Hey, Love! What have you been up to?

Hi mom! Lots of things, forming new dance team, the whole STEM club with Emma, and the whole Ana......the list keeps going on and on.

"So, now your telling me that this case is more important then me?!? Geez, nice to know where and when I fit in." Mariana continues to look out the window on her side, wiping away a few tears that formed.

Mariana pulls out her cell phone and looks through her text, she opens a new text message and types Tia, to see if you was free to hangout and actually help her learn the dance routine, that she has missed due to skipping practice.

"You know what?" Stef turned front and started the SUV before pulling out of the space.  "It’s late; we’re both tired.  We are going to go home; you are going to go upstairs to bed as soon as we get there, and then tomorrow, we are going to talk about this and what your punishment is going to be.  In the meantime, you will be grounded, not only for leaving, but for your attitude - the length of time will be determined by Mama and me tonight, which includes a lack of phone, so hand it over."

Stef held her hand out, waiting for her daughter to hand her the phone.

Mariana can feel herself burning with anger towards her mom right now. She let's out a deep sign. "No, I have no reason to be grounded this time. You and everyone else forgot about me and so there's no need for you to act like you care now."

Mariana goes back to looking at her social media sites on her phone and texting her friends till they arrive home.

Mariana wipes away some of her tears and climbs into the passenger side of the car without saying a word. She puts her seatbelt on and then looking straight out of her window.

"I never didn’t want to talk or anything. If I recall you and everyone else in the...

"Forget it." Mariana moves to the side and continues to walk. She couldn’t believe that her mom just asked her what she meant. Some more tears starts to fall down her face as she continues on, trying to hide her emotions.

Stef reached out and grabbed her daughter by her arm, effective pulling her back around to face the blonde cop.

"No, Mariana," she said sternly as she looked her daughter in the eye, "I’m not just going to forget it.  You disappeared for the day, and Mama and I have been worried sick!  You turned your phone off so that we couldn’t find you, which only added to our fear that something had happened to you.

"The lunatic that put your sister in the hospital is still out there!  We may know who he is at this point, but we don’t know where he is, and you could have been seriously hurt."  She stood back looking her daughter in the eye.  The tears that were brimming broke Stef’s heart, and she had to fight the urge to take the girl into her arms.  "If you don’t want to talk about it, Mariana, I can’t force you.  I can only be there for you as much as you let me.  However, scaring us like you did today is not okay!  Now, get in the car; we’re going home."

"I never didn’t want to talk or anything. If I recall you and everyone else in the freaking house basically stopped communicating with me for about a week or so. You guys particularly forgot about me and left me by myself."

Mariana voice picks up with a little anger now. “It’s not surprising that the moment I decide to leave and be alone, that’s when you and mama notice me! I see exactly how this works now.” She shifts her whole entire body to closer to the passenger side door.

Mariana shakes her head, and looks out to the water. ” Oh really?!? Because last time I checked everyone in that house has been all preoccupied with Callie or each other or something else” Mariana gets up and starts walking off. “Go back to giving attention to Callie or mom or whoever. I just want to be alone, since clearly that’s what everyone has left me to do this past few weeks.”

Keeps walking away from Stef. She notices her phone vibrating in her pocket. It was one of the girls that she has been hanging out with this past week, asking if she wanted to go to the mall tomorrow. Mariana quickly answered the text message saying yeah, and that she’ll be there in a little while.

Mariana notices some tears falling down her face, and quickly wipes them away. She couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that her moms really did hurt her this past few weeks. They made her feel like they totally forgot her, and everyone else did too. She continues to walk, not hearing any sounds but just her thoughts.

Stef stood and went after her daughter, noticing her pull it out and stop to answer it.

"Mariana," she started as she stood in front of the Latina girl, "what are you talking about?  The case?"

Mariana jumps a little after being startled by a familiar voice. She looks up and sees that it’s Stef. Mariana stares off in the air, thinking on how she will answer the question.

"I wasn’t trying to find or look for anything. I went for a walk and ended up here on the beach. I made sure I was safe, besides it’s not like you or mama even noticed a thing…. " Mariana walks past Stef after answering her question.

She continues to walk, not wanting to get a ride from Stef, because if she did, she knew she’ll get a ear full, for something that honestly isn’t her fault.

Wouldn’t have noticed?  Stef reached out and grasped her daughter’s arm gently, but firm enough that she would understand this conversation was far from over.

"Mama and I wouldn’t have noticed?"  Stef guided the girl over to a bench and sat down with her.  "Mariana, we’ve been worried sick about you all day!  We’ve been calling, but your phone’s been off; we tried tracking you, but your phone’s been off.  While I appreciate that you made sure you were safe, that also would’ve included letting us know where you were."

Stef’s anger dissipated at the look on her daughter’s face.

"Honey, what happened?  I mean, it’s not like you’ve never asked us for a day to yourself before, and it’s not like you to just disappear on us…not anymore, so talk to me.  What’s going on in that head of yours, huh?"

Mariana continues wading the waters, until she reached her back pocket and takes her phone out, realizing that it’s really been a whole entire day that she hasn’t been home or checked in with either of her moms, as well the fact that it’s getting very late.
