Changes

Fall is my favorite time of year.  Spring is traditionally viewed as the time for new beginnings and rebirth, but I always take time in the Fall to shed shortcomings of the past year and look inward on myself.  I see it as that time to build upon successes and cast aside ventures gone wrong.  Its a time of changes.  Sometimes, quickly, like the leaves on the tree.  Sometimes, slower.  Things you may hibernate within yourself until such time when it is deemed the time to Spring open and reveal the new you.

Change is all around us.  Stop, enjoy the beauty that is not only visible to the eye, but may be hidden underneath.

Penny For My Thoughts

I have a love-hate with Washington DC.  I’ve been here three days and its poured rain the entire time.  And its been that sideways, driving rain that chills you to the bone!  That’s the part I’ve hated.

And the part I’ve loved…so many breathtaking sites!  You can feel the history all around when you walk down the street.  Growing up in Illinois, I’m a bit partial to Abraham Lincoln.   I decided to walk across the bridge from Arlington Cemetery into DC and was greeted by the majestic Lincoln Memorial.  So incredible, even in the cold, pouring rain.  I made my way to the barricade, (as I also am visiting during the “Government Shutdown of 2013″) and just stood in awe of Mr. Lincoln sitting so solemnly inside of the memorial.  Truly one of my favorite memories of my visit to Washington DC and a “must see” on any tourist’s list.
