Sorry for the radio silence, guys! I’ve been working at hard at compiling the OrangeHaven CC list as well as building on the Hadbury Street lot when CC hunting becomes monotonous (note to self: ORGANIZE your CC from now on, goodness gracious). Luckily OrangeHaven uses a lot of the same CC in several of the apartments, but there are nine apartments, so it’s taking a while. Hopefully I’ll have it out in the next two weeks or so, if real-life work doesn’t command too much of my time and energy.

I do have a question, though. I’ve been working on Hadbury Street and currently have several apartments complete as well as a retail shop, a restaurant, and a coffee shop. My question is, what should I categorize the lot as? It has both retail and residential areas that are fully functional, so I’m not sure what to classify it as. What do you guys think? Residential, Retail, or some other category?

Since I've been out of town all week for work and haven't actually had a chance to get any Sims-related work done, and since I'll also be out of town this weekend which means even more time that I can't get things done, I figured I'd highlight the little bit of interior work that I HAVE done for Hadbury Street. So far in these apartments I've just planned to release the entire build, but I don't know, I'm kind of thinking about releasing some of the shops as indivual rooms as well. Thoughts? If people are interested, I might post this one as a room on the gallery. A nice little coffee shop for your simmies, with lots of natural lighting streaming in from Newcrest. The bar section is gated off for some realism. And I just now realized that I took these photos with the grid still turned on (whoops!). Hopefully next week I can get back into the swing of building/compiling resources for OrangeHaven (will it be released before August? Who knows! Haha). Happy simming!

...I accidentally started this new complex build. Six buildings in all on this lot, with a mix of retail and residential. I know, I know, I NEED to get the CC list for OrangeHaven finished. I will be out of town for work next week so I probably won’t be able to finish it until I get back, but I promise that it’s coming so that that build can go on the gallery. You’d think I’d learn to stop using so much CC, but nope xP

Introducing:

“OrangeHaven Villas”

Located at Fern Park, Newcrest, OrangeHaven Villas is a large apartment complex with 10 one-bedroom apartments and 1 two-bedroom apartment, plus a community laundromat and gym. It is fully furnished and has a plethora of CC files. It will eventually be uploaded to the gallery but I’m still in the process of compiling the CC lists and play testing it. For now, though, here are some more detailed pictures!

It’s finally finished! This took way longer than I expected (especially since I didn't have my computer for a bit), but apartment complex #1 is FINALLY furnished and ready to be transported to Newcrest. There is SO MUCH cc in this build, you guys, so I think I'm going to do cc credit posts by individual apartment units rather than having a single massive list. The build itself will be up on the gallery. For now, a few more teasers. I should hopefully have everything fully published by the end of the week (fingers crossed).

So basically what I’ve learned... 

...is that I’m an incredibly slow builder and apartments take forever :P BUT I have finally finished decorating the 2nd floor, which just means 1 1/2 more floors to go! Then transposing it to the Newcrest Lot, compiling CC credits, and we SHOULD be good to go!

I was hoping to have this finished by Thursday for the release of Newcrest, but considering that it’s taken me this long for the first floor alone, I don’t think that will happen. In the meantime, however, here are some progress shots from the first floor. All of that decorative clutter is quite time-consuming...

First major build for Newcrest; since the city skyline is so close, I thought I would do a neighborhood comprised solely of apartment buildings. Some of these apartment buildings will have shops on the first floors, some will be purely residential. This is the first of several RL inspired apartment buildings for this neighborhood. The above picture is concept art from an apartment project in Anaheim, CA. The below is the WIP front face of my TS4 conversion. This was built on a 30x20 lot size and imitates the far left three buildings of the concept building (certain liberties were taken in levels and ratios). I’m not too happy with the brick fencing on the left second story, so I’m still searching for a satisfactory item there; additionally, I think I’ll change the trim on the far left and right buildings to be more of a white like it is in the concept. I added ivy to the front face because I wasn’t a fan of how “incomplete” the face was looking without it; I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep it that way or not. Also, I have no idea how the floating ac units happened; they have since been fixed. Overall, this building should house 9 apartments, plus a basement level for laundry, a gym, and other odds and ends.
