Sometimes, in life, you question why God put you on the path you’re on. You sit in a quiet room and ponder why. Why did He put you through all of this? Why did He take away a source of happiness and comfort? Just ‘Why?’ questions. Sometimes you blame Him, maybe even hate Him. Because you have no one else to blame and God stays quiet.
But silence is your answer.
When I graduated from high school I blamed every higher power out there for the mistakes I made and the relationships that faltered. I blamed everyone but me because I didn’t want to accept that things didn’t work out. But I was on a path to better things. And sure enough, I became an author and then I met some important people in my life.
And today, one of the most important people in my life hit a milestone. The cover reveal to her debut novel, Watching Fireflies.
Jaycee Ford is more than just another writer. She’s spectacular and amazingly talented. And she’s my friend. Why did I mention all of those things above? Because I would trade all the people I thought were my friends, just for her. I would rather the quality Jaycee gives me over the quantity I had. And I thank God for that! She’s that friend that snaps you out of this self-denial you find yourself in. She’s like the brightest star in a constellation full of many and larger stars. She just is remarkable and I have never been more proud to call her my friend.
You know when someone is just destined for greatness and Shakespeare just echoes in your ear (or Channing Tatum quoting Shakespeare in She’s The Man):
"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
This is Jaycee Ford. She’s destined for great things. Destined to be more than she ever believed. I stick by this claim. Because in life, God gives you a certain number of people who leave a mark and become unforgettable. They teach you. They believe in you. And in turn they impact your life in a positive manner. These are the kind of people you need in life. And for me, I need Jaycee Ford in my life.
