Nessa X Zed kid of course =3=
Name: KaguyaGender: femaleGeneral appearance:
Personality: Sharp minded, and maybe bit too blunt times, which often leads her in troubles for speaking her mind all too often. Curious but stubborn she prefers to learn things from expirences rather anything that has too much theory knowledge. Special talents: Nimble, she is quick on her feet, with ease can doge attacks. Compared to her mother she does not use magic that often but is prone to mild shadow manipulation which she despretly tries to learn when watching her father train others. Who they like better: She respect her father a lot but is bit more bonded with her motherWho they take after more: Its actually a fun mix ….Personal headcanon: She loves bird watching and often can be found sitting on top of highest tree while observing the sky and ground as well. // Ok. This might need a bit of explaining on both sides I think. So here I go:
I do very much applaud you as an artist, for your skills in drawing are well showcased in this picture. You’ve got an eye for detail, as proven by the hasty doodle with staggering amount of detail on the armor.
The second point is this: I assume that this picture was born due to some inside joke between you and a friend/friends of yours. The same goes for my side. Me and my friend do reactions slightly OOCish, and in this case it’s Shen making fun of Zed because of the picture he got his hands on. On the other hand, we write our “immediate reaction as the mun” into the tags, aimed at the other person’s eyes.
If I offended you, then I am sorry to hear that as I did not mean to insult anyone.

So Hunchback is far and away my favorite movie from Disney’s Renaissance, and it always makes me so happy that yes, people seem to appreciate it, people seem to love it, but I’mma go into exactly WHY it’s my favorite, and WHY I think it’s so crucial, and WHY I think it should be required viewing for young boys specifically.
We all know that a huge bulk of the media we’ve grown up with consistently has that one frustrating message: Being the hero means you’ll get the girl. Many boys let this mentality bleed into reality. We have “nice guys,” who feel that their niceness entitles them to romance, when obviously that discredits a female’s personal choice. We all get this, we all know this, and a lot of us get that it’s a toxic message.
So check out our hero.
He’s an incredibly good person who isn’t conventionally attractive.
Check out our lady.
Super good person, conventionally attractive.
The movie so deliberately builds up Quasi’s hopes. There’s a whole fucking song about it.
But Esmeralda, who is her own person with her own motivations and preferences, chooses another man, who is also good and also attractive.
A lot of people criticize this aspect of the movie, the fact that Quasi doesn’t get the girl BECAUSE of his appearance. But my argument? This is the best damn message a movie could ever send.
Because when things get dicey, when Esmeralda’s life in in danger, when Quasi would be putting his own life on the line, he knows that romance is no longer within the realm of possibility. He knows he won’t be “getting the girl.” He knows this, and he allows himself a moment of bitterness, he risks falling prey to the “nice guy” trope, and he almost succumbs.
“She already has her knight in shining armor, and it’s not me.”
BUT THEN HE DOES THE RIGHT THING.
He has NO ulterior motive for saving her life. NO ulterior motive for opposing the man who raised him. And he doesn’t know that he’ll get any reward, he knows he could straight up get killed for his actions, and yet he still acts.
And there’s no bitterness. There’s still so, so much love between him and Esmeralda, pure awesome platonic love, and love between him and Phoebus, and just fucking love all around, it’s amazing.
I’ve heard so many people express distaste at Quasi not ending up with Esmerelda. Like he was cheated out of some kind of reward. But have they watched the ending?
Does that look like a man cheated of his reward? Does he look like he “lost” to Phoebus? No dude, that’s a man who has everything he ever wanted, and that’s also a man who didn’t “get the girl.”
If that’s not an essential message for young boys to hear, I don’t know what is.

The writers described HoND as a “Rolling Stones” ending: Quasimodo doesn’t get what he wants (Esmeralda’s love) but he gets what he needs (freedom from his abusive guardian and acceptance by the city in general). And yes, that totally counts as a win for him.
I whole heartedly agree on the observations made in the post about the story and growth Quasimodo goes through as a character. However what DOES rub me the wrong way is this “I think it should be required viewing for young boys specifically”. The points about dealing with rejection, the bitterness and resentment are well placed, but then the writer decides that this story should rightly be used teach boys how life is not supposed to be fair, but they should do what is right regardless.
WHY would you decide to single out young boys from the group? Is there some specific motive or sense that boys must come to understand that you should do what is right, regardless of wether you feel you have been “cheated on” regarding the assumed reward (in this example, the heroine of the movie). You see, when you pick a group of people (or a gender with particular age) that should especially pay attention to this detail, then you are blaming them for being more neglectful about, or more prone to acting in this manner.
Now, if the boys need to learn such an important lesson, so much so that their learning of the lesson is “specifically” desired, I assume the problems of this sort lay mostly on young males? Or with “nice guys” as suggested by writer of the post. Then what of girls? Do women tend to “take one for the team”, choosing to do the “right thing” even when they feel hurt, rejected and bitter? Is it so that women are more likely to swallow their pride and help their friend, even if this friend has just caused them pain? I ask anyone that feels it is so to step up and show my error to me, for I think there is no difference in how either gender reacts to rejection, hurt and bitterness.
You’d have this movie’s message be used in gender politics. I have no doubt you mean no harm, but the argument of teaching the boys how to treat women remains as sexist as ever. Yes, I used the word even I feel uncomfortable uttering. But that’s what this reminds me of. An angle that serves one gender by “educating” the other (and please do not try pulling “but guys do treat women disrespectfully if something like this happens”. Yes, they do, and so do the girls if the situation is reversed). And we should not have those sides when it comes to education. We (in my opinion) should be giving all children as many angles as possible and let them define their personality with these all points and values weighing in the back.
Hey! Can you guys reblog this if you are willing to roleplay some horror or darker themes?
quite honestly i do not think anyone is suprized me reblogging this
„Oh I know,“ she shrugged her shoulders, thus baring them to the cold evening. Lux She had observed the people around her ever since her arrival and their reluctant behavious, even towards a little stranger such as herself, was quite obvious. Some people did not even wish to sell her items, but only out of politeness and because of money was she given the goods she desired.
At this point they had something in common then. Luxanna had a great desire to travel and see the world as well, meet new people and explore, gain experience and perhaps even publish a book of her travels.
She got up and picked up her bowl. She could warm it up in the morning and finish then, or perhaps if she’ll wake up in the middle of the night, feeling hungry. „I hope I do not annoy you, Mr. Hattori,“ Luxanna responded. She cleaned everything after herself and began walking towards the wagon:“I really enjoy your company. You are not like the others I have traveled with.“ She could not pinpoint out what exactly was it about the man, but she chose to link it to his ability to tell stories and his intelligence.
Once she was at their ’haven’, she concentrated and closed her eyes, hand reached out. A single light spark appeared from her palm and it expanded quickly, transforming into a bubble that was visible only for a couple of seconds, reflecting all the lights from the sky and the fire, before disappearing from the sight. Only Lux was capable of seeing it as she was the one who cast the spell. „A shield as I promised… I cast it big enough so that the horsies would not get wet either,“ the Demacian informed him before climbing in and taking her lantern which she infused with light earlier. Once there she began unpacking her items and preparing her ’bed’.
“You don’t” The man assured, starting to put out the fire. “I quite enjoy the new perspectives you have on things ionians have always thought of as facts instead of viewpoints”. With a smirk, the man shook his head a bit at her latter comment. No. He definitely was not like most travelers.
“Very practical and thoughtful” Zed said, observing her cast the spell. Stepping closer, he tentatively reached forward with his hand. While invisible to an eye, a person with heightened perception such as him could easily sense this shield. Curiosity had Master of Shadows circle the shield, trying out just how well he could make out it’s perimeter. Having done that, the man tried another approach. Checking that the demacian was not looking, he drew his hand back, throwing a hard punch at the shield. The way the shield absorbed the impact gave the man much more clarity, his fist stopping seemingly in mid-air as it struck at the shield. Flexing his fingers at the pain, the man nodded. The shield was easy to pass through at low velocity, but a more hardened, high speed and force impact had it harden. Remarkably different approach when compared to Kinkou’s more weaving, spider web-like shields. Pondering on this, he began tending to the horses, feeding and freeing them from the reins, combing their thick hair with his fingers as he gave them what little care he could on the road. With the campsite taken care of, he climbed inside the carriage.
The ninja observed Lux spreading her bedroll on top of the boxes containing books. There was little room, but with a bit of angling and moving of the small crates, Zed made room for his bedroll as well. Still, it was quite cramped space and he did wonder if the demacian noble lady would take issue with the lack of personal space. There was maybe a palm’s worth of distance between their bedrolls. Taking a swig of the waterskin, he offered it to her. “Do you need to change?” Man asked bluntly. If she was to, then he’d step outside for awhile.
The absence of room did not bother the young mage at all; she had slept in a more cramped space when moving around with the military so she was quite used to the fact that there was barely any room to even move. For a moment there she even wondered if Mr. Hattori questioned her ability to not wrinkle her nose at such accommodations and that made her smile briefly before she turned back to making up her small bedroll. Once it was done, she looked at the man who asked her a rather practical question.
While she had been around with men far more often than women, she still possessed a level of modesty, even though she really didn’t have much to be proud of to begin with. Despite that fact, she was still a noble, and a girl above all that, and she gave a small nod.
Then she turned her back to him and began undressing, shivering slightly from the cold night air. She quickly removed the dress and exchanged it for a light blue set of pajamas before piling her former clothes into a neat pile. Then she peeked out of the wagon and looked at Mr. Hattori:“Do you wish to change too? I can wait outside.“
She did not know of his habits of sleeping, but Lux preferred to keep her napping and casual clothes separated as in – she never slept with a dress or a bodysuit, even if the last one was rather comfortable.
The man stepped out of the wagon quickly, granting Luxanna the time and privacy she needed without her needing to ask for it. His back facing the cart, the man closed his eyes, seeing this as a good chance to practice on his perception once again.
Drawing deep, quiet breath, Zed let his mind catalog what he could make out with his other senses. The sound and smell of the horses, the scent of smoke from the put out campfire, and the shuffling of cloth and creaking of wood underneath the woman’s feet behind him. Focusing his attention on this sound, Zed had no issues “following” Lux’s progress.
Hearing the wood creak as she stepped to the edge and pulled aside the sleeve of cloth covering the entrance of wagon, man had already turned to face her. “There is no need for that Lux. I do not posses a comfy outfit such as yours” He motioned at her pyjama. “You may go to rest already if you wish, I will be washing myself up a bit by the river” The man nodded at the shrouded path leading down hill, no doubt coming to the river bank. If one really listened carefully, they could make out the sound of water all the way to the campsite when wind was not blowing.
„Oh I know,“ she shrugged her shoulders, thus baring them to the cold evening. Lux She had observed the people around her ever since her arrival and their reluctant behavious, even towards a little stranger such as herself, was quite obvious. Venia, the Lady of the Dying
Varian Mattock coughed harshly, pressing his stomach in pain. Delirious, the man listened to the cries and moans of the wounded and dying around him. They were in a noxian field hospital and it had been one day since the clash with demacian legions. Cursing while gasping for breath, he lied down on the bed, the feverish haze clouding his sight again as he relived the last moments of the battle.
The heat of battle, clashing of steel and iron all around him as the troops fought each other. And then the shaking of the ground. The thundering sound of hooves and clattering metal of knights’ plate armor as Demacian cavalry charged at them from the side. Varian spun on his heels, clutching his sword and shield with his knuckles white, terror gripping his heart as he witnessed the cavalry smash into their unit’s flank. And as if the time itself had slown, he witnessed the knights mow down his comrades, one of the cursed raiders reaching him before he had so much as chance to lift his shield. The piercing pain struck his side and the noxian screamed…
His eyes shot open, man’s mouth gaping open as he screamed without a sound, clutching his side where the demacian’s lance had pierced him. Overcoming the pain and his nightmare, the Varian drew breath painfully, taking a look around him again. Night had fallen while he’d been unconscious and everyone seemed to be asleep. There were fewer of them in here than when he’d been awoke last time. The grim realization came to him as he felt the dampness of blood on his bandaged wound. “That many dead…” He whispered, understanding the hopelessness of his own situation. He knew the lance had torn him open and that his insides were likely beyond saving. In time, he too would join the others.
A nurse walked between the rows of bed. Seeing how he had little else to do, the soldier observed her, watching as the pale skinned woman went from bed to bed, the patients seemingly calming down as she touched them, caressing their cheek as they slept or stroking their hand. A small smile crept to Varian’s lips at such comforting, almost maternal touch. He was surprised that a nurse would show such gentle care for all these dying bastards. With curiosity, he took note how she appeared to skip some beds, but spent more time with others. Hopefully she’ll stop by mine. Could use a gentle touch for a change, he mused, the pain of his stomach making itself known again. Determined not to miss this little chance of comfort, he laid down and closed his eyes, forcing the pain down for now.
The woman reached his bed, tidy little steps and the quiet shuffling of her robe giving her presence away. “You are awake” The soft voice acknowledged, Varian feeling his bed’s weight shift slightly as the woman sat down on the edge of it. Soldier felt how she rested her hand on his blanket covered chest and he could had sworn she was looking at his face. “Don’t worry. I won’t leave you“ the nurse assured him gently, Varian parting his eyes and gazing up at her.
Surprise and fear struck him as he witnessed the woman from up close, the darkness framing her white hair and beautiful, yet colorless face. Her eyes had a green tint to them, unnatural with a dim glow in the dark hospital room. A sad smile rested on her lips as she looked down upon the young noxian
soldier. “Am I repulsive to you?” The undead asked him, her voice lacking malice or aggression, only sadness present. A pang of quilt struck Varian and he slowly shook his head, understanding who he was gazing at. “You are Venia” He whispered, the realization coming to him about the sleeping men and women she’d visited earlier. Giving a timid nod, the undead woman answered: “Yes. I am Venia. And I am sorry to have come to you, Varian”. Coughing up in pain again, the man drew a raspy breath. “Is it true what they say of you, how you are the lady of the dying?” He asked, desperate hope in his voice. Of ways to go, he might had been graced after all if she was.
With silent smile, almost pleased at his question, Venia nodded. Pulling his blanket aside a bit, the woman’s pale hand reached for his. Shaking but accepting what was to come, the soldier reached for her in turn, the woman taking his hand, reaching over to him and starting to caress his feverish forehead, wiping the dying man’s sweat. “I am here with you. Until the very end” The woman promised, holding on to noxian’s hand. The man breathed out, feeling his skin finally cool, the fever and pain from his side letting go as he stared at the undead maiden. The gentle, firm hold of her hand, the careful and soft fingers stroking his head soon brought drowsiness to him, the man knowing his death had come. “Venia…” He whispered the woman’s name, wondering if she’d remember him. Closing his eyes for the last time, he fell asleep forever. “Rest now, Virian Mattock” The woman whispered, the silent tears dripping down her face as she witnessed yet another soul die at her touch. Letting go of man’s hand, she tucked him in like a child. Gazing at the silent hall, the undead left the bedside, carrying on.
// I did an OC concept for a Shadow Isle OC. Meet Venia, the Lady of the Dying. She is the one who comes to grant those with injury and illness a peaceful death, comforting them in their moment of death so they don’t have to face it alone. More details on her character will be given out if people deem her interesting based on this introduction. Commentary/questions are very much appreciated.
The man was unable to hide his surprise at mage’s bold statement. Everyone had something good in them. Something humane. “Quite the optimist” The merchant finally said, regaining his composure and adding: “And I too would prefer to see the light of day tomorrow. I think you may be somewhat right. While Master of Shadows is a ruthless and has earned his inhumane reputation, it is rare to see the Shadows indulge in senseless bloodshed. They do not appear to like causing carnage or death on massive scale”.
He glanced in the direction of the wagon, considering her offer of warding magic. There was a chance it would somehow cause complications with his own wards and security measures. If she somehow took notice of his Ki-trail, were that even possible for a foreigner he knew not, it could risk the whole situation. Deciding on compromise, Zed proposed: “I’d rather we did not use anything flashy. If you can cast a shield or a barrier that is dim, then by all means. But I feel visible arcana would be taunting for something to try and engage us”.
Lux could only shrug in his response. She was and always had been an optimist. This was how she managed to survive her hard childhood and school years. „See? I personally think I have done nothing wrong to anger the shadows as of yet, however I can not speak about the spirits. Perhaps they don’t even like strangers wandering their land, but as for them, I hope I have not angered them anyhow either.“ She leaned closer when Mr. Hattori decided to give his opinion on this topic. „Mm… But perhaps they are given a wrong reputation then? Wrongly judged? Alright, we know that the Master of Shadows was banished from the order to which he later returned. Maybe, after all these years, he has learned of his mistake and decided to redeem himself by doing something?“
She placed her bowl on the ground, gesturing with hands now. If she liked anything during the journeys with others, it was fantasizing and thinking of things that she did not grasp completely or just imagine something better. Right now it was the desire to see good in both of the frightening mythological creatures.
„Because you now said that the shadows are least likely to commit a homicide or any other things that may damage the Ionian population which leads me to an assumption that they may, in fact, be waiting for something or someone more dangerous?“ At this point she also hinted at history – the Noxian invasion that damaged ionians to the extent where they deemed every stranger to be at least of a small threat.
She could not say anything about the spirits as she feared her excitement and odd words have already earned either mistrust or judgement for her. Many did not like how she allowed her fantasies run around rapid and take over her head so easily.
Lux gave a simple nod. Mr. Hattori had a decent argument on this one; they might lure in the forest creatures or someone else less pleasant. „Alright, a shield it is so even if it will rain tonight, the wagon and the horses will remain dry.“ She stretched her legs and knocked the heels against each other for a couple of times, her azure eyes still locked on a man whom she studied with great curiosity. His eyes gave off an odd glow when flames danced brightly, but it appeared and disappeared so fast Lux could not even grasp what has happened. „Why did you become a merchant, Mr. Hattori?“ the Demacian wondered out loud. „Is it because you can travel a lot or do you enjoy meeting new people?“
The man gave her a long look as she proposed a reason for the Shadows’ actions and patterns. Amazing. In such a short time, with bit of optimism and the limited knowledge, she’d come up with the theory far closer to truth than what most Ionians ever would. “Could be” Zed answered, shrugging his shoulders dismissively. “But I would not utter that opinion out loud openly. Many ionians are very... Decisive in their judgement. Even if they do not show it openly”.
Luxanna’s curiosity was never ending. In a way, she was getting a tad bit too close, but Zed was very poor at dodging questions, preferring to twist story and play with the perspective of story instead of falling silent. “Yes. I traveled quite a bit in my younger days and that desire to wander and discover never really disappeared” he admitted to her. “As for meeting people? I much prefer the time alone, but it is refreshing to have company every now and then” the merchant said, starting to clean up the remains of their dinner.
