Brooklyn smiled and set her stuff down, scooting in next to the redhead. “Thanks! Finding a spot to sit in this lunchroom is hellish sometimes. I’m Brooklyn.”
“I completely understand” The red head smiled holding out her hand once Brooklyn set everything down “Kathryn”
“STOP PRETENDING TO BE OK!” (Kat)
“What? I’m- But I’m fine. I’m perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong… I promise.” He said before giving her a kiss on the head. “We should be worried about you. You’re the one who just got out of the infirmary.”

“Kat seriously, I’m okay. Besides, you like it when I’m cute. Don’t you?” He said, giving her a little smile. Trying to be as sweet as possible. He didn’t want to admit that he was feeling so down about everything that was happening lately. Especially not to her. He didn’t want to burden her.
“Riley I do like it when your cute but I don’t like it it when you keep stuff from me.” She bit her lip a bit nervous. She wanted him to be able to talk to her. They were friends before their brief relationship, he should be able to depend on her. “Riley you can talk to me about anything. You know that right? It’s not a burden at all”

“Sure!” The speedster smiled moving over a little more to give the girl more room.

Kat’s face turned red. Her mind screamed at her to say something anything. Broken speedy stammers were all that came out.
“I- uh- oh umm T-Thank you” She awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck. \

Bruce had arrived at the school with the news of the kidnappings. He knew that changes had to be made at the school after all of the attacks that had happened there already. He had been setting up his office when he heard footsteps. “Class begins two hours from now.” He said not bothering to turn to them as he finished unpacking the rest of his things.
“Good thing my visit isn;t school related” Kathryn beamed, standing in the doorway “Welcome Gramps!”

“I need bleach for my eyes and holy water for my soul.”
“I think your overreacting slightly”
“YOU’RE COMFY.” (Kat)
He probably shouldn’t be letting her this close, but he did miss her. Too much to turn the cuddling down. He sighed at her words, holding her very gently like he was scared she might break in his arms. “I missed you…” He said his thoughts out loud.
“I missed you too” She responded getting comfortable in his arms. She knew he was being cautious with her. She could tell, that’s how well she knew him. She didn’t say anything though.
How do you feel about Riley being back? Do you think he's going to leave you again?
“I’m really Happy Riley was back. As far as him leaving again. I’m not gonna focus on that idea right now”

“I know, Kat… I’m so sorry.” He apologized. It felt like the 100th time that day that Riley apologized to someone. But he really was sorry. It was wrong of him not to tell her he was leaving. But he just didn’t want to have to deal with the look on her face when he said he had to leave. It was so selfish of him. “I wish I could take it all back.” He said before she spoke again and at her words, Ry gave her a sweet smile.
“Sorry?” He said, the smallest laugh coming from his mouth. “I can always try and be less likeable if you want,” He said jokingly. A larger, dorky grin gracing his lips. “Then you can yell at me to your heart’s content and we can make back up.”
“Just promise me next time you need to go you’ll say something?” She requested. She could tell how sorry he was and didn’t want to make him feel anymore guilty. Kathryn leaned forward resting her forehead on his shoulder.
“I think it would be really difficult for you to be less likable.” She chuckled a bit, the first laugh she let out in days. “I’’m really glad your back”

“Okay,” He said, understanding that she didn’t want him to go anywhere. Just thinking about what Lex did to her made him angry. She couldn’t talk about it yet, it seemed. He chewed on his lip trying to stay as calm as possible. He didn’t want to accidentally hurt her with his emotions overcoming his powers.
He swallowed when she asked him. “I’m sorry, Kat. I really am.” He told her, “It’s just- I… I couldn’t control myself. My abilities were going haywire. I didn’t want to hurt you so my dad- Clark, took me to the Fortress of Solitude for some training with Kon. I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave if I said goodbye. I cared about you too much… I’m selfish.”
“I was worried about you Ry, you just upped and vanished. I would have understood that you needed to leave. You could have said something” She knew how dangerous a person’s powers could be. She understood that fairly well. She got why he left. She wished the situation was a least a little better though. She noted the fact that he emphasized Clark over the my dad part. She let out a sigh not wanting to argue with him. She was way too tired for that right now. “You make it so hard to stay mad at you”
She gave his hand a small squeeze.

Kat must have been so upset with him and he had no idea how to explain it to her. He still cared about her with a passion he hadn’t felt before, not even with Pippa. He never meant to leave her. Never. He squeezed her hand gently.
“I can get you something to eat, if you want.” Though he wasn’t even sure if she was allowed to eat yet. He’d have to ask the nurse’s permission to get her some food if that’s what she wanted. Some real food.
Then Riley noticed the needle marks on her arms and felt himself cringe. Remembering seeing needle marks on his own arms when he woke from the coma. He reached over and stopped himself from touching them. “What did he do to you, Kat?” He found himself asking.
“I’d rather you stay here” She found herself saying despite wanting food. She felt silly but last time he left he didn’t come back and she doubted that Riley would leave forever in the twenty minutes it took to get food. She bit her lip not wanting to answer the question. She thought back to the black barren room. She thought back to what Lex told her about where she came from. What she was apart of, not by choice of course.
“Where did you go?” she blurted out “Why at least you didn’t say by?”

“Kat,” He got out. The nurse walked out, leaving them alone and Riley took in her features. She’s okay. He thought, walking up to her. He wanted to hug her, hold her hand… but he feared he might hurt her if he touched her. He was practicing talking to her for days and now all the words he wanted to say- he couldn’t remember them.
“I came as soon as I heard…” He told her softly, placing a hand very cautiously on hers and sitting down on the bed with her. “How’re you feeling?” He asked her, feeling extremely bad for just disappearing on her two months ago. He just didn’t want to hurt her while his powers were extremely unstable. After training at the Fortress of Solitude, he had a slightly better grip on his abilities but they were just as unstable. He was still a danger to her.
Kat wanted to be angry with him. She wanted to be furious with him. One day he was there and the next he was gone. It wasn’t just the fact they were dating at the time it was the fact that he was her best friend and she had no idea whether he was kidnapped or in trouble. She had been worried for days until had finally gotten some sort of confirmation that he wasn’t in any trouble at all.
Yet here she was and she couldn’t even bring herself to yell at him. Then again she was too tired to yell at anyone. She looked down at her lap for a moment not sure what to say.
“Tired mostly, and hungry but that’s not a new thing...” She attempted to joke and lighten the mood.
[acro-bat-ic:]
“Hey pumpkin, hope you don’t mind us crashing.” Dick joked back using a nickname for his daughter he gave her when she was much smaller. The rescue was a success so far but it wasn’t over yet. Dick may have led his team to where they were storing the heroes, and they may have taken out most- if not all of the henchman lurking around the factory but he was still extremely cautious about what he was doing.
It was a delicate mission for the school.
Dick undid her bindings, taking a second to look over the needle marks in her arms. He was able to keep his cool but inside there was a fire in his chest. A burning anger for what had been done to his poor, sweet Kat. He knew he trained her well. As well as he could… but to him she was still the sweet little girl him and Wally found and took in. He looked over her wrists as well at the bruising from the bindings and breathed out a sigh.
“Kathryn. I’ll have someone immediately assist you outside to a safe-place. You’re going to be okay…”
“Clearly your invitation got lost in the mail.” Kat responded groggily. It took all her will not to cry in relief seeing her father’s masked face. She had faith that he would find them both and didn’t give up even once.
A small sigh of content left her chest once her bonds were broken, her arms felt like absolute noodles but she didn’t waist the opportunity. She immediately hugged her father the moment he stopped checking her injuries.
“D-Did you find Dad? H-He was gone when I c-Came back”
