"There was a man sent from heaven whose name was John". Many years ago, God smiled down on mankind and gave us John W. Davis. John would grow up, accepting God's gift of salvation. He would grow up wanting to share this gift with others. Graduating from high school, he would go on to Bible college. During this time, God would give him to Corrine, where they married over 55 years ago. During the years that followed, God gave John to be a daddy to Lisa, Christy, Marcy, Joanna, and John. 51 years ago, God sent from heaven, a man named John to Pastor a Wesleyan church. God would send a man named John, to Pastor several churches over 51 years, where he would be a light in a dark world, to proclaim the gospel of Christ, to be "steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord". 37 years ago, God sent, into my own life, a man named John. Having it made known I wanted to go into the ministry, Pastor...over the next 4 years...would encourage me, love on me, cheer me on, and occasionally scold me when I I wasn't being the best light I could be. There was never a doubt he loved me, and wanted the best for me. Many people have had the blessing and honor of being able to say at some point in their lives that God, "...sent from heaven, a man named John". Yesterday, God sent to heaven, a man named John. When Pastor saw, what he had preached for so many years, face to face. He traded his sword for a crown, then placed that crown at Jesus feet. Then Jesus stood and said... "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Welcome to the joy of thy Lord". Well done indeed, Pastor. A part of our heart is empty because you are gone. However, I will not say goodbye. I will say, "see you soon", and will strive to live a life like yours so when people look at me they will say, "there was a man sent from God. Mrs. Davis, Lisa, Christy, Marcy, Joanna, and John. It is my prayer that God's love, mercy, and peace "that passes all understanding" will overwhelm you and comfort you in the days and weeks to come.
