the saddest thing ive ever seen in my life was this episode of antiques roadshow where a guy brings in a Stradivarius violin and tells a long story about how his father literally sold their house during the Great Depression so he could pursue his passion for music and how he’s used it to teach dozens of children how to play and the appraiser says “this is a really bad fake and is literally worthless but the bow is worth at least $1000 if that makes you feel any better”
