Folks, the Impaler hath spoken, and we like what he had to say(eth). I'd like to think we're not the MOST vain band in the world, but it's never a bad thing to find that people are digging what you do. We made this record first and foremost for ourselves, so the continued influx of positivity surrounding it is something we hoped for but certainly couldn't expect.

Nice, right? We've been working on our Italian ever since we scored a sweet write-up in Italy's Enquire Magazine. Of course, we can't actually read what they said about us, but a quick pass through Google Translator cleared the whole thing up. We're confident in the fact that Italy does not hate us. In fact, it appears as if they think we're pretty swell, assuming it's safe to gauge an entire nation's attitude on a single on-line publication.

"Worth It" has been featured on this week's Tacoma Weekly Mixtape. We put this song 2nd on our record, and it's number two on the mixtape as well. I don't know what it is exactly, but there must be something at the core of this song screaming "two," and we're all subconsciously tuned in to it. I wish I could say we did that on purpose, but we're not quite that good. YET.
We'd also like to note that Duff McKagan is in the band featured right above us, which is particularly exciting for Julia, who has been known to shred a pretty sick "You Could Be Mine" on piano.

WE'RE ALL STILL HERE
Well, the Mayan Doomsday has passed and we're all still here. All the better for us since the song we wrote about the not end of the world has garnered some praise over the last couple weeks.
"It's Not The End Of The World (It Just Feels That Way)" has been chosen as the Song of the Week by blogs Another Rainy Saturday and Secretly-Important. The song also saw airplay on Portland's KZME a mere hour after completion of its final mix.
There is clearly a lesson in opportunism in there somewhere.
We wrote this song last night In honor of the Mayan Doomsday. It was recorded in our respective living rooms, lo-fi, in about three hours, on two coasts, so we could get it done in time for the end of the world. Hope you enjoy it more than the apocalypse.
THE FAINT
The Faint have been on our playlist this week, after a truly impressive performance at NY's Terminal 5. Putting their hiatus on hiatus, the band performed their classic record Danse Macabre in its entirety, as well as fan favorites like "Desperate Guys," and "The Geeks Were Right."

Jonathan Richman has been on our playlist all week after a spectacular performance at Seattle's Tractor Tavern. We'd love to link to his website but he doesn't actually have one. We did however find his record label, who offered this adorable little nugget:

Amazing.
The record we've found ourselves listening to most is Having A Party With Jonathan Richman.

THE PERFECT BLENDSHIP
We met a lot of people along our travels in the pacific northwest, many of whose names and faces have admittedly faded into the ether of our collective consciousness. But then there are some who have managed to affix themselves rather permanently in our memory, leaving their mark in tangible (and often weird) ways.
There was the guy at the thai restaurant in Oregon who passive-aggressively indicated that we may have been talking too loud for his approval. The drug addict behind Le Voyeur in Olympia who repeatedly asked us to pop our trunk. And who could forget that kid at Bombs Away Cafe who totally wanted to fight Nick. (It's okay, they worked it out.)
And though it tends to be the awkward encounters that stick with us more vividly, we have also been fortunate enough to find ourselves with unexpected new friends, which can often be the best kind.
With that said we'd like to pimp out a couple of our new friends, not because they're our friends, but because they're just good at what they do.
Dr. Darles Charwin hosts the Beat Surrender on KBVR 88.7 in Corvallis. From The Sylvers to The Staple Singers, The Beat Surrender is your one-stop shop for Soul. Trust us, the good doctor knows his shit. Even at his very drunkest he's smarter than you, so tune in to The Beat Surrender and let him take you to school.
Kurt "DJ K-Hurtz" Hagan hosts The Rusty Trombone Show on KBVR, on which you could hear anything from The Kinks to The Arctic Monkeys, Beck to Iggy and The Stooges. Tune in at the right time and you may even hear us. And as if those playlists weren't badass enough, we witnessed Kurt devouring his first boilermaker like a BOSS, and it was way more rock'n'roll than anything we did that night.
