First Class Recorded Dopeness
First Class Recorded DopenessFor those of you that don’t already know, February brought the online release of One Oz’ new E.P produced by Micall Parknsun “1stClass Recorded Delivery”. Having already forged a reputation for dropping some of the sickest lyrics coming out of Edinburgh, it’s no surprise that this E.P is pure FIRE from start to finish. With every track One Oz shows that he has what it takes to deliver the kind of lyrics that grab you from within the speaker and take you on a journey, every track showing the listener that no matter what kind of feeling the epic beats might invoke.. He’s got it covered.

RazorKingz Interview w/ The Rap Jar
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to “RazorKingz”, fans of The Rap Jar will recognize the name from the previously posted video for “The Reaper” featuring Celph Titled.
As those of you that had the good sense to hear the track will know, the duo (Boom-Stick & Tank) are far from inexperienced in both lyricism and production, but I felt that with such a rich and classic sound resonating from the RazorKingz camp.. Their story had to be told.
With having very little navigation experience in Glasgow, it was a bit of a mission trying to locate Go-Go studios but I was welcomed by the Kingz themselves, first Tank – the instrumental alchemist behind the blistering beats, then Boom-Stick – the quick wit and furious voice of RazorKingz. Once inside the studio I was raring to begin my very own walkthrough on RazorKingz and both Tank & Boom were more than happy to tell me what I wanted to know.
Boom, coming from Middlesbrough (Originally Inverness), began his career as an M.C as part of the group “Project Mayhem” which gave him the opportunity to collaborate with Kenneth Greene a.k.a A.O.T.P’s Doap Nixon on one of the group’ tracks, but later left due to poor handling by the record label they were signed to. After a 5 year absence from the scene, he began to reclaim his passion and returned with inventive wordplay and killer punch-lines.
Tank, hailing from Lochwinnoch, also began his career as part of another group known as “Blakhart” alongside fellow M.C’s – DJ Zeeny, Dirty Bowler & Fat Bastard. He has also worked with well-known Scottish DJ/Producer Bunty Beats, who was also one of his tutors during his time spent studying at James Watt College in Greenock where he honed his skills and developed his very own signature style, resulting in the “Golden Era” reminiscent sound that, when combined with Boom-Stick’ raw lyricism… creates a finished product any SERIOUS Hip Hop fan would get behind.
When asked who and what their main influences were in Hip Hop, both Boom & Tank could easily agree that it was, and still is all about the classic “Boom-Bap” sound from the previously mentioned “Golden Era” which is evident in any of their beats which they were more than happy to let me hear during our meeting. An admirable trait in both members is the clear benchmarks set with the completion of a track, making every track better than the last… TRUST ME.
Though the pair are clearly friends outside of the studio, their process during their own parts of the production is more of a solitary process. Being a fan of the release with Celph Titled, I had to ask about what it was like during the process. Both Boom & Tank are clearly still in the throes of the track, being almost completely unaware of the buzz generated by the track but still bursting with energy from the experience. So much of both of the guys has clearly gone into the track, but they both had to give MAJOR love to their homie Chris Torres of Dojo Design (www.dojodesignstudio.com) and formerly “bringdaruckus.com” for the amazing custom artwork he did for the release.
Because “The Reaper” is one of the most notable collaborations between a Scottish Hip Hop act and an established artist overseas, I wondered whether the Kingz had any other plans for major collaborations, and as anyone who is familiar with RazorKingz may know, they currently have a track in production with Billy Danze of M.O.P which has generated buzz amongst eager fans looking forward to the next dose of deadliness from the pair. Because of work and family commitments, and the fact that the entire operation is funded by the Kingz themselves.. They have to work the music into their personal lives when they can, but that hasn’t stopped the boys from drawing up a devastating battle-plan that’s sure to shake U.K Hip Hop to it’s very core.
Within 5 minutes of meeting RazorKingz, it is clear that it’s not only a musical partnership that the two share. They are friends who have been through a lot together and have played a massive support role in each other’s lives, both professionally and personally. And it is that kind of chemistry that, in my personal opinion, makes it so easy for them to create the kind of music Hip Hop is all about.
Because of my abysmal navigation techniques, our meeting had to be cut short. But in the time I had with RazorKingz, it was made very clear to me that they are playing for keeps.
With every obstacle, they overcome. They are RazorKingz.

Congratulations Hudson Mohawke!
I would like to start this article by extending a massive congratulations to Ross Birchard a.k.a Hudson Mohawke on officially signing to Kanye West' colossal record label G.O.O.D Music. Those unfamiliar with "HudMo" shouldn't worry, because in this article I will briefly cover previous releases and projects he has been involved in.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rq33ifERq8
At the age of 15, Birchard (under the title DJ Itchy) gained recognition by becoming the youngest DMC finalist in 2003. After a successful stint on Glasgow University' Subcity Radio and various other appearances, Hudson Mohawke was born.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9LDK86b60U
"HudMo" was quickly signed to Warp Records despite having a limited track record, he made many official releases, but still gained a following through unofficial remixes and productions and quickly became an underground sensation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krLk1E1zsc8
As one half of "TNGHT" alongside "Lunice" he has released a number of huge tracks that have had commercial as well as underground success, which no doubt has increased his fan-base. It certainly got the attention of Mr West because he has been credited for working on four massive tracks from the G.O.O.D Music - "Cruel Summer" album.
All in all, Mr Birchard has worked hard, and i'm sure none of you will dispute, it has PAID OFF.

Wardie Burns - S.O.S Mixtape
“Live from S.O.S-H.Q... in fact, Werds f***in’ kitchen…”
Having never wrote a review for any other blog, when I was approached to review an artist I had heard a lot about seemed quite intimidating but here goes. 2013 see’s the release of the “SOS Mixtape” by the charismatic local rapper Wardie Burns. With choice tracks that have been unreleased up until now, this mixtape is an audio assault, with a variety of contrasting beats that blend with Wardie seamlessly. That being said I do feel that some do blend better than others, but that’s personal opinion after hearing the remainder of the album, they didn’t stand out as much. But now onto the good stuff… Wardie displays an intensity and flow that would leave u in a neck brace after half an hour with a constantly adapting lyricism. Diamonds (Remix) which is now one of my favourite Scottish Hip Hop tracks and if you’re easily offended… stay away from the sickening sick “Sick Thoughts” another in the combo of heavy hitting tracks. While the beats vary Wardie’ never falters, and never fails to crack a giggle when you hear “Wet Vagina” & “Superman High” but even though he may conjure up a comedic image, this artist is definitely NOT a laughing matter. Fans of Wardle & SOS team will not be disappointed, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

“Everybody, everybody, everybody, Everybody sit your bitch ass down and listen, To this true mothafuckin’ story told by Kendrick Lamar on Rosecrans, Ya bitch”
That’s how he started, but while we waited for this awesome entry I had to deal with some really awful artists from London. First it was Grime duo called Scrufizzer. It’s not just that I don’t like this genre of music - one of the artists actually was making faces like Eli Porter not to mention the fact that he sounded like a 12 old kid. It just wasn’t good. After that a group called Rascals came on the stage. It was just like N-Dubz but there was more of them. Not a single person interacted with the support artists, no hands in the air, not even bumping heads to the beat. They tried, but failed miserably. Whoever was picking the support for Kendrick should do some research before booking them and get someone who the people want to listen to.
After that a huge person with an afro named Ali came on the stage with his Mac and that’s when the spaceship took off. Starting with the Art of Peer Pressure and then King Kendrick jumped on the stage. I’m just going to say it now, he is really humble and not too flashy. He knows how to interact with his fans; how to make them smile or feel special. Then he tried to test us all out, performing his old songs he did some of the songs from Section 80 and some from his older projects. I know he tried to see who fucked with him since the day one, but honestly? Most of the people who attended the gig were just there because they know him from either Swimming Pools or the Recipe. Wearing fake clothing acting like they’re the shit just because they know one song. Good thing they actually paid for the tickets, but in their place there would be a thousand other people willing to go to see K.Dot.
The main act impressed me by supporting his good buddy A$AP Rocky and promoting his new album that just came out on Tuesday and performed a verse from Fucking Problems which also features Drake and 2Chainz. He also gave mad props to Schoolboy Q just before getting on Backroom Freestyle by remembering the old times how they used kick freestyles no matter the situation. Everyone went mental when they heard the beat. The biggest disappointment for my friends and myself that went with me to see this great artists was the fact that we did not have a chance to hear HiiiPower. Probably his biggest best track he has ever done was NOT played during the gig which made us feel really sad. He didn’t miss out on freestyling a little bit, spitting acapella, giving people a bit of advice or story telling. Those things are probably the best things in the live music shows.
He closed with a song that I do not even know to be honest. But it was an unforgettable night in both aspects, good and bad. My opinion? I enjoyed Kendrick no matter how bad the support was. I was also really surprised when he took all his water and started handing it out to people. It was really nice of him to do that, I have never seen an artist doing something like that for their fans, he is one humble motherfucker.

FreakyMonkeySequence WANTS YOU!
I hooked up with Gibon last night and we talked about his B&W sessions with artists. Basically an artist picks a spot and song and he shoots a video for you for FREE! If you're an artist and you don't have a lot money in your budget to get a video director to shoot something professional then here's an opportunity for you.
Gibon is a video director from Edinburgh and does his job like no other. His most popular video has almost 100k hits on youtube so I suppose that speaks for itself. If you are interested in it send him a message on FMS Facebook page with proposition or if you don't feel that confident you can get The Rap Jar to arrange it for you!

Recently The Rap Jar had a chance to join Silvertongue in the studio while he was working on his upcoming mixtape. No word on the project when it's going to be released or what is the name, but we've got some kind of idea about the mix tape. It's going to be released sometime around March and its produced by Konnsky. There's also a word about a remix to it with other MCs from Edinburgh.
The video above is a 4 minute freestyle (No pre-written shit) on the beat that is going to be used for the single. Also don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube channel so you can get video updates!

This video is trippy as fuck, I'll just put that out there.
I love the video though, original. Great production by King Kong Kutmaster K and cuts from Biggi B Boy Beatmaster B, fits well with the video and the raps. It all fits the atmosphere since most of the people (don't) love the government these days. Mic Master Mick who is the MC on this track obviously knows how to get his bars sound unique on this kind of beat.
You can get this track for free at www.blacklanternmusic.com and you can catch Ill Papa Giraffe live this Saturday at Dirty District @Steamie. Also you should watch out for their upcoming album also called Ill Papa Giraffe which will come out some time in February.
God damn their names are weird as hell, but they make good music though, The Rap Jar approves!

Freshhh Releases!
One of them from OneOZ, it's a leaked intro from his forthcoming EP called F.C.R.D which is dropping this month hopefully. What you can find on it is production from Micall Parknsun. There hasn't been any word about features on the album but hopefully we will hear some other MCs on that project!
Click the photo for the link to this awesome track and watch this space for the updates about Announce
Another release I've prepared for you guys tonight is Bunty Beats from Glasgow and King RA from United States. Not a Scottish rapper, I know but the producer who ripped the record to pieces. It's a full single release with a remix, instrumentals and acapellas.
You can hear a classic Cold as Ice by MOP sample but King RA actually shows how it is done with his lyrics. I hope there is more to come from this duo because RA sounds perfect on Bunty's beats.
The remix is also sounds good, sample from Mobb Deep and some scratches does the job. Great job guys and click the image for the link!

STOP WHAT YA DOIN AND READ THIS! Nah but seriously, how dope this track is? I found this while I was digging through tons of material and this song was outstanding. Great production and the bars even better. Both, Loaded and Girobuster went in on the beat which just sounds amazing.
Stop What Ya Doin is a single from the upcoming mixtape by loaded which should drop in a couple of months. I'll be waiting for it, this guy really has talent. Give it a listen and enjoy it, because it's worth it.
LORD PIU$
Madhat McGore is back in 2013 with some fresh music. This time it's a EP called "1" and it sounds pretty good! Got some good production from DJ Anemate, Big J and Steg G.
Cope that right now, it's free and here's the link!
New track or maybe more like an instrumental from Mr. Riddlah! He said it's all cool and to use it for your mixtape or a track or even a sample. I'd say use it, since you've got a chance because there might not be opportunity like this again!
