Dominic: ‘I was with Matt – me, Matt and his wife were travelling around Europe – and I got the phone call first from Todd and Darren. ‘They explained the situation and that we had been given two episodes to round the story out, and very rarely does that happen, that you get to really say goodbye to your characters. ‘So Matt and I were together and we poured champagne and toasted to the show and it was a lot better than being on my own and not knowing who to turn to. ‘It was an emotional time. I think we were in Spain, and we were tipsy and it was just a weird phone call to get out in a bar. ‘I said, “why are they calling me?” and took the call then went back in and said, “Matt, you’re going to get a call in about seven seconds” and sure enough he got the call. ‘But I think he probably knew – he can read me fairly well and if you get a call from the show runners in the middle of the night, there’s not a huge amount of things it can be.’

‘I would have liked to have seen a little more of the relationship between Jonathan and Jace and how they were raised – that was an interesting relationship. ‘We segued away from the books and now it’s focusing on Clary and Jonathan but in the books it was much more about the close relationship between Jonathan and Jace.’

‘On set the most serious would be Isaiah and Harry [Shum Jr], who are very professional and we learned a lot from them. Not to say they weren’t wonderful to have around but they are the more serious ones. ‘But when Matt and I get together and we start laughing, that’s a problem. ‘When the giggles start, that’s it. We’re as bad as each other. ‘Normally what happens is there is a CGI shot of something going on around us, like in season one episode four or five we had to hold hands and stare into each other’s eyes while they were tracking for a CGI thing, but then he would start or I would start and it was so difficult to get through.’

I'm trying to think, I...I mean a lot of the ki-like when an advert for a new nerf gun comes out that applies to me now anyway, as a 25 year old infant, that still applies to me. So yeah, yes I want one of those. So like I come back home and my house mates like 'yeah there are nerf bullets everywhere' and I'm just sitting in the corner in my little, in my couch fort, shooting through it, and he's like 'ah, you saw another advert didn't you' 'Yeah I did. Yes I did. And I bought 7 Nerf guns today. That's how I spent my day'.
