I always find Plagueis’ whole spiel about how the Sith aren’t afraid to feel emotions, “…from the heights of transcendent joy, to the depth of hatred and despair” and all that, quite funny because nu-uh they don’t.

I mean, one of the first things Plagueis trained Palpatine to do was to repress or numb his sense of regret and compassion. It continued down the line with the murder of Vidar Kim, whom Palpatine, by his own admission, had a strong bond with and whose death he felt conflicted about.

The Sith are not afraid to feel and embrace feelings except when it’s love—and I don’t only mean romantic love—altruistic joy, peace, or remorse. The Sith is only “happy” with things like hatred, egocentrism, ambitions to the point of greed, pain, and the enjoyment of the suffering of others. They don’t approve of anything that doesn’t translate to more power or the celebration of one’s powers. They’ll likely see normal emotions like grief or sadness without the tendency to become power-gaining tools or destructive, and say, “Ha, loser!”
