Why do people look down on some forms of photography and not others?

I was having dinner this evening with a relative and got into a discussion about "those weird girls on Facebook" - hang on, what weird girls?  "The ones who don't wear much and put their photos up for everyone to see."

This started me thinking - why do so many people look down on some styles of photography, such as glamour, lingerie and even sports photography, and refer to it as if its trash or junk yet treat other styles as high art?  From a photographer's point of view you still need to make decisions about settings, apertures, shutterspeeds, lighting, posing etc for styles like glamour and lingerie, and even sports photography has its own set of difficult challenges, but so many people think they are either easy or just not worth the effort.

I disagree.  Strongly.
