Feinbäckerei Schellinger

I have been wanting to do this write up for a loooong time now, but I am so worried that it comes across biased... this Bakery is owed by my best friend in Germany, but honestly, this is the beating heart of Amtzell and probably the best bakery in Germany!

No matter when you walk in here, the staff are friendly and there is always a huge variety of breads, rolls, savouries and incase that doesn't hit the spot there is also a huge variety of sweet pastries and cakes.

Coffee, Latte Machiato, Hot Choc, Tea.... it's all available and delicious!

Zapatas Cantina y Bar Mexicana

Date of Visit: 16 November 2012 Time of Visit: 19:00 Table for: 2 Today we celebrate our 6 month Anniversary and wanted to go out for a nice meal. We decided on Zapatas as it is just down the Road from us and we also really enjoy Mexican food. BF had 2 Mexican Beers, which he says were really yummy. I had a Non-Alcoholic Cocktail called Baby Love which contained Coconut Milk, Cream, Banana Syrup and Pineapple Juice.... it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We started off with a plate of Chicken Wings to share, crispy and tasty! For mains BF had a Rumpsteak with quesadillas, looked like a small portion, but after polishing off his 250g Steak there was little place for anything else. I had a meal called Caribbean Tostades, it was Chicken Pieces and Veg marinated in a Lime Curry Sauce served with 2 Tortillas and mexican rice. It was a HUGE portion and I was not able to finish my meal. From the outside this Restaurant does not look very nice but once you walk through the front door, you enter this colourful, warm, nice smelling room with some mexican style music, which really does help set the mood. My cocktail was served with a cherry flavoured jelly-sweet hanging from the straw, rather cute! The meals were served on colourful plates (non matching) and all in all it was a wonderful experience. We will be going again... rather soon (Tuesdays are All-U-Can-Eat Ribs !!! Asiatisch Erlebnisgastronomie Asien Palast

Asian Food, Buffet, Sushi, Fresh Seafood-Veg-Noodle\Rice-Sauce... this buffet has everything! Oh and Desserts, Fresh Fruit and Ice-Cream, including a Black Sesame flavour!

The decor is very Asian but unfortunately this Restaurant has not taken accoustics into account. It's a long Restaurant with many many tables, and I found this a rather loud experience. My BF and I were not able to chat as it was just unpleasant to talk LOUD in order to hear eachother. So we just ATE!

Round 1: A plate o'sushi! Man was it fresh! So tasty and so much variety. Round 2: Pick your own fresh meat\fish\chicken, veg, noodles or rice, and a sauce, then place your peg onto your plate (table number) and hand to one of the waiters\waitresses and the chef will cook your plate up for you. Round 3: Nibbly bits like Tempura Prawns, Spring Rolls, Sesame Pork, Crispy Duck Round 4: Fresh Fruit and Ice-Cream

Buffet costs: 15,80 Euro per person Drinks are VERY expensive, but if you look at what you pay for the buffet and everything that is available, then it all balances itself out!

Everything about this place screams MEXICO! Corona, Music and food.

This is definitely a pleasant experience, and the outside section provides much entertainment as you sit next to the busiest intersection in Friedrichshafen!

Vietnam - Asia Restaurant, Weingarten, Germany

Date of Visit: Sunday, 15 July 2012 Time of Visit: 18:06 Table for: 2 Vietnam & Chinese Speciality ??? R U KIDDING ME! Vielen Dank für Ihren Besuch! Thank you for your visit! ENTSCHULDIGUNG ABER VERARSCH DU MICH? (My favourite German saying) EXCUSE ME BUT ARE YOU ACTUALLY SHITTING ME? I felt for Pizza, then upon driving around, we decided we'd go for Chinese, yay, I LOVE Chinese!!! Well, after our meal, well actually, half way through it, I had to swallow and swallow so as not to be sick, and then we raced away and at the first Petrol Station, we stopped and bought some gassy drinks to wash the oil and dreadful taste of, the taste of, I am not even sure, down our throats. Money Matters: 26,30 Euro's VERY BADLY SPENT!

Jasmin-Tea (Boyfriend said it was good) Mineral Water (probably the best part of my meal) Vietnamese Springrolls (tasteless) Wantan (old batter, doughy inside and the oil it was fried in was VERY old) Prawn Crackers (the best part of boyfriends meal) Tom-um-Gung-Soup (Tomato, Vinegar and Red Pepper, how is this Asian???) Noodle with Pork and mixed vegetables (Salt, Soya Sauce and chilli had to be added for taste!) The decor was TACKY, the service was PATHETIC and the whole experience was just something we have decided to write off rather than get stressed about. I however am dedicated to blogging about good and BAD Restaurants. So there you have it... DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE unless you are prepared to pay a good 30 Euro's for tasteless food and crap service! YUK YUK YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hirscheck Restaurant, Ravensburg, Germany

Well, well, well, what can I say other than STEAK glorious STEAK!!!

As a South African I am used to enjoying tasty meat and Steak is something we as South African's know how to cook\braai\order, eat and enjoy! Therefore, I am always a little nervous to order a Steak in any other Country as I am worried about the grey rubber that could possibly arrive and the complaint I will have to produce BUT at Restaurant Hirscheck you can order Steak and BE SURE that you will not only get the most delicious looking meal but the most perfectly cooked steak which you barely need to chew as it literaly just melts away in your mouth. Since my first visit there (my Boyfriends parents took us out for a meal), said boyfriend and I have been back twice and I am sure we will be returning again soon. And usually we already know what we are having before we even get into the car to drive there!

The Restaurant itself is situated in a very senic part of the district of Ravensburg, Baden-Württemberg. The panoramic views are breathtaking, any time of day, but the sunset is quite spectacular. The interior decor of this Restaurant is not really to my specific taste as there are quite a few stuffed heads of various animals on the walls and I am not comfortable eating while a Family of stuffed Ferrets stare down at me, but I have just had to learn NOT to look at them and just to ENJOY my meal.

The staff are friendly and traditionally dressed in Dirndl's. The chef (Koch) which we have now met, is also very friendly and on the one occasion where I did send my Steak back, just to be cooked a tiny bit more (I like Medium, Boyfriend likes Rare), he came back himself to check if all was OK and did not have any attitude or arrogance towards us which I have found so often happens. Money matters: The Steaks cost between 16 and 18 Euro's and I can guarentee you that this is money well spent!!! I definitely give this Restaurant the 'Little Gold Mine' badge and will gladly return and I can also recommend to anyone to pop in and enjoy something from the fairly wide variety of meals available on the menu, however if you enjoy a good Steak, please order one! Strindberg Steak with Rosti (Mustard and Garlic sauce)
