Role play blog for the main character in Doki Doki Literature Club. Mun is 18+.

her heart skips into her throat  ,  and she tries to swallow her nerves as she looks at him again  .  “  i mean…if you’re gonna do it  ,  you may as well get it over with  .  ”

He might as well get it over with like she said, then. Of course, he wanted to say all of it but now that she asked him to, there’d be no one to blame but herself if she got all flustered.

     “What you think of me means a lot to me, you know? You’re smart, a good writer, and I’ve probably said it before but- just plain sharp. Nothing gets past you, which is why I know you’ll know I’m telling the truth when I say all of this. Plusyou’resupercute.”

     “I always have, haven’t I? I’m pretty sure we both knew we’d end up growing old together.”

That came out wrong... or did it? 

     “Wh-What  I mean is... I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. And I don’t plan on letting you die, either. It’s bad enough we hang out so much that people think we’re dating. Imagine if something happened to you? The police would investigate me first, the whole club would be all ‘oh Shuji what have you done’, and ‘oh Shuji this is all your fault, you know you’re supposed to watch her’ blah blah blaaaah.”

“  why are you staring at me like that  ?  ”  her chest swells with anxiety  ,  as she turns her head away  .  his surprise to her sudden kindness only makes her embarrassment worse  .  “  don’t make me feel weird  .  ”

I shouldn’t tease Natsuki so much. Deep down she’s got a heart. 

     “It just means a lot coming from you and- I mean, are you sure you want me to answer that? It could get gushy.”

     “I realized my mistake after I made it. It’s late. Shut up, you- me- whatever you are to me.”

     “Oh I consider the whole club my GF’s. Sayori has been my GF forever, even if she doesn’t know it. Natsuki and Yuri are my GF’s... I even consider Monika my GF.”

I swear he means ‘good friend’.

     “Oh, you haven’t heard? Turns out we’re immortal, Sayori. Looks like I’m stuck with you for eternity. I hope you like the few moments I get grumpy, because they’re only going to get worse as I get older.”

Well that shut him up. Here he was, readying himself for a friendly yet harsh linguistic joust with Natsuki, only to be beaten with kindness.

     “Oh... Um... thanks...”

As she waited for him to respond, she couldn’t help but realize that she’d never seen him before. At least, not out here. Was he new?

His words gave her pause, however, and she seemed to stare, blinking, before cracking a smile and giggling a little.

“I’m on the track team, so I hope I’m fast!” A pointed look, but one of amusement. She hops a little on her prosthetics, bouncing with them without them actually leaving the ground. “Buuuuuut I bet that’s not why you came over here, huh? Unless you really wanted to see the Fastest Thing On No Legs in action!”

“Hey, you’re new here, right? I’m Emi. Emi Ibarazaki. What’s your name?” Seems Shuji’s first impression didn’t go so bad after all!

     “Call me Shuji. And I promise you I’m more couth than that...”

Okay, rough start, but she seemed to play off his linguistic quirk as some sort of charming nature. At this point, honestly? He’d take it. He normally wasn’t the one to turn into your typical anime boy, gushing and tripping over his own words in front of pretty girls. But there was something about Emi that got Shuji all tongue-tied.

He practically swallowed down the heat attempting to rush to his cheeks at these thoughts. He went for a handshake that turned into a wave and then he tried to bow in greeting and mixing up all these types of greetings nearly made him trip.

     “I- I just- hi. I’m- yes I’m new here. Agh. I swear I’m not this awkward! I just am having an off day. New school and stuff, you know. Heheh.”

Clank, clank, clank, clank.

A resounding set of metal against asphalt rings out as Emi runs around the track, faster and faster, speed blinding as she gets more and more worked up.

Clank, clank, clank, clank.

It doesn’t take long for her to discover that someone’s watching, and she slows down a little bit before bounding over to him, her running prosthetics giving her a little more bounce in her step.

“Hey! I saw you watching from the track. Did you need something?”

Shuji was in awe for the most part. It was an immediate slap in the face that, against all odds, someone with prosthetics were already better at running than he was with his perfectly healthy legs. Granted, he didn’t exactly work out (not that this girl needed to know that... ahem...)  but it was impressive nonetheless.

He immediately told himself not to stare out of curiosity, making sure his eyes met her emerald gaze. His brain said, A pleasure to meet you. Hello, my name is Shuji and I’m new here. I couldn’t help but be impressed with your lap time. It’s not every day you see someone with such beauty and talent. But what he actually said was...

     “Wow. Real fast. With the running-”

If Shuji had bit down on his own tongue any harder at that moment, it might’ve bled. So much for first impressions...

she pauses  ,  then has to snort  .  what the hell kind of statement is that  ?  and there’s no way that’s all it was  .  still  .  it’s cute  .  and not entirely wrong  .  

“  well  ,  yeah  .  there’s not much to hate about the beach !  my favorite’s always surfing around on water pokemon  .  definitely a plus in their favor  .  ”

tilting her head  ,  natsuki nods as he talks  .  “  solid choices  ,  solid choices  .  nah  ,  i think gen 1 is probably the best  ,  so  i give you props for sticking classic  .  i think for me  ,  pikachu’s definitely my main  ,  torchic  ,  eevee  ,  scizor  ,  slurpuff and litwick  .  litwick is super cute  .  plus  ,  when it evolves into a chandelure it gets super op  .  ”

Phew. Dodged a bullet. He had a feeling she was probably suspicious. After all, Natsuki was sharp and somehow always found out what his secret thoughts were, but for now he seemed in the green.

     “Ahah, chandelure? Oh no, isn’t that one of the ones with the really messed up pokedex entry? What is up with that, anyway? I kind of love how on the outside in the anime everything seems so happy and straight-forward and then when you look into the games’ pokedexes and all the manga everything gets so dark and twisted with kids dying and stuff.”

For some reason that shtick felt all too familiar...
