Bad News Bonnie | Dan + Bonnie
lonelyboyfalls:
Dan sagged against the wall some. He was tired and just wanted to rest.Ā āThank you,ā he said again, pressing the tissues to his neck. They wouldnāt last long but it would help for now. He held still as she dabbed something on him. He felt like it should have a scent but it didnāt, at least not to him.Ā āVervain?ā Dan made a mental not to look that up later. But for now he just needed to get home and get cleaned up. He could come up with a lie for his dad and Jenny afterwards. Say heād fallen or something. Hopefully his neck wouldnāt be too bad.Ā āIāll wrap it up when I get home or something. At least itās sweater weather. I can wear scarves.ā Dan knew heād have to keep his neck covered until it healed. Turtlenecks would have to do for awhile as well.
āBut no one knows that I know. Itās not like Iām going to go around telling people. Who would I tell anyway? I donāt have a lot of friends.ā Dan frowned at her. This felt like one of those situations where people who knew too much were killed off.Ā āStronger and faster?ā That made sense. Of course there were perks to being an undead blood sucking monster.Ā āBonnie, when have you ever known me to be anything but low profile? Can you honestly say you could even remember my name most of the time?ā He didnāt mean it harshly. It was just a fact. If anyone knew who Dan was, it was fleeting. They knew him for awhile and then heād fade from their minds back into his usual obscurity.Ā āSorry. I didnāt mean it like⦠Iām just saying, I wonāt be looking for trouble.ā He slid down to the ground to sit, stretching his legs out in front of him.Ā āAt least everythingās stopped spinning.ā
Bonnie nods at his decision to take further care of his neck when he gets home. Sheās torn between her decision to find Jeremy and her duty to protect those who need it. Sheād decided this would be the last place sheād look for him especially because of this, this need she had to serve Mystic Falls as their witch. It wasnāt even that she patrolled for trouble, it was that trouble found her and she righted it when given the chance. Here Dan was, a little worse for wear and on the brink of understanding the townās darkest secrets, and she was still attempting to devote more time to someone who didnāt even need her help.Ā āLet me drive you home,ā she says, about to take his arm again before she stops to ask.Ā āWas . .was Jeremy in there?ā
She feels appropriately rebuked by Danās sharp criticism. She wanted to speak against it, but couldnāt deny that it was, at least in part, the truth. However, he had simply never fallen into her group of friends. And within her group, there was enough drama to fill a network television show. She hadnāt had the time to be a good peer since sheād spent so much time lately trying to be a great witch. She slid down against the wall next to him, locking an arm around her legs and resting her chin on her knees.Ā āIām sorry that I never really made the effort to get to know you before,ā Bonnie said soberly, not willing to add anĀ āifā,Ā āandā, orĀ ābutā. Even if she had a good reason for why she hadnāt been occupied with getting to know classmates, she hated excuses. Apologies, in her opinion, should be clean and clear.Ā āWhat you donāt understand, Dan, is that you wonāt have to look for trouble. Trouble will find you. Just like it did tonight. It always does.ā She pauses, then adds,Ā āI could fix that for you. I could make you forget.ā
