Hey Spencer, I asked that summoning question before, and I know you never said you were a technical helpline but I've heard you talk so much about d and d from Harmontown it just feels right to ask you. Alright, so "shadows" have the ability "create spawn" and when a shadow kills something with strength damage the creature killed becomes a shadow under the command of the killer. Now if I had a staff that had the shadow form ability changing me into a "living shadow" would I gain "create spawn"?
No
I love Harmontown and what you do with it, Spencer. Thank you.
RP/DM question: How do you (personally or rhetorically) create a lasting adventure/campaign in advance when you dont know what kind of characters are in the party, and don't know the players that well? In this situation, what works and what doesn't? thanks!
You just have bad guys as characters with plots they're enacting. You can never control what your players are going to do though.
Spencer, I heard you posted some of your old DM plans somewhere but I cant find them, any chance you could tell me where I can see them or maybe post some new old plans?
Anything I have is on reddit but I dunno how to find it.
Any thoughts on 5th edition?
Looks good
Is that your voice in episode 5 (~20:09) of BoJack Horseman?
No
If it's Ask Spencer time...what do you think of Fate Reforged so far? Have you seen the spoilers?
It looks fine, too early to tell.
You're a monster...
Hi Spencer! I'm a big fan of yours, and I think you're cool as heck. How does it feel knowing that you have fans? Do you think you'll ever get used to the fame?
It's weird. It's like having a lot of friends but not. It can be really positive but also makes me anxious. I hope I don't get used to it.
Hey Spencer, I'm about to join a pathfinder crew from scratch and I want to make a character that's heavy on the summoning. I want as many summon spells as I can possibly get. I was wondering if you had any suggestions? Is it possible to make a build with summon natures ally and summon monster? Does that even make sense?
Other than taking meta magic feats that improve summoned creatures, I dunno what all there is to be done. Transmutation Magic can be used to alter summoned creatures (I think) so Bulls strebgth and Magic fang can help, but I don't really know. There's a book that has a summoner class that summons a single eidolon and basically just works together with it to accomplish it's goals, that's called the advanced players guide, but it's actually pretty complex so I don't recommend going that way without consulting your DM first
Hey Spencer! I met you in Houston and wanted to ask you this, but I was too nervous. The answer to this question has alluded me for some time now. How old are you? Follow up question; on a scale of 1-10 how worth the effort is getting stoned and making that beautiful cheesy bread bowl concoction?
It's a lot of stirring, and buying all the ingredients if you don't have the spices on hand can cost upward of 20$ so I feel like buying the stuff is the hardest part, and also you have to fry up like a whole package of bacon which takes a long time, BUTthat aside, I think it's pretty easy. Grate a bunch of cheese, cook a bunch of bacon, stir, bake.
YOu killed on Community. Harmontown is always better when you're DMing some of the worst D&D players in history (mechanically speaking).
Thanks! I try my best. Well probably not actually my best but whatever.
fan art, i guess
I was doing some portrait practice and listening to old Harmontown episodes this evening. This drawing happened at some point.
Just wanted to say I'm a big fan. Seeing an ordinary dude with the courage to get up in front of a big audience, week after week, is super inspiring. You make the fuckin show, dude. It may not be the best painting ever, but I send it to you anyway as a token of appreciation.
Thanks for the fan art! I love it!
You are offered to either roll a ten-sided die, or wish upon an ethereal fragment. If you choose the die, and it lands on a ten, you will be granted one unconditional wish. If you choose the fragment, you will be offered any wish of your choice, as long as it is the wish that all snails could talk. They would be able to talk like people and automatically adopt local languages have human-like intelligence and befriend humans but will continue doing normal snail things. What do you choose?
Snail. I'd rather have one definite new supernatural layer of life than a chance at my choice of a supernatural layer.
Hey Spencer, according to your IMDB page, you're going to be in a TV series called Cult. Is that for real? What's it about?
It was a channel 101 pilot, don't think it cleared the prelims
Hey, man. Listening through the early Harmontown Podcasts and I laughed at your Circle of Protection: Pit joke. You're the kind of DM I try to be. Love your stuff, pal! - Jarvis
Thanks man!
