The other side cannot seem to grasp the concept of an unfit mating bond, despite basically all of the books screaming it to the skies.
We know that Rhysand has stated that at its basic level, it might just be a preordained way of breeding the strongest fae. This is confirmed in CC3 when we learn that the Asteri corrupted the cauldron with that very goal in mind - which AZRIEL āwhat if the cauldron was wrongā SHADOWSINGER was there to hear with his own ears.
We also know the CAULDRON is the one who gave Elain a mating bond with L/ucien.
We ALSO know, per the CHD interview, but honestly have suspected for many years atp, that there is more than one type of mating bond: a biological bond meant to breed the strongest offspring (essentially breed a powerful magic source per the Asteri), and a true soul bond (which Feyre and Nesta both - YES, BOTH - have).
Elain, as it sounds currently, has the former with L/ucien.
THIS contaminated, perversion of the mating bond is what we are saying Elain is going to reject. I am going to go a step further and predict that Elain is going to UNMAKE this bond, possibly with TT, but thatās another conversation.
You arenāt going to have to worry about your angel L/ucien being sad or going insane, because he ALREADY does not act like a true mate (and you know, deep down, who doesā¦). Heās already thinking about someone else, and getting jealous because of her interactions with another man. Yes, Iām talking about Vassa, as much as you might resent the thought.
And if this goes the way we think it will, with Azriel being Elainās true, mother-given mate, L/ucien is going to be VERY relieved the moment that āthread tied to a ribā is cut.
Why is this SO HARD for them to fathom? Because this sounds like a badass story to me.
