my happy place is underwater.
New year, new paths, new adventures. Follow your bliss!
If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.

Magical Waipio Valley... This place has my heart. Yesterday, my boyfriend & I took a drive up the Hamakua coast to explore this lush and breathtaking valley. We hiked down for about 30 minutes until we reached the beach. Along our path, we encountered giant wild horses that grazed on the abundant greenery. Since we arrived after a rainstorm, several gigantic rainbows painted the sky. Once we reached the shores, I instantly felt a spiritual essence; there was something so magical and mystical about this place, deeper than its majestic beauty. Turns out that I was onto something. After some googling, I found out that Waipio Valley was the childhood home of King Kamehameha I, and it still remains a very sacred location to Hawaiians. Since we arrived in the late afternoon, we didn't have a chance to explore as much as I would have liked, but we will absolutely return to check out some different trails, and the cascading waterfalls in the back of the valley.
There's a rainbow in the sky all the time, don't be blind...

Chris & I moved to the Big Island last week. We live in a tropical rainforest where cell reception barely exists and the closest store is at least a 10 mile drive. The rain falls freely and abundantly, but when the sun beams down, boy do we feel it. Our front porch sits on a koi pond, filled with colorful fish. The smell of hibiscus lofts through the house like a faint perfume. We sleep in a semi-screened in bedroom. There are king spiders at the perimeter guarding against the mosquitoes. I never was a huge fan of spiders, but now I see them as friends. Geckos come in and out like transient roommates. Roosters crow before the break of dawn to wake us. We eat fresh fruit from the trees for breakfast, feasting on mangos, papayas, whatever is abundant. Down at the beach, we swim amongst sea turtles, exploring the mixture of coral and lava rock that paints the ocean floor.
Why are we here? To explore, experience, grow, recharge, heal... the list can go on indefinitely. I'm happy to be here in our little paradise, and to share our adventure.
