My apologies for the late update, unfortunately I have a number of other commitments that required my attention. I am slowly making my way through the survey responses but with almost 600 that is a very time consuming process.
That being said, some of the preliminary findings suggest there is some correlation between age of first identifying as a therian and overall strength of identity and embodied experiences.
I cannot wait to write this all up to share my results with you all.
Hi there! I am back. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way for a little while but now having finished with university for the summer I am now able to get on with working on the data gathered in the first stage of the study and design a second stage.
In the mean time here is a small personal project I have worked on. This is a collection of poetry relating to therianthropy, categories and my own experiences of species. I hope you can all enjoy and thank you for being so patient with me.

I wonder if my amazing followers and supporters could help with this project? While it’s not a project I have any personal involvement in it is something I care deeply about.
The UK has suffered from some of the worst biodiversity loss in Europe and it is only set to get worse. Not only that we have a massive over population of deer. The problem is so bad our forests are unable to regenerate themselves naturally like they should and the deer themselves are being harmed by their own unnaturally high numbers through starvation and higher rates of disease.
This project by reintroducing the lynx would help fix the issue that humans have caused. This was caused by humans hunting nearly every apex predator in the UK to extinction. We have no wolves, no big cats, and no bears like we should. This is about restoring a step in the trophic cascade.
The state of nature in the UK is dire, and we need positive and tangible action to turn the tide. …
do you have any tips on how to conduct a study like this? there’s a lot of things I’d really love to learn more about that I think would require doing something like this.
My biggest tip is to look around and see if you can find out what studies have been done before! That way you may be able to find some answers or even a start point to build upon. I also recommend learning about ethics in studies. I hope this helped and I hope you’re able to take on the research you want too :)

Yes there will! Even if you haven’t participated in the first part of this study you will be able to take part in subsequent parts, the next should be within the next few weeks :)

Over the next few weeks I’ll be working through the data and preparing a full write-up of the findings. Given the size of the dataset, this will take some time, but I will be sharing smaller insights and observations of trends as I go.
The final results will be published in structured format via my website, and I will share the link here once it is ready. I also plan to provide a downloadable PDF version.

Sorry I haven’t been active and providing the usual regular updates the last two days. Unfortunately had a combination of appointments and emergency home repairs to contend with.
We’re now nearly up to 500 responses which I am absolutely blown away by the responsiveness and engagement this has received. I want to say a massive thank you for this.
With that said I will be closing the survey to new responses as of April 12th with a view to type up and share the initial findings by April 19th.

Sorry if this has already been asked/is easy to access information that I just missed, but once all the data is collected what do you plan to do with it? Like, is this a more private study where you put your findings on the internet, or will you write something more academically about it? I think this project is a really interesting and important thing, thank you for doing it :)
That’s a really good question, I’m glad you asked.
The plan is to analyse the data and publish the results of this first stage in an accessible format (most likely a write-up hosted outside of social media so it’s easy to read and refer back to).
This project isn’t intended to be private. The aim is to produce something that people both within and outside the community can engage with and learn from.
Alongside that, I would be open to developing this into more formal/academic work if possible. This first stage is essentially building a solid dataset that could support that kind of work going forward.
All data is anonymous, and anything published will be presented in a way that doesn’t identify individuals.
So in short: the results will be publicly shared, and there is potential for more formal academic writing to come out of this as the project develops.

I was wondering are you going to have anything later on in the study about therians and neurodiversity? Bc im an autistic otherkin and was wondering if theres any like patterns that would arise looking at that

At the moment, this first stage is focused on establishing some baseline patterns within the data. I haven’t specifically analysed or drawn conclusions around neurodiversity yet.
However, it’s definitely something I’m aware of and interested in exploring further. Some of the early patterns emerging from the data do raise questions around how therian identity might relate to things like neurodiversity, so it’s something I would likely look at more closely in a later stage of the project.
If I do, it would be approached carefully and respectfully rather than assuming any direct relationship without proper analysis. As someone who is neurodivergent it is something I am personally mindful of.

I’d like to ask what team is behind this study? Are you affiliated with any universities or other institutions?
This study is being conducted independently. There isn’t a team behind it, it’s just me.
I’m not currently affiliated with a university or institution for this specific project. However, this work builds on research experience from my college and university studies, where I’ve undertaken similar (though smaller-scale) projects.

as a therian raised by a bio parent who’s a therian, I’m very surprised to hear of people who also have been raised by fellow therians. Will there be a stage in your study hitting this? I’d assume the percentage to be low but hey I first thought it was me and maybe like two others.
This is absolutely something I will find a way to include, the next stage will focused on more open ended questions to allow people to include more of their own experiences that otherwise would be difficult to account for.
I really would like to hear more from anyone who has had experiences that may be more unusual though, this is partially why asks are enabled here.
