep inside of. My father was raised a Roman Catholic under communism in the Czech Republic and my Mother was raised as a Muslim in Egypt. This combination has always made religion an important but uncomfortable topic of conversation, pushing me away from the traditional idea of being confined to one institutionalized religion as a tribute to God.
I believe that once spirituality is contained within four walls and to one set of beliefs and ideas, it also becomes crowded with opinions and false truths. It quickly becomes an overbearing and anxiety inducing beast filled with the expectations and disappointments of others when not followed exactly to the book.
How many times will I have to wander before I finally understand that my church and my spirituality is in the wild. Understanding that the altar at which I kneel is a rough and magnificent snow-capped mountain rising to the heavens in all its God-given glory is a feeling I quickly forget upon my return to the cities of man.
The sermon I close my eyes to is the gentle whisper of a fall wind rushing across the leaves of trees as they slowly turn their colors into blood red and pumpkin orange hues.
The pews at which I kneel are uncrowded and silent. I am wrapped in the mystery of creation and nature, lost on the ever winding paths and trails that lead nowhere and everywhere. Trails that lead into a powerful understanding of our insignificance and importance on this planet.
To understand God and the human purpose is to acknowledge that all nature and life is sanctimoniously brought on this planet in service of the other. To deny that every living being is interrelated across Earth’s oceans and lands is to fail to understand that there is a living miracle occurring at every second between every being.
I am connected to this earth. My feet bring me closer to her secrets as I march on trails of pine and beech, as my hands grip to granite face walls and my senses take in the sights, smells and sounds of God’s true kingdom.
Giving our full adoration and respect to Mother Earth is the most honorable and beautiful gift we can give to a higher being. For it is not only ourselves that said being built in their image, but this entire planet and universe.
An image and a planet that requires more our undivided attention, prayer and care more than ever.
The enemy of a good plan is the search for a perfect plan.

The Universe Has My Back.
An acquaintance of mine shared that statement as an intention he was making on the need for positive and forward thinking when it comes to everything in life.
I don’t necessarily believe that everything happens for a reason, but I do believe that things happen and it is up to you to react to them so that whatever it is, you make it work for you.
My intention on this sunny Autumn Friday is to stay truer to myself and to know how to distinguish between what I want and what I do not want. It’s so much easier said than done, but knowing yourself and what it is you truly want will unleash a confidence in all of your decisions that is grounded upon self-esteem and a positive mindset.
I will be transitioning to a new job in the coming weeks and it is an exciting but at times anxious process. The closer I get to that transition, the more I realize how little I want to be where I currently am and how desperately I crave a new adventure. Everything happens for a reason and whatever happens next I will know with full confidence that I do not want what I have now and no matter the consequence I am prepared to leave and move on to a different place in my young life.
The Universe has my back as long as I know how to stand up straight look myself in the eye and know, without a doubt, that I have my own back too.
Without realizing it, we go from an age where we say: "My life will be that" to an age where we say: "That's life." ...

Rotten Information
I’ve slowly been weening myself off of a constant flow of global information and news for the last few months. My morning ritual continues to be defined by good hazelnut coffee, the checking of e-mail (mostly deleting spam and junk) and a quick check of the NY Times to make sure I am, at the minimum, aware of anything interesting, threatening and/or absolutely maddening that is happening in this 21st century world.
My daily need to know as much as possible, perusing multiple websites and listening to talk shows about ‘the news’ has slowly begun to vanish as the repetitive and frustrating nature of the Global World Order continues to push forward in its unsustainable and dangerous money hungry ways.
The ridiculousness of the 2016 US Presidential Election has played a big role in my disillusionment and disinterest for the way things are. It has pushed me towards abstaining from television and social media and becoming more involved with myself, my friends and my community rather than spending my time caught up in the whirlwind of rotten politics and international relations that stink in almost every developed country worldwide.
In a way you could say I am thankful for this Clinton – Trump charade that plagues our airwaves and minds on a daily basis.
It’s time to take back action, to take back our voices and to take back our communities one step at a time with one action at a time. It’s those aspects of society that we have control over and it’s from those areas of society that a movement will hatch and be brought into life that can, and will, have an effect on the rotten socio-political-economic mess we currently live in
