Hi there. I primarily go by River. I use xe/xem/xir pronouns primarily, but it/its and they/them are also fine. Youâve stumbled upon my writing sideblog!
I mostly post links to my fic in order to promote it here, but I also take asks about my writing, participate in tag games, and post WIP snippets here. I also occasionally post non-fanfiction content, most of which is poetry. Writing tag is here.

Slade Wilson was murdered, and Rose is going to find out who did it. The enigmatic Tara has offered to help, but is she really all that she seems? And what kind of skeletons are buried in Slade's closet?

I'm very pleased to say I got to particpate in this year's Uchikoshi Big Bang! I got to work alongside the wonderful @theriveroflight and @investigapurr.
River created an amazing Wicked AU featuring the characters of 999 (that you can check out here,) and Nico created some beautiful artwork for another great scene (that you can check out here)!
im honoured to have participated in the ushikoshi big bang this year! my piece features a scene from @theriveroflight 's zero escape wicked AU, link here! https://archiveofourown.org/works/85115461/chapters/224747126 please give it a read! another artwork for this fic by dawson will be coming soon!
The story is written from the beginning. Akane Kurashiki was a wicked witch. But Clover Field knows very well that people aren't all good or all evil, and underneath it all -- they were friends before they were enemies, and loathed each other before they ever loved.
My fic for this year's @uchibigbang ! I had the honor of working with @rockonfishboy and @investigapurr for two art pieces showing the pivotal Kannyclover & Junepei scenes. Chapters 3-5 will be posted later in a few hours, and Chapters 6-9 will be posted after the final day of our posting period. Spoilers for the full ZE series.

@hndrgirlsweek day 5: favorite route -- I wrote more Killing Game fanfic. Oops. Spoilers for the entirety of that route, as well as semi-spoilers for Rebellion.
"You-kun?" he tries, even less certain than before.
"That's the one," she says. "I like that."
"Okay, You-kun," he says. "If that's what you want me to call you, I can do that. But, um, is there any reason why?"
I've been chipping away at my next Ever17 fic for ages, mostly because a surprise plot element came in and like, doubled the length. I'm aiming to get this done before posting for the Uchikoshi Big Bang begins, though, so here's hoping đ€
Here's some of the ideas I didn't get to in time for the AA bingo formal deadline:
Cozy: Lucky Charm -- this was also going to be about Trucy and Phoenix
"They're gay, your honor" -- I actually started planning a case in full where the culprit and a witness were lovers.
AU: Time Travel/Time Loop -- This was going to be an alternative POV of Eve the Cat trying to save Espella during the last portion of Ghost Stories.
Angst: Bleeding Out -- I was gonna use this one for Asobaro purposes.
Cozy: Market -- I planned to write some Evespella fluff for this one.
AU: Fairy Tales -- This is what that poll I posted a few months ago was about. As you might be able to tell, I was planning on going for the diagonal there.
Angst: Earthquake/Trapped -- This one was going to be Langworth, where Lang finds out about Edgeworth's phobia only when it comes up.
@aceattorneybingo Coming in last-minute with a quick Trucy & Phoenix ficlet (249 words). Happy Apollo Justice day!
"Hey, Trucy?" Phoenix asks.
"Yeah?" She looks up from where she's playing some kind of rhythm game on her smartphone or something.
"What does the word 'based' mean here?" He gestures towards his computer's screen, which is in a YouTube comments section about a recent Supreme Court decision. He knows it's masochism to keep looking at law stuff, but sometimes it's important. And he was never a civil lawyer -- just a criminal one.
"Oh, it just means that it's good," Trucy says. "Like...I think you're pretty based, Daddy!"
"Based on what?" he asks, smiling.
"My evidence is just because you're here, and you're Daddy!" she answers. "So it's based, like good, and based, like in having evidence."
"Great," he says. "Or should I say...based?"
"You got it, Daddy!" she declares. "Just like that."
A few years later, after his arrest for murder, he says it right in court again. That the defense's speculation is based.
And Phoenix thinks of that conversation he had with Trucy years ago. He wasn't sure he would be here, that he would ever get this chance -- but he has to take it, now that he has it.
And well -- it does have a strong basis in the evidence. That's the conclusion he's trying to make sure the defense reaches. A Not Guilty verdict, of course, but also the culprit behind this murder.
But it's also a good thing that Apollo Justice has caught onto the clues. He's following the trail of evidence.
Another ficlet (221 words) for @aceattorneybingo ! This one is focused on Yujin & Kazuma.
Yujin had met Kazuma before Genshin's passing, of course -- around the time the boy was first born. He had congratulated the happy couple, wishing them all the best.
Now, about a decade and a half afterwards, Yujin is forced to confront the reality that Kazuma, while still a child, is not a baby.
He'd been there at Genshin's funeral, as well, and the boy had been practically mute then, grief carved deep on his face.
Now, as Yujin takes him back home, all he sees on Kazuma's face is a stony anger.
"I'm sorry things turned out this way," Yujin says.
He doesn't know who he's apologizing to. To Kazuma? To Genshin? To himself?
He can't forgive himself for what's happened. If he manages to do right by Kazuma, perhaps he'll manage to.
Susato still loves him. He wonders how long that will last once he introduces Kazuma into the household. If she will grow to resent them both, or if she will still love them.
It is too late to go back on his word, at any rate. For Genshin's sake, he will do right by Kazuma. He has no other choice.
Kazuma says nothing in response to the apology. That anger isn't turned towards Yujin. He only hopes he can redirect it -- he cannot hope to make it disappear.
Short Claypollo semi-platonic ficlet for @aceattorneybingo, prompt "AU: Neighbors/Roommates". Wordcount is 335 words.
Rent in the city is pretty expensive. Especially when youâre still paying off debt from going through accelerated law school. Apollo thinks he managed to land himself a pretty good job just out of school â Gavin Law Offices is a big deal, and it pays well, even for rookies â but he also needs to be able to get in and out of work easily. He is so damn tired of the drive and parking. Public transit also sucks.
As kids, there was a brief time where he thought that him and Clay would end up living together. Theyâd been talking about getting something for college, and then heâd gotten a full ride to an accelerated program, and they went to different schools, and they got separate lives.
But not so separate that they canât get a place that meets their lives in the middle.
So, in the end, moving in together works for both of them. Things are okay. Until Apollo loses his job.
The afternoon after losing his job to his mentor being a murderer, he comes home and screams.
He doesnât want this to end. Without his job, he wonât be able to pay rent. He doesnât want Clay to have to cover it all. And even if he takes Phoenix Wrightâs offer, thatâs not a guarantee. Itâs not reliable.
He knows some of the more experienced lawyers at the firm will probably move to their own firm.
But he already knows he wonât be moving with them, no matter what.
Clay comes in through the door a few minutes after heâs done screaming.
âYou okay?â he asks. âYouâre back early.â
âHad a case today,â Apollo answers. âI lost my job. Turns out Mr. Gavin killed someone, and Iâm on the goddamn losing end anyways.â
âThat sucks, man,â Clay says, sitting down on the couch next to him, leaning against him. âBut hey â wherever you decide to go next, Iâm here for you, man.â
Apollo leans back, and avoids thinking about the future.
here's my preview for @aa4zine2026 ! I got assigned to Turnabout Succession, so as I was trying to decide what to do, I stumbled upon an old pre-canon WIP about Spark Brushel and the Gramaryes. I can't use that for the zine, for many reasons, but I decided that I wanted to write him again, and so here we are!
