Go ahead, hug yourself!
Today, I hugged myself. I gave myself the biggest, strongest hug I could. I wrapped my arms so tightly around my body that it was almost as good as the real thing.
Today, I woke up this morning feeling a little blah, just out of sorts. So, I did the little things that always make me feel better like drinking coffee, eating avocado toast, and listening to some great music.
Doing all this I still felt like I needed to do more. I still was not perky about the day. So I sat outside and soaked in the sun when I realized, Aha! My body needed some attention too. So I got myself moving and in the end, instead of just meditating I spent that time to also hug myself.
I hugged myself for ten minutes. And in those ten minutes, I truly felt the love I have for myself and the love I am ready and excited to accept should the right person come around. The love I have for myself is something I now realize is meant to be cherished and practiced. Self-care and self-love have become a huge part of this new life I have designed for myself. In the new design of my life, I no longer need a man to validate myself and will no longer settle. I have always had my most cherished tattoo and memories marked on my body and in those 10 minutes I realized I truly believe that we accept the love we think we deserve and at this moment I know what I deserve. Someone who really sees me and unconditionally loves me for me; the goofy kid at heart who looks forward to the life ahead and can’t wait for the next adventure.
So, are you ready to love yourself like I am?
Get comfortable in any way you want and spend as much time as you need just hugging yourself. Not like your hugging your cousin, but like your hugging someone you love with all your heart. Someone you wish you could hug in the middle of this challenging world.
