“You may have a point there,” she agreed, turning her gift of cheese over again and re-considering it. “After all, everyone has slightly different taste, and you wouldn’t want to give a Brie to someone who prefers blue. Think of the drama that could cause.” With a sigh, she slipped the business card somewhere a bit more secure. “You must get an awful lot of business here. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a town that likes to dress up and kick their heels up quite like Havensdale, and I’ve traveled quite a bit in my life. What sort of themes do you usually lean towards?”
“Tables would be flipped, websites would be review bombed- there’d be carnage in the very streets of Havensdale!” Isaiah laughed although, if you found a cheese that really did it for you... You might really flip a table or two. He nodded thoughtfully at Ms Evermore’s comment. It was true, there was nowhere quite so ‘kooky small town’ than Havensdale. They threw a part just because it was a Tuesday. Maybe that was part of the reason Isaiah loved his job so much now. “So true. If it’s not a snowball ball, it’s a decade dance. Myself, personally? I love a character theme. Someone from the movies, literature- dressing up as a pop culture icon in a room full of ‘em makes for a whole lot of fun. And amazing pictures-,” he was already unlocking his phone- “Do you have Instagram?”

Vanessa’s night was going pretty damn well if she said so herself. Her first ‘official’ Havensdale event as Tessa’s girlfriend and she honestly couldn’t be happier. The wine didn’t hurt either.
She’d been on her way to find said girlfriend after finally spotting her talking to Charlotte, when Isaiah approached the two of them and she heard her name mentioned along with the word ‘Italian’ and hurried over.
“What was that about Italian?”
❤️
“Well—” As if on cue, Isaiah and Vanessa appeared. Tess gave him a look, eyes wide as if to say ‘uh oh, stop talking’ but he’d stuck them in it now. She’d planned a whole speech, you know? The food, the friends, the fun… Of course it was totally up to them if they wanted to do it- she and Isaiah just kinda jumped the gun. “Baby-,” she smiled, taking Nessy’s hand first (priorities), “Missed you.”
Okay, focus. Put the ‘heart eyes’ away for two minutes- “I was just about to ask Charlotte about it actually but, um, since everyone’s here… With the semester finishing up and summer just starting, all of us here and well- You know. Isaiah and I just got totally caught up talking about food and our amazing girlfriends so it just seemed, like, the obvious thing to suggest…,” she took a breath, looking over to Ness with only a slight puppy dog look in her eyes, “A double date. With us! The four of us. And Italian, if everyone agrees. It could be fun. I mean, it would be fun but what do you think? What do you both think?” @charlotte-the-confused
There are certain things that Charlotte was definitely expecting to happen this evening (delicious cheese, to have to work very hard to not spill any wine). There were also certain things she wasn’t expecting, and having the guy she super liked and her kind-of-extremely-scary roommate meeting was not one of them. All Charlotte could do was stare at Tessa, eyes widening a bit.
“I…I didn’t realize that you and Isaiah knew each other,” she managed to say. Was her voice cracking? God, how awkward. “Uh. I mean, that would be…Like, wow. That’s definitely an idea. A double date? Me and Isaiah with you and Vanessa? Yeah. That’s definitely a thing that could happen.”
❤️
Isaiah caught Tessa’s ‘uh oh, stfu’ stare a little too late. Oops. Oh well though, right? Why beat around the bush when you can be bold and direct! That was one of his many ‘-isms’ anyway. Plus, Tessa’s puppy dog eyes looked like they were gonna work magic on Vanessa. He turned his attention to Charlotte who wasn’t exactly jumping up and down about it... “Hey, no pressure,” he said softly (even though he might have been doing slight puppy dog eyes himself). “We don’t have to set a date or anything. Tessa’s right, we just kinda got caught up in the bragging about how amazing our dates tonight are.”
He extended his most charming smile to the whole group- “I do have an ‘in’ with the best Italian places. Every time me and Jules do an event at a top tier restaurant, they’ve thrown around ‘I owe you ones’ like there’s no tomorrow. Just say the word and I can hook us up,” he quickly added- “Whenever. Plenty of time. I’ll make my schedule wide open for you.” @foxy-vanessa
original-willow.
“Oh, I thought I was special,” Willow laughed. “Lyndsy McArthur truly is a gracious host, isn’t she? As kind as your offer to trade is, I think I am well and truly content with what I got. Although, cranberries are always tempting, no?” She took the offered card, looked it over. “It’s a pleasure, Mr. Jennings. I’m Willow. Willow Evermore. And what sort of events do you plan?”
“I like to think every gift bag has been specially selected with love and attention. Cheese is the way to the heart,” he added with an ever charming grin. “Absolutely. I’ve never turned down a cranberry yet. The pleasure’s all mine, Ms Evermore. Well, my business partner and I specialize in the special occasion. If there’s a big day, a cause for celebration, or if you’re just in the mood to get a group of friends together for a very special half a dozen drinks... We’re your ticket. Personally, I like a yacht party and I’m partial to a theme. Who doesn’t love to dress up? Home office is based here in, ah, well- home sweet home too if you’d rather drop by. Jules- Julia St. Clair- my business partner is the real boss.”
I cry every time I see this cause I’ve never related to anything more
i’mmmmmm gonna test out a fc change (lucien laviscount) ! what a surprise !!!
“There’s leftover cheese? Oh no, I really shouldn’t? But if you insist…I suppose I could take a little bit, I guess. Fine, some Brie. Just to take it off your hands. And a bottle of wine? Really, you’re too sweet.”
"You too, huh?” Isaiah grinned, holding up the gift bag Lyndsy McArthur had given him with a couple of bottles and bries. “I’ve got a smoked cheddar and something with cranberries through it if you want to make any trades. I’m Isaiah Jennings, by the way-,” he held out a very convenient business card with his free hand-, “If you’re ever looking to plan an event here or otherwise.”

It’s a gift but I hope it comes off as charming too. [ winks ] That’s fair, it’d take a bold and brave patron to be the first to order up a cup of that. Green goo is either hit or miss. Yes, I love it! Valentine’s Day in Havensdale is gonna be so cute. I’m totally getting ahead of us though, right? We should get through the summer of love first. It’s so weird but I like it. Yeah, of course I can tell her thanks. Don’t worry, I’ve got you.
Um, so speaking of Nessy and Isaiah… I have something I wanted to ask you—
It comes off as the perfect combo of charming and smart. Truly, I’m jealous of your talents. I’m the first one to admit that it wasn’t exactly the most appealing looking thing on a hot chocolate, but at least it tasted good. It’s weird that we’re still only in June. I feel like time doesn’t work normally here, don’t you agree?
Uh, sure. What exactly would that be?
Isaiah was having such a great night. Sure, it wasn’t champagne on his favourite party yacht but still. Havensdale still held strong in his heart and he never got tired of all his mom’s friends saying how handsome he looked. What? He did. Of course he was also actively trying to make sure she didn’t scare off Charlotte too much. Who knew how many adorable baby Isaiah photos his mom had in her purse, ready to weaponize at any given moment. Anyway.
Speaking of his drop dead gorgeous date--- “Charlotte! Hey, there you are. I think I lost you somewhere between the entrees and Lyndsy McArthur wanting to know where I got this sweater. Tess, hey!” He’d only had to speak with Tessa Thomson all of five minutes to know that they clicked. Astrological friendship compatibility confirmed. “Can’t wait for the big date. You and Vanessa were a ‘yes’ for Italian, right?” @foxy-vanessa
ahhhhh there is a 200 gif pack of kenrick sampson for isaiah!!!

Yeah, no offense to the truly fantastic cheese at this thing, and I really do mean that the cheese is fantastic because I’m trying to figure out how to smuggle the sharp cheddar home via my jacket pocket, but this doesn’t really feel like it would match up with a yacht. Not that I’ve ever been on a yacht. I’m not that fancy. See, the welcome’s sign idea, now, that is a good sales pitch. It would definitely increase tourism dollars. Oh. You’ve been out west? I’m glad you enjoyed it. [raises an eyebrow] Charlotte? Yeah, not ringing…Wait. Coffee shop girl is named Charlotte. The super perky one. Is that your girlfriend?
Oh yeah? If you want, nearer the end of the night I can work on a very charming diversion while you slip out the door with whatever’s left of the cheeseboard. Fancy is my normal. Coming back home, having our business based here, it’s all in the name of humbling me and my perhaps snobbish tendencies. Yachts are cool though, if you ever get the chance, I recommend getting on board. Thank you, I appreciate the support. Yes, I do the travel. Our business- mine and Julia St. Clair’s- is called ‘Without a Hitch’ event planners and I’m the pretty face that heads out and seals deals. And steals mini shampoos from fancy hotel rooms. [ laughs ] Coffee shop girl? Yeah, that’s Charlotte. She works right here actually which is why I keep losing track of her; she’s very popular. I- Well, I don’t to jinx anything but... That’s the Charlotte.
meredithbrightmiss.
I do look wonderful as always, thank you. Sorry, but no way do I have enough time to be hosting any sort of event. Want me to pass this on to the hospital board?
No, thank you. Ah, the grueling schedule of a Havensdale General doctor strikes again and just when real magic could have happened. There was a five piece jazz band I was already envisioning getting you the hook up for. [ grins ] Yes, please, I’d really appreciate that. Doctor Brightman, right? Caleb- Mr Brightman’s sister? Caleb’s sister? I never know if I’m ‘adult’ enough yet to call my parents’ one thousand friends by their first names.
charlotte-the-confused *:・゚★
She could feel herself (hopefully) calming down a little bit. The last thing she wanted to do was seem like some sort of awkward teenaged girl in front of all the Havensdale parents. Especially if she’d see them the next day at work. So, she took another sip of the wine. Fine, maybe it was more of a gulp. “Oh, it definitely passes the Charlotte Lawrence taste test. It gets an A plus.” Even if it hadn’t, she would have said that it did. As flattering as it was to hear Isaiah say he’d run off and get a fresh bottle for her, Charlotte didn’t think she could handle this…soiree alone. As he mentioned her roommate, she couldn’t help but frown a bit, confused as to why he wanted her to spend time with Vanessa. “Oh. It’s fine. I mean, I see her all the time at school. And I’m sure she wants to socialize with other humans.”
“That’s great. This bottle has been, technically, studying for this day all its life so, I’m glad the grades matched the effort,” he joked, feeling himself relax just a teeny bit more. She had nothing to be nervous about. Charlotte was so kind, so likeable. She had a beautiful energy that Isaiah couldn’t help being drawn too. (He had no doubt she was a Taurus.) The fact that her smile faltered went over his head and he was definitely already planning on schmoozing Vanessa and her date for future couples-and-couples plans. “There’s no better human,” he protested, flashing a grin. “I’m not complaining though. The more time I get to spend with you, Charlotte, the better.” He casually reached for her hand then, closing the space between them further. “Do you want to sit? Before someone else makes their way over and tries to steal one of us away.” He was only partly joking too. Isaiah snuck another glance over at her. Yup, still beautiful. Although, it didn’t take an expert analyst to suppose she maybe wasn’t the most comfortable in this type of setting. “Hey, if you could be anywhere else right now- anywhere in the world- where would it be? Snap your fingers and we’d be there kind of thing.”

evolution-of-emily:
Yeah. Maybe, just a little bit. Once again, no offense, but it’s a lot. And if it is for a sales pitch, you might come across a bit more like a used cars salesman than whatever smooth operator I’m sure you actually are. Oh, I’m sure we’ve actually bumped into each other. This town is freakishly good at ensuring everyone bumps into each other constantly. No NYU for me. I’m more of a West Coast girl, sorry. I do appreciate your aesthetic qualities, but I don’t think I know your girlfriend.
None taken, none taken. I’ll take note of that, thank you. Maybe I’m off my game tonight, I usually close deals over champagne on a yacht somewhere. That and my parents are here, makes being cool much, much harder. Saying that, my partner Julia’s the boss, really. We probably have. That’s all part of the small town, Havensdale Valley, charm. They should put it on the ‘welcome’ sign. Not so good if it’s someone you don’t like though. West Coast, huh? Cool. Love traveling out that way. [ laughs ] Thank you. Right, right. You might bump into her tonight though, you know what Havensdale’s like. Charlotte’s great. Very likeable, super smart, sweet and, ah, I’ll quit gushing right about now.
charlotte-the-confused:
“Hi. You look…Hi.” It would have been too much to start gushing about how utterly handsome Isaiah looked, even though that was true. “Is this for me? Thank you!” She took one of the glasses and took a sip. It was good. Really good. Definitely better than most of the wine she drank, which wasn’t hard because most of the wine she drank was less than ten dollars a bottle. “It’s fine. There are a lot of regulars from the cafe here who wanted to say hi and it was sort of nice seeing them when I’m not behind the counter, so, yeah. It was nice. But it’s nice seeing you too. Um. Vanessa is here? Really? Oh. Ok.”
“Hi,” he grinned. Isaiah didn’t point out when she got a little flustered but it make him feel like the outfit changes had been worth it. Truth be told, she made him a little flustered lately too. Of course playing it suave was his default. “Anytime. That one’s supposed to be a pretty safe bet on being a crowd pleaser but do you like it? If it’s not passing the Charlotte Lawrence taste test, I’ll jog right back home and pick up another bottle.” He smiled, listening to her and already formulating a plan. He couldn’t help it, he was an event planner, he (and Julia, of course) was thee event planner. “Of course, it’s life from the other side of counter tonight. Yeah, I think she came with someone too. You’ll probably want to catch up but hopefully I can steal away some more of your time right now.”
