and I didn't even say a word.

You ran so fast and hid so far when I came near you

How come you're upset I stopped asking you to play?

If someone were to confirm my soul doesn't belong to me, I think I'd find peace for once in my life.

Oh my dear church grim,

how humble are you.

You watch over the bed of fallen

souls who reside in your manse.

You spend your nights

sleepless and alone protecting

what was never yours.

How humble of you to do so

when you get nothing in return.

How selfless of you to keep

company to those souls,

so that they may never feel

as alone and broken as you.

A dog without a tag is a neglected child ready to get lost.

You hold me and you pet me.

You scratch behind my ears and let me on the couch.

"Why are you so nice to me? What did I do to deserve this? Are you tricking me like the others?"

You smile at me, your fangs in plain view.

You don't answer.

You pat your leg inviting me to rest on your lap, but you don't answer.

And yet I don't need an answer.

You embrace me, and your warmth is all I need to know.

As I am forced to share this space with others,

I see you aren't so different from me.

You're not dogs, but still we are all beasts alike.

If you would keep me on a leash

Maybe I would learn what love is

I hold my jaw shut when you look at me.

I can't have you see my fangs,

What if they disgust you?

The wolf begs you to understand.

It didn't kill your sheep, but

you wouldn't blame yourself.

I scream at the moon hoping one day my voice will tune into an howl.

I'd pull my teeth out with my bare hands if it meant I could, for once, be human.
