Welcome to the Sound of Science Discord server! Initially made for the zine of the same name, the server is now for general Portal community

For the last 4 months, 30 artists have been hard at work with filling up the entire Portal 2 soundtrack for it's anniversary, and it's all released as one big zine. 65 art pieces and artist commentary, this Portal 2 love letter is ready to be viewed by the public! Please consider to share and reblog to prove that the Portal fandom isn't as dead as it seems!

TSoS Question of the Week #5

Did you know there were many mechanics that never made it to the final game? "Adhesion Gel" was an idea originating from the Digipen student game "Tag: The Power of Paint" where you were able to walk onto any surface covered in the gel, be it on the wall or ceiling! Unfortunately (Or fortunately), this mechanic was removed as it caused motion sickness in play-testers 😓

HI moderator bemb here. We've decided to rename the zine to "The Noise of Area of Study" where everyone has to make a piece based on adventure "rick" core's adventure music. Here's the new zine cover btw

The reason this zine even exists is for people's love for the soundtrack of this game! From beautiful opera to the soothing sounds of a printer, Portal 2's soundtrack has an array of different moods, vibes and feels to every song! Each zine piece is an interpretation of what the artist thinks of when listening to it! There are so many wonderful interpretations and visuals already!

Did you know Portal 2's plot was going to be different during development? At first, Players were going to have to help GLaDOS regain her memory by rebuilding her. Seen in an animation demonstration by Karen Prell, she was going to misremember cake as "cereal". This was changed however as play-testers were still sour about how she treated the player in the previous game.

Did you know that most of the songs present within Portal 2's soundtrack is diagetic? Diagetic sound is the act of music or a sound that is present within the world itself, so that means Chell can (mostly) hear what the player does! Once you realise almost everything in the facility makes a sound, its almost as if the machinery is singing a little song for you!
