Dr. Randolph Bell: General Surgeon, Dad, and Best Boyfriend Ever™ 🥰
the ace rep in sex education has always bothered me and I've just now fully realised why. sex education is a show about sex, its in the name. most plot points revolve around problems in sexual relationships - body image issues, vaginismus, not knowing what you're doing - and issues that are a consequence of sex - leaked nudes, abortions, etc. the show also focuses on romantic relationships - maeve and otis, adam and eric, jean and jakob..
relationships, sexual and romantic, are essential to the show.
and then they give us this character we have never seen before, she's only introduced to be the asexual representation. the show has no need for her, she barely even has her own motivations except for 'i need to find out what is wrong with me' and 'i hate what is happening with this play, this is supposed to be about me'. she is not important, she is a background character with no relations to any of the other characters, supporting or not.
which is a real shame actually because an asexual alloromantic character (which is what she is, despite her phrasing being.. inaccurate. 'i still want to fall in love' she says, which is all well and good, but does she have the ability? many aros want to fall in love but can't) could be a really interesting character to explore and hopefully they will in S3 and all this talk will be for nothing. they could explore her want to be in a relationship and her struggle finding a partner that will support her and be okay with a sex less relationship because she states 'i never want to have sex' so hopefully they won't do that thing where 'well. they're asexual, but they'll still have sex for their partners sake!!' which is fine imo. but. not for this character.
tl:dr the ace rep in sex education (as of before S3) feels like a throwaway character just to say 'here's this. now you will never see her again in a way that is impactful'.

the straightbait is killing me
Star Trek: the only show that straightbaits as much as it queerbaits
I’d like to remind the 911 Lone Star producers/writers that it’s possible to have two female characters over the age of 40 on screen at the same time. No one has to choose between Michelle and Tommy. We can have both.
if 9-1-1 takes bathena away from me, i’ll never forgive them actually
