One year ago today, Jamey Rodemeyer commit suicide because of bullying. One year. And it still feels like it was just last week. My heart is aching for you today, I haven't forgotten. The Stronger Project has been slowly overcoming obstacles, but we haven't given up.
For those of you who haven't been with us this entire past year, Jamey and my best guy friend are the reason I started The Stronger Project. I didn't personally know Jamey, we were states away, only indirectly connected by our mutual love of music. But I know what he went through, what his family has been going through, what his friends have been dealing with.
My best guy friend, who I will refer to as Chase for reasons, almost commit suicide two years ago. But he didn't, he called me and I did everything I could to help him. And I was lucky enough that it helped, but I was hurting for him all that same. Not many people know what went down in those few months where he was on the edge, only him, Chris Colfer, and me.
Losing someone is so heartbreaking, that when tragic events like these happen, you feel connected in some way, almost as if you knew them. I know that there are thousands out there feeling the same way I do, about Jamey and about Sierra.
Today, we'll remember Jamey and celebrate his life. We'll take a step back and just think about what life is like for those who are bullied, and tomorrow we will take a step and try in whatever way we can to help.
