Canon ships are great, random pairings are super, but nothing can ever match the high of the writers trying to gaslight you into thinking a pairing isn't romantic.

Nothing beats the feeling of them dangling the pair's 75th prolonged eye contact in front of you like a carrot on a stick just to pull it back and say, "See how they're perfect for each other in every way? Well, they're actually NOT together! In fact, you may even call them siblings."

And then you're banging your hands against the table like a toddler having a tantrum and yelling, "But they ARE! They ARE together!" And then they drag you away kicking and screaming.

Initially I figured Captain Madine, the officer that's informing Kylo and Hux of the incoming blizzard, could be a relative of this Madine, and went off on that. But as I was drawing, he ended up looking like he stepped straight out of a 70's giant robot anime instead.... I hope that is still okay.

DID YOU KNOW that sometimes characters lie. out loud to others and internally to themselves, and it'll happen right there on the page. other times they are just flat out wrong and don't know it. oftentimes they don't ever find that out. a sizable portion of any story is decidedly not cold hard fact.

regardless of if alastor really has a tail or not (he totally does), how many years do we think vox was waiting to find out?? did he ever try to sneak a peek?? did the question keep him up at night?? the thought of the big bad radio demon, who is a terrifying overlord and literal cannibal, having the cutest little bambi tail...did he wonder if it wags and if its sensitive??? did anyone even really NEED or WANT to have that information confirmed except for him???? and how did he check???????

I am firmly in the "Vox lied about Al's tail" camp - but I also believe he doesn't actually know the truth. He wanted to make Al uncomfortable and humiliate him publicly a little, and bringing up such intimate information is the perfect way to do it.

But he can't really go ahead and claim that Al does have a tail when he has never verified it, right? Saying that he doesn't gives Vox plausible deniability and keeps up speculation.

Vox is not above physically and mentally torturing Alastor, but I don't believe that he has directly violated Al's boundaries in any other way. While the question whether the scary radio demon has the full set of cute deer attributes or not does keep him up at night, I believe his main motivation for even bringing this up is because he wants to be seen as the only one privy to such information. He wants to be the one who knows all of Alastor’s secrets, and more importantly, wants the public to believe that he is the only one. No one else can get this close to the radio demon. It's a very possessive way to claim ownership of every information related to Alastor and a desire to control the narrative.

But if Vox knew for sure that Alastor has a tail, if he had actually seen it (with Al's consent), you bet he would have kept that knowledge to himself.

What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started
