There’s a game called Inktober where people post one drawing for every day in October. To help inspire people, the people behind Inktober po
Hey y’all!!
I’m Chris, and I’m a chronically ill NB artist who works on the webcomic Yokoka’s Quest. It’s been ongoing for nearly 4 years now, posting 3 times a week regularly, and here’s the video presentation for the kickstarter project to get the first volume into print!
Like what you’re seeing? Consider backing the project!
Can’t back at the time? Please help me spread the word, tell your friends, anything helps! There’s a giveaway to win a book too where you can enter up to 5 times!
Thanks for your time <3
There’s about 5 days left and a LONG way to go to reach our goal! We already made it this far, but it’s not enough. Please help me share the word, I’m doing all I can but my reach is really limited and every little bit helps! 😔🙏❤️
There’s a tier at 5$ for digital rewards but even if you can’t spare the money just giving the page activity (reading about the project, faq, updates, commenting, playing the video ideally to the end, etc) helps give us visibility on the platform itself and let others see it too!
I hate to sound desperate but it would mean the world to me for this project to succeed, I’m a really hard working artist who’s also chronically ill so I can’t have a job and all my heart and soul has been in this comic for the past 4-5 years 😭🙏💦
Anyone who reblogs this and backs the Kickstarter (at any tier, even “Make a pledge without a reward” for $1) send me a message and I’ll sketch you a character of your choice (OC or fanart).
Have I mentioned how Raya is the cutest character? Not just from Yokoka’s Quest, but like, ever?
(There’s a Kickstarter to get the first book printed, and a giveaway for 5 free books, so please check those out!)
Some @yokokasquest fanart I made to count down the days to its Kickstarter campaign launch!
It's now live, so please go and check it out (especially the intro video at the top of the page):
We're printing volume 1 of the webcomic Yokoka's Quest!

Well I’ve now updated my other art blog to be within the new guidelines (still NSFW but censured). Let’s see how this works
It’s the season
‘I would like to talk to you about something interesting I’ve observed amongst the humans’
‘I’m listening’
‘There seems to be this religious holiday around this time that is celebrated in a large part of the population and I found some aspects of it to be… fascinating’
‘Do tell’
‘So it involves them going out into the wilds and killing another living entity of one of the stationary kinds we discussed earlier. Then they bring them back to their homes and put the corpses up on display’
‘What? That’s all they do with it? They don’t use it for some kind of survival purpose?’
‘No, while they do that a lot most of the time, this is special’
’Okay, so they drag the corpse of a living thing into their home and then… just leave it there?’
‘No no, they also dress up the corpse in… things’
‘They what? That’s morbid!’
‘Yeah I thought so too, however some have come to replace the body with a replica made out of the processed remains of ancient organisms, or in some cases even metal. I’m assuming there’s some kind of religious schism going on here although I’ve yet to determine from where it stems’
‘Some kind of heresy?’
‘Yeah, in some communities it seems to be less tolerated than others as some of the humans will still put a real corpse outside their dwellings but keep a replica indoors. Maybe it’s a middle ground between the two or maybe they do it to keep up the facade that they are still loyal to the old faith while in reality they follow this new branch’
‘Right so how long do they keep the corpse on display in their homes? I can’t imagine the smell being very pleasant’
‘Funnily it seems like a lot of the humans like the smell’
‘I really wish you hadn’t told me that…’
‘As for how long… well it is usually a little over 1/12 of a cycle, but the culminating of this religious celebration accurses a little before they remove the corpse from their homes, in where they place secret things beneath it that they then hand out to one another as if it was a gift coming from the corpse’
‘Interesting, I don’t remember this being a thing on our last visit to this world about 3000 cycles ago’
‘No it seems to be a new thing, and it all seems to be coming from this religious text we acquired a copy of. Now we are still working on translating it but the title appears to be “The Giving Tree”’
Really quick sketch (like 50 minutes) which might not be obvious because it looks just as crap as all my regular work... heck writing this post took longer!
But really, I mostly just made this for the sake of the colours. See I also made some redesigns of Ala’ni (a.k.a Alanya) and that mostly consisted of maker her nose a bit flatter but most importantly; making her skin colour much darker so as to match that of her people (in earlier versions she had very pale skin). However other than that there isn’t much that’s changed visually as you can basically ignore the clothes altogether.
Se the thing with Alanya is that it’s hard to make a clothing design that would last given that she is almost 2000 years old being born back in what was the mid-late Bronze Age up in the tundra where basically everyone just wore fur clothing so as not to freeze to death come winter, so this is not what she would look like for most of her life.
Some children born around that time (after a big global event that introduced magic to the world) became what some scholars would later call ‘the infused’. The infused all seemed to stop aging in their mid-20:s, being very resilient and hard to kill as well as being able to wield raw magical power unlike what normal people could. Some also seemed to have specific powers that seemed to defy the rather strict system of magic that had come into existence. Ala’ni was able to affect and change matter; the purer, the better. For this reason she would (several centuries later) get a spear made out of raw iron that she could shape with her very mind (this ability is mostly limited to minerals as trying it on something biological which is made up of many different elements is way too hard for her).
Ala’ni had 3 children but unfortunately like with all the infused; the eternal life they had did not pass on to their offspring and soon 3 became 2 as her youngest son died in an accident and shortly afterwards her second son got taken by mysterious spirits, which set Ala’ni off on her quest for answers and if nothing else; find a way to release her son’s soul from the spirits that took it so that he could move on.
So it's been a while since I decided to rework the whole world and the characters, but I've never drawn the new design I had in mind for Keiko (although some things may still change). Now sporting a thick chainmail coat (the chainmail is woven into the outermost layer of the coat), a pistol and pouches (but unlike a 90:s superhero; it makes sense for her to have them since she is basically carrying everything she owns at all time). She also has a scar across her nose from a cut (she also have several other scars across her body but not visible in this drawing.
Might look into doing more with this drawing in the future.
Personality-wise she has also changed. If I was to use the DnD alignment system I would classify her as a chaotic good character (from more lawful/neutral good).
She can be cold, logical and harsh, but when opportunity arises she’ll happily drink herself stupid and party all night, because she still have a kind of ‘live for the day’ mentality, knowing too well that the life she is living means that she might very well be dead tomorrow, (but she’ll be damned if she would not go down fighting).
In a fight she’ll fight dirty and use everything at her disposal to take down her opponents in order to get the job done and to live for another day.
Two commissions I got from @clefdesoll, of my OCs Eleni and Gon! (go commission them yourself, or read Yokoka’s Quest)
