But there is always one main FMC and everything revolves around her.

In this case, it will be Elain.

Yes, there will be Lucien and Vassa and Jurian, and Eris, and Mor, and Emerie, and Gwyn, and Helion. I am sure all of them will have page time.

I find it interesting that the people who hate Elain for being quiet, introverted and not as vocal about her thoughts and feelings, are the same ones who revere and admire Azriel for possessing these same exact mannerisms and traits.

When a woman shows reticence and reservedness, she’s labeled as ‘boring’, ‘uninteresting’ and ‘plain’, but when a man exhibits these same exact qualities, he’s ‘mysterious’, ‘nuanced’ and ‘complex’.

I love and admire both Azriel and Elain for these qualities - in fact, I think that’s what makes them such a good fit for each other. They’re very similar - but they also have many differences between them that will inspire and initiate such beautiful growth and healing within them together.

I wish that Elain was shown the same respect as Azriel for being soft-spoken and exhibiting a more quiet demeanor.

There is a bookish creator on one of the platforms who pops up on my FYP because algorithm is algorithming and it knows that I am into books. The creator is not exclusively ACOTAR related but she posts a lot about ACOTAR and she is a big Gwynriel.

Of course, as expected, most of her opinions are tired old hyperbolic exclamations that have a lot of 'shadows', 'love Gwyn', 'cliche', 'boring', 'dance', 'sing' and other similar words in them. You know the ones.

The other day, she popped up, RANTING. So I am nosy and I watch her reel. And she is yelling about another series, where apparently, she didn't think that the ship that ended up happening was happening, and she thought that the FMC is gonna end up with another guy. Mind you, i've read the series, and it was SO OBVIOUS that the ship that was shipping was going to be the ship.

I am sitting there, pulling an SJM 'i thought it was obvious' in my head, actually being shocked that she didn't understand where the couples were headed.

And my god did I need strength not to leave a comment along the lines of 'still confident in Gwynriel?"

I didn't.

But that again reminded me that these people seriously are in such an echo chamber that they cannot see the forest behind the trees. Another example of them reading only what they want to read and not what's in the actual books.

Anyway, Elriel is endgame.

The ‘private dagger lesson’ …

The entire scene was ABOUT NESTA.

It was about her coming to terms with her past, letting go, being vulnerable in front of Cassian who was so gentle and quiet and understanding with her.

It was about love and loss. The past that was now forever in the past.

It was never about fucking Gwyn and her ‘lesson’.

Whenever we talk about ‘reading comprehension’ this is a perfect example of how people take a beautiful scene and twist it into something totally different and unnecessary.
