Post sooundtrack Sister Hazel – All for You
These days it is so easy to get lost when it comes curating your own social media personality. There is too much stimulus around that gets you off track, at least that is how it’s like for someone like me who has ADD and easily influenced. I got so incredibly lost and off track over the years trying to create my online personality through my blogs. I’ve experimented time and time again with different concepts and always find myself stuck not knowing what to write about. Basically, I feel that the older I get the deeper my content needs to be. Especially as I am writing a book, yes I am still writing it. For the past few months, this very blog has been a place I tried to curate my OP’ed pieces of a social commentary of how I perceived the world at the moment, but it doesn’t feel quite real. I yearn to update my content every week but I find myself less creative than I was 10 years ago when my lifestyle was so very different. I have grown, my life is on a completely different path and values have changed of what I choose to share online. That brutal honesty I once had is still there, but I no longer have the need to share that darkness because it no longer resides in me or is a big influence in my life as it used to be. So what do I write about? There are now a ton of niche blogs and a part of me is mad at myself I missed that train when I was in the middle of it. I was too busy figuring out myself and sort my life than actually trying to do something with the person people had become to known online. I had a following, but I kept changing because that is my personality. My dear friend Sofia over at She comes in colors straight out asked me why I don’t just write about my lifestyle? My fashion, music, food, travel etc. My initial reaction is why would anyone care? There are tons of people that are already doing this so why should I be another one? Then I thought about it, I don’t actually have to be like them. I can just be me and maybe that is enough and I don’t need to feel ashamed of it.
So, if anyone is interested, this is what I know and what is true to my life right now and what I can offer.
I am 37 years old, I’m happily in love in a relationship I want to keep private because it means so much to me. With this man, I live in Berlin with my two dogs Dexy and Mylo that I brought over from Bangkok. I am writing a book, that is taking so much longer than I ever could have anticipated. While I do so I am also trying to find a job in the music business as that is my true love, it’s hard competition, but I have the support that allows me to pursue that dream while I also write my book. On the side, I model and act in small movie and TV roles, which is fun. I still love rock music more than anything, I am still a rocker chic and holding on to that style. I love my tv shows, movies, and anything marvel. I still love cooking, exploring new recipes and it’s where meditate. I practice yoga combined with tons of other sports. There is still a Carrie Bradshaw inside of me, a lover of fashion and writing. Fashion is still something I care about and I explore how to evolve as the rocker girl I’ve always been while also aging gracefully in style. I still love makeup and my passion for photography is still ever so present. So maybe I too can be what they call a lifestyle blog where I share whatever it is that is relevant to my day to day life. There is a demographic of people just like me somewhere in the world, stop competing, the world is big enough for everyone. So why not just do that and stop being afraid of the stigma of “Oh, no here comes another lifestyle blog.” Let’s not deny the doors it can actually open if you allow it and not abuse it for the wrong reasons. So why am I afraid to be judged? I’ve already shared my whole life on the internet before. In the end, it’s not a lifestyle blog, it’s my life and the things I enjoy, experience and get excited about. Which is a whole specter of things that can’t be tied into a niche. So while I am writing my book, trying to land that dream job and doing little odd jobs here and there. I will try it a different way this time, where I’m not going to worry about a specific formula to please a ceratin audience of how a blog should be, I should just give in and just be me.
“Finally I figured out
But it took a long, long time
But now there’s a turnabout
Maybe ’cause I’m trying.”
