This is stupid but I need help finding a fic I really enjoyed but forgot to bookmark.

Basically this starts in Vegas after the awards but like during a gala like thing, Shane it’s in a bad mood and blows off him mom and goes and sits with Ilya and hangs with him then Ilyas teammates come by and learn that Shane is really funny and then they go out on the town and get fucked up all together. I’m pretty sure Cliff gives Shane his number by writing it on him but I could be wrong. Later when Cliff sees Shane before a game he’s super loudly buddy buddy with him and the Metros find that a bit weird. Then they all go out drinking together (some of the metros and some of the raiders) and that’s all I remember

I don’t have much faith in finding it myself but maybe someone else here knows which one I’m talking about

People don’t use church organs in fiction enough. Like this is an instrument literally the size of a building, it breaths, it can be so loud it’s deafening, it’s over 2000 years old, it has played alongside worship for its whole existence. It seems entirely unfair, then, that Ilya Rozanov has seemingly no qualms at all about being hated.

OR: Shane was a puck hog, but now he only gets to be greedy with Ilya Rozanov.

outside of the obvious reasons why the hollanov relationship reveal must be crazy to shane’s parents, it’s gotta be wild to them that their shy, awkward kid is dating the league slut. their kid, who cannot even say the word “sex” without blushing, has been fucking a man whose sexual reputation is a topic of conversation. for a decade. they are in fact on a sexcation together. if you want to see them, you need to text them that you’re on your way there, because even if they know you’re coming in advance, they cannot keep their hands off of each other long enough to properly keep track of time. david hollander sees things start to heat up between them and knows instantly that they have probably fucked against every window in that extremely glass house.

I just need to share this.

I work as a stage hand, and the nature of this kind of work baffles me constantly.

First of all, because its the music industry the only way to really get work it to know a guy that knows people who might be looking for hands. So my buddy gave the numbers for 2 people to text asking for work. I finally hit them both up and they both go back to me really fast and the difference in responses in crazy.

The first guy had me fill out an application on their website (something I did back in september, but they don't check unless asked to) and email them my resume and he said he'll hit me up to set up an interview after reviewing my app.

The other guy asked if I was free wednesday or thursday this week (its currently tuesday) and I told him I was free thursday and he called me and now I have a gig thursday and I'm getting there by meeting people with black vans in a grocery store parking lot. The only thing this man knows about me is my name and the fact that I have done this kind of work before, that's it. I don't even know how he's gonna pay me, or how much, we talked for not even 5 minutes. WTF

This line of work is so fucking weird

I love being trans because I can look at a show like Heated Rivalry and know that over the next couple years we’re gonna see a wave of new trans men/mascs named Shane or Ilya or Scott or Kip and I think that is so beautiful

I really hope I get to meet an Ilya or a Kip or a Shane or a Scott in the next coming years, like part of me loves them already.

I think I’m just so excited because at one point I was a odd girl CONSUMING gay fiction like it was water, and through that fiction I learned I was not an odd girl but a really fucking gay man. And that shit sucked for a long time, but I’m so much happier now and full of so much queer and trans joy that it makes me want to scream. There are some people now starting on that journey in a world where it’s so fucking scary to be trans and queer and I so desperately want them to know they are not alone, and they are so welcome and so wanted.

Why Heated Rivalry Matters

With the wild success of Heated Rivalry, I’ve found myself slowing down and really thinking about what this moment means. Not just for the LGBTQ community, but for straight women, straight men, everybody who presses play and feels something crack open. And yeah, it sent me straight back into my own story.

I came out in 1990. That date matters. It was the tail end of the AIDS epidemic, when queer stories on screen were almost always soaked in grief. We were dying. We were suffering. We were warnings. Happy endings did not exist for us. Love usually meant loss, and hope was rare, if not forbidden.

As the media shifted, we didn’t exactly get better treatment. We became the funny sidekick. The sassy best friend. Or worse, the gay guy tragically in love with the straight man he could never have. Desire without reward. Longing without resolution.

Then the new century cracked the door open. Queer as Folk kicked it in. Showtime gave us sex, sweat, joy, mess, beauty, stereotypes, and humanity all tangled together. For the first time, audiences saw us fully, not safely. Not politely. That mattered.

Soon after came Will & Grace, putting gay characters front and center in living rooms across America. Then films followed. Brokeback Mountain hit like a thunderclap. Two massive Hollywood stars. Closeted cowboys. A love stretched across years, quiet and devastating. It changed the conversation, whether people wanted to admit it or not.

In recent years, we’ve been fed well. Heartstopper. Red, White & Royal Blue. Love, Victor. Looking. Fellow Travelers. Stories with softness, complexity, romance, and teeth. Progress. Real progress.

And now, at the tail end of 2025, here comes Heated Rivalry. A damn phenomenon. A universe that grabbed all of us by the collar and said, feel this. What makes it special is not just that it’s hot. It starts physically, which is all straight people ever think we are. Then it blooms into something tender and real and earned. A love story that doesn’t apologize and actually rides off into the sunset. Literally.

That’s why this feels so satisfying. We earned this. We crawled through decades of tragedy and scraps to get here. And now we’re feral for more. Because what we’re really craving isn’t just representation. It’s longing. Yearning. Being chosen. Being loved back.

I wanted to share this especially for the younger generation. It was not always this way. Our stories used to end in hospital rooms and funerals. Not sunsets.
