The prototype consists of a wooden ribbon with cuts on both sides that allows flexibility and rotation. Its edges are adjacently united, creating Moebius' strip. A waterproof LED strip is glued on one side, giving the opportunity, depending on the item's form, either to illuminate its inside giving an ambient lighting or emitting light to the exterior and being more directional and extroverted.
"Disaster-Cosmogony: Living on the edge of water" Research Thesis / July 2013 / NTUA
We are in 2005. Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, flooding 80% of the city. A city is born by the water and then falls victim to the ravages of nature. It is thus investigated the reason the city is growing in this limit, and whether the man is responsible for the destruction. This study uses two parallel narratives. A symbolistic literary narrative which places more emphasis on our personal vision for each city's identity, and a more scientific one, which focuses on solid evidence of the reality, from scientific definitions of water elements to computable scale of the disaster, captured as spatial data in cities. Through this work, it is explored whether the scientific leadership will ever be able to control the unpredictability of the natural element.
