An Open Letter to My Child’s Father and A Wakeup Call to All Other Deadbeat Parents

Dear Missing Parent,

      This morning I drove our child to her junior year of high school. As I watched her walk toward the school with tears in my eyes I wondered how much her life would have been different if you would have taken the time to be a parent. I thought about walking her into her first day of daycare, her first day of preschool, driving her to her first day of middle school. I relished in the fact that I will have those memories forever. I thought about the many times I begged you to be a father. Your words resonate still “I don’t have the time because I don’t have no money”. Funny thing is I never asked you for money. I asked you to be a part of her life to do the things my dad did for me and ultimately did for her as well. You see being a parent is more than money. Being a parent is setting an example for your child, guiding them and teaching them morals and values. It’s being there when she starts cheering and being her biggest cheerleader. It’s wiping the tears away when others hurt her and disciplining her when she is wrong. You see none of those things required money, they required you to be selfless. She wanted you. She wanted your time. She wanted you to be proud of her. She didn’t get that. Although it may be hard to believe, she never heard me say one bad thing about you. You see I let her formulate her own opinion of you. I even tried to cover for you when you broke promises. You see to me, her feelings were the priority. You still had a chance but blew that when she visited you and you decided to blame me for you not being there. I gave you her cell number, told you to call more. And when you did call you were drunk and tried to lay a guilt trip on her. Seriously, she doesn’t call you on your birthday because in 16 years you have called her on hers all of once. You continue to discuss money or your lack thereof when you did call. Guess what she doesn’t care. She just wanted you to acknowledge her and show her love. It was countless times where we didn't have money but she never knew it.I’m drowning in debt from being a parent but I wouldn't have it any other way. She was and still is my priority and my goal everyday is that she knows that she can be anything she wants to be. You may think this letter is trying to put you on blast or hurt your feelings but honestly it is a testimony. It’s my testimony that through it all without your love and time, our child has grown into a beautiful, intelligent and successful young lady. I thank you for being selfish because I get to be selfish. I get all the memories, the hugs and kisses, and also I get all the credit when she becomes a successful doctor. So this is thank you. If you hadn't been the self absorbed person you are then we wouldn't have the great relationship we have. You should be proud even though you had no hand in how great she turned out. My advice for you is to really try with your children, I mean money doesn't automatically make you a good parent. Children care more about the time and love you offer. I suggest you make an attempt with your child but honestly I think it may be too late.

Time to mature people

I can honestly say I find issue in how much people complain about the opposite sex. You sound like whiney kids. Men claim women don't know a good man when they see one, women claim men don't know a good man when they see one. I'm sorry but maybe you're just not as good as you think you are or maybe you need to sit down and enjoy being alone so you are able to recognize what you want in a mate and enjoy a mate who has lots to offer. The problem isn't always the other sex, maybe it's you and your choice in who you date. No one is perfect, knowing you and what you want makes dating a lot easier. Stop making generalizations about the other sex when it's just your poor choices in companions and your complete ignorance of yourself and your needs and wants.... #justmythoughts #ifyoudontlikeitfeelfreetodelete #growup
