“Never Let Me Go”, Season 1 Episode 24
This week's request: Darling in the Franxx
And it's a weird one. Klaxosaurs? Hringhorni? Magic exploding statues?
Here's my attempt to understand the finale without knowing anything about the show.

“Never Let Me Go”, Season 1 Episode 24
This week's request: Darling in the Franxx
And it's a weird one. Klaxosaurs? Hringhorni? Magic exploding statues?
Here's my attempt to understand the finale without knowing anything about the show.
“Birth”, Season 1 Episode 26
This week's request: Noir.
It's actually really impressive how they managed to talk about Soldats and Noirs for the entire episode and I still understand none of it.
Here's my (entirely failed) attempt to understand the finale despite knowing nothing about the show.
“God's in Heaven, All is Well on Earth”, Season 1 Episode 50
This week's request: the Japanese anime adaptation of Anne of Green Gables from 1979.
I didn't go into this finale truly cold, because I've watched another adaptation before. So it was a bit disappointing to find that the titular Anne seemed less assertive, had less of a spark to her, in this one.
Here's my read on the finale without having watched the show before.
“The Reunion”, Season 1 Episode 12
This week I tried to understand the finale of Scavengers Reign without having watched the show before.
So if I understand this correctly: redheaded men trigger evolution by falling out of the sky; spacegoing mummies worship skeletons; and every suspended animation pod has its own nuclear reactor.
Or something.
“It Was All a Dream”, Season 4 Episode 10
This week I tried to understand the finale of Atlanta without knowing anything about the show.
Would you eat the poison fish? I wouldn't.
“Episode 36”, Season 1 Episode 36
This week's challenge is Word of Honor.
Do you know what the secret to a long-lasting country is? I guarantee you'll figure it out before the characters do - even if, like me, you're watching the finale without having ever seen the show before.
“The Wrath of the Lamb”, Season 3 Episode 13
This week's challenge is the finale of Hannibal.
It took me over a third of the episode just to figure out which guy is Hannibal. So you can imagine how well this went...
Here's my attempt to understand the finale, having never watched the show before.
“Episode 10”, Season 5 Episode 10
This week's challenge: The finale of The Last Kingdom.
Dozens of Norse-looking white guys of the same age, fighting one another on a gray and pale blue battlefield? I'll be surprised if I get half the names right.
Here's my attempt at a context-free recap.
“To Be Decided”, Season 1 Episode 24
In this week's request, I learn the hair colors of all the characters in Lucky Star and even imagine a few that weren't in the finale.
“The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya, Part V”, Season ? Episode ?
For this request, I first had to figure out which episode was the finale of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya before I could watch it.
I already knew a bit about the series, but it was still a very strange episode. Here's my no-context review.
“Deus Ex Machina”, Season 1 Episode 23
This week I tried to understand the finale of Ergo Proxy, having never seen the series before.
Let me rephrase.
This week I completely failed to understand the finale of Ergo Proxy, because I've never seen the series before.
“The Real Folk Blues (part 2)”, Season 1 Episode 26
This week I tried to understand the finale of Cowboy Bebop without knowing anything else about the series.
Was I any more accurate than the "Cowboy Bebop at his computer" meme? You tell me.
“Achieve! Everyone's Dream”, Season 2 Episode 13
This week's request: Love Live! School Idol Project
In which a hyperactive girl runs past all of her friends on graduation day.
Or something. I didn't watch the show; I tried (and failed) to follow the finale.
Also, singing llamas.
“E40”, Season 1 Episode 40
This week's I watched the last episode of the Chinese drama Who Rules the World.
What can I say about it? Well, there was some sort of plot, but having never watched the show before I don't know what the plot was. Luckily, it didn't seem to matter...
Here's my out-of-context review.
“Soar Losers”, Season 6 Episode 26
This week I watched the finale of Total Drama (or Total Drama Island, depending on how you define the various series in the franchise).
I've never watched the show before - but it was pretty easy to guess who would win in the end.
Here's my attempt to understand the finale.
“Green Queen”, Season 1 Episode 10
This week's request is The Curse.
Sure, it seems like a perfectly normal Nathan Fielder show. But halfway through the finale, what the fuck?!
Here's my attempt to understand it... without watching the rest of the series.
“That the Man of God May Be Complete”, Season 4 Episode 9
This week's request: The Righteous Gemstones.
Will the resale value of the finale suffer if I watch it without having seen the series before?
